Hey guys- I know I've been really really quiet lately, and some of you probably don't even know who I am, but I've been here for a long time. Anyhow, I'd like to put in my $.02 on the bootlegging issue. I think that it's wrong to copy songs that you could buy in the store on CD that are released by the artist and their company. The artist and the company both lose sales and profits. However, I see absolutely no problem with copying live shows and tracks that are not commercially available. Like someone commented earlier in the discussion, it's about the music. If there is a Tori song out there that some fan hasn't heard and can't buy because it's a bside and the single is out of print, for God's sake make a copy of the song for them to be able to enjoy it too. If this makes Atlantic mad, they're full of shit because they're not losing the first red cent in profits. And if this makes a Tori fan mad, maybe they should stop playing lawyer and think about the fact that Tori isn't being hurt by this kind of a copy. As far as live shows go, it is true that we are not legally allowed to tape the show or make copies of it for distribution, but I feel that as long as you aren't doing it for a profit then noone can really be miffed with you. Again, Atlantic Records isn't losing any sales because they don't sell an album of every live performance. Hardcore Tori fans will go to see her in concert whether or not they have heard her bootlegs, and those who aren't so hardcore probably don't have access to the bootlegs in the first place, so we're not hurting ticket sales either. Not only that, but a concert that might have been especially important to someone can be preserved forever. Send no email flames to my personal account of my horse Pegasus will hunt you down. Unless the photos are playing tricks, the pyramid isn't 3-D as was the original one." Someone wrote me privately to ask me if I was sure of this, pointing out that all the photos of the '94 necklace they'd seen on eBay were of the same flat version as the photo of this item on ToriAmosDirect. I've been doing some major household organizing recently, but today I was able to find the necklace I bought in '94. As it turns out, I had not misremembered. My necklace is a flat piece of metal which was folded in the middle so as to give the look of it being the corner of a pyramid, with the bottom center coming to a point to further enhance this illusion. The main text is on the front, and "Tori Amos" is on the back/inside. I'm not really into the merchandise all that much, but if no one else here has seen this version then I have to think it must be on the rare side. Weird. You know, there were two versions of the '96 tour book, too--that I am aware of. A quickly findable typo was fixed in the second printing, which is how the two versions can be sorted out one from the other. (The first version claims inside the back cover to have been printed in "The" England. Nice typo.) Thanks for listening. I am writing many people from my address book, that have done business with me in the past, I apologize if you get this accidently. I am sorry to intrude and send this out to my entire list again but I have a problem. I have modified and enabled to remove function on the mailing list program so if you seriously got this out of error just remove yourself so just click that link and this is a one time mailing, otherwise i'd love to keep you guys around because I'm trying to sell as much music as I can, and keep people closely informed and involved with what I'm doing, especialliy if your my friend already. I lost several chunks of my inbox, when my computer locked up and the scan disk didn't recover it. I was doing some email compressing, and I guess my little old computer decided to give me good reason smash something. It's only a pentium 200 mmx and I am afraid that I lost a good recent and middle portion of my emails I had a ton I stil had top keep up with. I owe people some records from some delinquent orders and some refunds and I don't want you to think anything bad. Just please contact me and I'll try to work something out. I am doing the best I can. My new store, is doing allright but just enough to break even so it's tough trying to catch up sometimes. If I owe you something get in touch and I'l put you back in a folder so I won't lose track of it. For those people who get this accidently heres my chance to tell you about the store I built all by my lonesone self. It's quite amazing actually and I'd be very happy if you would check it out. We have a Coupon out there now for %15 percent off everything in the shop so come check us out. We specialize in Import collectibles/CD's. So if your looking for that Japan or Aussie, or UK issue of a single or Album, chances are we have it. http://www.bigcd.com I'm leaving this portion in because tons of my friends are on this mail out and maybe you could help me to continue to pursue my dreams. You know how I am, crazy and all, but dedicated to the bone for what I believe in. I also want to get aggressive with my Affiliate program! Seriously I need some more people on this because marketing an INDEPENDENT commercial website is the hardest thing, and the more GRASSROOTS/tell a friend marketing involved the better everything will be. We pay you in merchandise credit for helping us by either putting a banner on a website (any)? Or by using a simple link. 10 Cents per Click Through you generate for the shop, and we have a program that keeps track of it all! Some Ideas how you could help out would be 1. to grab the banner and put it on your website, no matter how big or small or the site is. I can also make CUSTOM banners for specific artists if you are interested. put on auction site listings even, you could get MASS hits that way easy money for CD's for you, and SERIOUSLY a BIG BIG BIG help for me. 2. Put your affilated link in you your signature, in emails, message boards, AOL Profiles, Chat Rooms, IRC, you name it. Anywhere on the net someone clicks it through you get credit. It's link me giving you 10 cents every time. 3. Mass post your link affilate with link lists and submission services. 4. Tell all your friends at school!! 5. Tell your mom to buy the new N Sync single for you through my website. 6. Tell your uncle to come visit to check out the new Jazz Reissues. 7. Print it out, and pass it everywhere. YOUR the one that gets the CD's. 8. you get the picture, help a guy out why don't ya? hehe. http://www.bigcd.com/cgi-bin/clickit/add.cgi I am getting some pretty good hits, over 2,000 something in like 2 months or less! I would say that's pretty good. I got the site listed on go.com in between Barnes and Noble and Blockbuster Music or something... So we got some big company there. Hopefully some of that will rub off. For those punk rock pals of mine out there, know that I haven't given up on CTW as a record label either, actually we just repressed the Capture The Flag Cd and those guys are on tour now. As soon I get the CD bucket of bolts store going, I'll want to be putting out more music ya know. The label is always at http://www.conquertheworld.com so keep in touch, and if you owe me money or trades or if you want to trade some stuff . PLEASE gimmie them! I need $!!! So I guess this painful email is over with. Just remove yourself please if you got this otherwise next time I do mailing about the record store you will be on it. I just used my normal mailing list script, but I did the best I could to filter out some address like I KNOW have nothing to do with business or ebay or orders or even friends but I know a bunch are left in there. Several imports, but no bootlegs. Did this guy clean up his act >or something?!? ~Shaigirl Yes, that's the illustrious Mike. He's had a couple more Yahoo! and eBay auction IDs pulled since we last talked about him. Reasons include: * selling products that he doesn't actually have * selling products that are not in the advertised condition * shipping items with improper packaging (such as shipping posters in envelopes instead of poster tubes) * mailbombing, sending viruses, etc, to customers who complain * issuing threats, up to and including death threats, against customers and others who complain about the above I have an extensive file of emails from him and from past customers. He's threatened me and my family repeatedly since I started telling people about his questionable business practises. The prices that he lists for most of his items are -way- too high. The last I looked, he had the US Crucify EP for $15. That's more than what you'll pay at a shitty mall store, and that's before you factor in shipping! If you're looking to purchase common items, your best bet is your friendly local music store. All of Tori's US singles are still in print. Most of the UK/Euro singles from BfP, FtCH, and TVaB are easy to find. Ask them if they can order. If not, try: http://www.toriamosdirect.com http://www.cdnow.com http://www.amazon.com If you're looking for harder-to-find items, g'luck. I've had some good luck with: http://www.eqsmusic.com Between the sites I listed above, you'll find everything that Mike has to sell, and for a -lot- cheaper. You're less likely to have a problem with your purchase, and if you do, you won't get death threats.
