I have a question about Cornflake Girl. Does anyone know anything about Mary Clayton (I don't know if I spelled her name right) who sang the "man with the golden gun" part of cornflake girl. Before hearing this song I had never heard of her. Has she done other things? Also, how did her singing in that song come about? If anyone has any info I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks a bunch! The drums and backing stuff is exactly the same as the performance. It's quite unusual. Even the harpy sounds very similar. I know Tori was singing it, and maybe actually playing the harp, but the band was definitely not doing much of anything. *shrug* matthew. today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration. that we are all one consciousness experiencing ourselves subjectively. there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream. and we are the imagination of ourselves. here's tom with the weather. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 12 Feb 2000 01:15:35 -0500 From: "Tori" Subject: pay per view I will be recording the pay per view show... if anyone wants a copy, email me... Well, we have some opened CDs in our store that are all half off. (note: they're all in good condition. I don't know if they're used, or just returns or what... but it's been slightly opened.. still looks in good condition.) So it would be about $8. If anybody is interested in this CD, let me know if you'd like to trade for it or send the cash for it and I'll go ahead and pick it up. I've never heard the music so I'm not sure if I'd like it or not, or else I would have picked it up. Anyway, let me know. And if anybody has any reviews (they suck! or.. they're awesome!) let me know. maybe I'd like my own copy. :) hehe. - -- ^_~Megasus~_^ http://members.xoom.com/Megasus/ ICQ# 14241089 "I don't think you even know what you think you just said..." - -Tori Amos Want to make 50 cents an hour, just for surfing the web? Hey all, Ok, so the subject line was weird. Hehe. Guys, I really need your help. I'm preparing my first exposition for my "Grammar Of Sense" class, a very interesting class by the way, and I want to do something with Tori. I have 3 expositions during the whole semester (term), the last one being my final exam, and since I want to shock all 3 times (that's what the class is about, shocking the rest of the people with whatever your present, creating "a different sense" from our regular rigid scheme of sense). I narrowed it down two 3 songs: God, Past The Mission and Muhammad My Friend. Perhaps Icicle but only If I *really* want to get risky. So, I don't consider myself too bad for interpreting, however, I really do feel I need all the help you can provide me. I am planning on starting with "God". I am going to work using the video as well, so I think all the shock value is going to come from the video. SO, for starters, I need every little insight you might have about this very very very interesting video (Tori's most interesting, along with "Past The Mission" and all the others from "Under The Pink"). Every reference, every detail, every image, connection with lyrics during certain points of the video, using particular imagery, reference to the different religions, parody of anything at all. The objective here is to be able to combine all the elements and then state what I consider is the new sense created by the video/song. To me, the song is initially about religion's perennial rejection of women. This is going to be so very cool because I think I might use Muhammed My Friend for my very last exposition, and how it talks about Jesus as a woman. So "God" would be a bit of a "sneak peek" about the subject, you know? Hehe. Now I'm all excited. So guys, please help. Send me everything you have on "God", both the song and the video. I still have a few weeks to prepare this as well as the other 2 expositions, so I can do something really cool for everyone to see. Maybe it'll turn someone into a Tori fan! :) As for the other two songs, I have lots of time for those, so let's worry about "God" right now! Okey dokey, thanks guys! I've been in choirs for the past five and a half years, and it looked to me like they were the ones singing. When one desires to sound like someone else, they can. Also, boy sopranos and altos tend to sound exactly like women, but with less vibrato, and can fool even a seasoned choir member. My guess is that it was real. I'll have to watch it again for the drums. faerie hugs and honey christina "religion is the opiate of the people" karl marx "i'm begging you before it ends just tell me where to begin" fiona apple "that's the trouble with survival of the fittest, isn't it, dominick? the corpse at your feet.
