I sorta think it's comparing God to the "stereotype" of most men, by saying sometimes he'd rather go play golf, than do what he's supposed to be doing around "the house". Hello, The Hey Jupiter single is legit, and was released over in the UK (and Europe) in 1996. It's *extremely* common over here in the UK, and usually sells for about £3-4. However, it's usually overpriced at about £8, as the record shops claim it's an import. The version of Prof. Widow on it is Armand's Star Trunk Funkin' Mix (Radio Edit), so really, the USA Live EP is more interesting. I don't know where the biblical-sounding line is from.... (as an aside, my dad lives in Tampa FL and just got his golf clubs stolen...anyone in FL happen to know of any places you can find stolen clubs??) The Hey Jupiter cd with the Prof Widow remix is probably pretty common..I think I've seen it around here...I have the Jupiter cd with the live version of Prof Widow (which rocks :) anyone looking for bootlegs/videos - I suggest the tori-boot list..there are plenty of people who take pity on newbies and will do b&p's or 2for1's..the list is very high-traffic thouh so be sure to sign up on digest and you won't have a problem with too much mail. I've been trying to figure that out for my exposition but I can't for the life of me get to translate it, since I don't even know what it means. >>>>> "you got your 9 iron in the back seat, just in case" Well, a Nine Iron is a type of golf club, and the golf course is traditionally a place where (financially) privileged men meet up to get away from their 'little women' - indeed many golf courses (in the UK at least) still don't let women join, or only play on "Ladies Days", so the men can avoid them.... So my interp of that line is Tori pointing out that God is a "typical man" (in the bad sense!) and thinks he has a right to consider himself aloof etc, and if we flip that around I think the point being made is that there's a little (in some cases big) part of the male psyche that sometimes forgets that we're not god, not omnipotent, (i.e. why did the men who wrote the bible assume that God was 'one of them') and that we sometimes think we have a right to run off and hide on the golf course whenever it happens to suit us... but in the overall song (I *think*) Tori isn't necessarily saying that that is an awful thing that men should stop doing, she's just recognising that it's a part of their maleness... Well, that's what it said to me anyway! Any other ideas out there? Ooh, writing that was much more fun than working...
