Lately I've been listening to Spark a lot and I've been trying to concentrate on the background lyrics that she sings. They are kind of long and drawn out. I know this is no big deal or anything but I think in the 2nd verse she sings, "sweet, sweet, sweet chariot". Am I wrong? I was so surprised when I heard this (I have know idea why). I just found it very interesting. Also, I have a question about Tori's setlists. I think I heard she makes them out just a little while before the show? What I was wondering is: Does she make them out herself or did she and the band all decide on it? Also, does she have a piece of paper of something on stage that has the list of songs she sings? Finally, today I went with my best-friend and my girlfriend to the hospital to see his grandpa. We had to go ask what room he was in. When we went to the desk there was a young girl working their and I was wearing my From The Choirgirl black T-shirt and she said," I like your shirt"! At first I thought she was talking to my girlfriend or something but then after we walked away my friend and my girlfriend told me she was talking to me. I would have said thanks but I didn't think she was talking to me. I thought that was really cool because I've really never met someone who is a Tori fan (I'm assuming she was a Tori fan). Maybe she's on this list or something. Anyway, I just thought I'd let everyone know. Thanks a bunch!!! Has anyone seen this 7" for sale? I know that I haven't. I'm not planning on selling it so, well, I' guess I'll have to wait 'til the next one comes up. At least I know from you /nad that this item is in the upward price direction, so to speak. >I haven't had any issue finding the SATY 12". Well, what I stated was, of course, my own experience. Having been a collector for almost two years now I've never seen this 12" for sale. The same with the Me And A Gun 7". Not even on eBay. So that's why I asked. Still, if you know where to find them /nad, I'd appreciate you telling me! :) Or at least where you got them... >There are usually -very- few test-pressings done for any single item -- >usually less than ten. I thought if Mr. Campbell really owned all the stuff featured in his book, then he should have all his Tori stuff professionally insured! :) Well, thanks for the info! :) Take care, Giovanni ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Apr 2000 17:42:38 +0100 (BST) From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Copper=20to=20Steel?= Subject: Tori Sighting! (in a sense) Hello! I don't know if anyone else saw this, but there was someone on "Stars in Their Eyes" last night doing Tori Amos. I don't know if you have this programme outwith Britain, so I'll explain. Five people from around the country come and impersonate someone, and the one that looks and sounds like the person the most wins (allegedly). Anyway, I was at my friends house last night, and as the programme started my friends and I were discussing who we would be if we ever got the chance to be on the show. I of course said Tori Amos, and they asked me what I would sing. I said "Well, they'd probably make me sing 'CornFlake Girl' because that's the most popular one. But I would prefer to do something else, perhaps 'Sugar'. And I would have to learn how to play the piano first of course". To which they replied "what?" (my friends are not Tori fans, although one of the girls suggested that I sing Raspberry Swirl :o)). Well, the woman who did Tori, OK, not to be offensive but she wasn't brilliant (I hope she's not on this list, she's a policewoman in real life, she'll probably come and arrest me). She came on and she was talking to Matthew Kelly (the host. He's about 6'12"). He said his usual crap, and he said "well tell us a little about the person that you're going to be tonight" (he says this ALL the bloody time). She said, "well, the person I'm going to be tonight was born in the USA, but she now lives in Britain and her father was a gospel priest" (any difference between that and methodist minister?) to which I jumped up and shouted 'Tori Amos!!!' to the amusement of my friends. Blah blah Mr. Kelly says "so tell us who you're going to be" and she replies (of course) "Tonight Matthew, I'm going to be Tori Amos" (That's always the best bit of the show!!) and my friends cheered because we hardly ever get it right when we guess who the people are going to be. As to the woman's performance, she didn't really sound much like Tori but I suppose Tori's got a very distinctive voice. (Guess what she sang. Guess. Yes! That's right!! Cornflake Girl!!!). Her outift was not particularly Tori like either. She wore a long floral print dress (I think. was quite far from the telly). Her hair was a lovely colour though. Pretty close to Tori colour, and that's hard to do. I've tried :o). She didn't play the piano and didn't seem to be hitting the keys in the right places. She wass also trying to act like Tori and ended up looking well, a little comical. She was trying to do the facial expressions. You all know what I mean. The piano was black like Tori's but was not a Bosendorfer, it was a Yamaha. She sang to a backing track (I think they all do). However, all luck to her because no-one's ever done Tori before because they know they wouldn't win because Tori is not mainstream enough. It's always the popular songs that get chosen, which I think is really unfair. For example, last night the other perfomers were Roy Orbison (he was quite good), Olivia Newton John (she was good as well), Jennifer Paige (we'll get to that in a minute. She's the one who did that bloody song 'Crush'. The only single she's ever released), and some other bloke with a really bad hairdo and tie (he was good as well according to my mother). And guess who won. Jennifer Paige, despite the fact that the girl looked and sounded nothing like her. So, it's all a big con. Great to see someone with the courage to attempt Tori!! it could be me one day!! If I could actually sing that is.... Tonight Matthew, I'm going to be Tori Amos (ah, the thought. The THOUGHT!!) I dyed my hair red today (actually it was Tuesday and it worked out quite well thank you) :o) If anyone sees Frazer Simpson tell him he's got 24 hours to come and see me before I go back to France. Sorry it's so long, but I was very excited about the programme so I thought I would share. Stay Funky Countess Jim XXX ____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
