Anthony, I totally agree. I absolutely adore this song. I never saw Toys, but I'm guessing it does just have to do with the movie. The song is beautiful though. It makes me happy. :) 2. > Tori say in an interview that Raspberry Swirl is > about Beenie referring to Beenie's sexual orientation No, no dear. Tori said that she loves Beenie on every level, but she's not into hair pie. She also states that men just don't see all the wonderfulness that is Beenie. I really don't think that Beenie is gay, but if she is, more power to her. :) 3.> "Bells for Her" was said to be written for her, so > I think she and Tori had had some sort of fall out. This may be true, but I'm pretty sure they are still close. I think they were able to put it back together again. I have a poem I'd like to share. I did not write this. It was written by Mary Oliver. I wrote this down in high school, because it meant something to me. I just want to know other people's take on this poem. Here goes: Rage by Mary Oliver You are the dark song of the morning; serious and slow, you shave, you dress, you descend the stairs in your public clothes and drive away, you become the wise and powerful one who makes all the days possible in the world. But you were also the red song in the night, stumbling through the house to the child's bed, to the damp rose of her body, leaving your bitter taste. And forever those nights snarl the delicate machinery of the days. When the child's mother smiles you see on her cheekbones a truth you will never confess; and you see how the child grows- timidly, crouching in corners. Sometimes in the wide night you hear the most mournful cry, a ravished and terrible moment. In your dreams she's a tree that will never come to leaf- in your dreams she's a watch you dropped on the dark stones till no one could gather the fragments- in your dreams you have sullied and murdered, and dreams do not lie. Anyways, it's 9:30 on a Saturday morning. I have to be at my wonderful job delivering pizza at 11:00. I just wanted to share something with you guys. I don't post much, but you guys are really like a part of my life. I'm always reading the crazy stuff you write. I love it. Hmm. Can't think of much else to say right now. Later we are going to Staples and buying an office chair. It kicks ass. It's about $50 and it's purple. If only we had a purple IMac to match it. :) That's all for now. Diana PS. I was watching this video I have of Washington DC 1992 and it rocks. I got it a long time ago and never watched it. Tori does sugar and whole lotta love. Only half way through it and keeping my fingers crossed for Mother. :) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo! (that was not meant to sound as snarky as it does!) for those who don't know what the movie is about, the plot from the imdb is: An eccentric toymaker's last wish is that his brother takes over the running of the business. The brother is a military General, and is out of touch with toymaking, and out of touch with reality too. The business should really have been given to Leslie, who was much more like his toymaking father. When the General starts making weapons instead of toys, Leslie decides to take action. woj ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 09 Apr 2000 14:16:31 -0400 From: fartachu Subject: Re: Beenie when we last left our heroes, Samantha Michelle Beer exclaimed: >not to go on about Beenie ad nauseum, but I think I heard >Tori say in an interview that Raspberry Swirl is about >Beenie referring to Beenie's sexual orientation (lesbian)- >"everybody knows I'm her man." bzzzzt. in several interviews from 1998, tori indicated that the song was written for a woman friend who has had a series of bad boyfriends. i don't ever recall tori saying who the friend was, though me not remembering is *far* from proof that something didn't happen! ;) anyways, here's a typical snippet: "I wrote it," Amos said, "for one of my girlfriends who just had a streak of men who really didn't get her. Sometimes I play the role of the man in my relationships with my female friends. I'm not talking physical, I'm talking on an emotional level. And so this is about being understanding. That if I were 6-foot-4 and had one less hole and a couple more round hairy things, there's no way that these men would be able to compete. Because I really think that they miss the beauty in the women that I find really attractive. They really miss it." that is taken from an article which was posted to torinews back in october 1998. the interview allegedly appeared in the louisville eccentric observer, but i can't find the article on the dent. hmmm. woj ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V5 #85 ************************************
