I saw her 3 times on the DDI tour, and only two of those times did she use the organ. What she did was, they rolled the harpsi off stage and brought in the organ. So all three were never actually on stage at the same time. As for the drum machine, Im not sure; I never really saw one.. though Im not exactly sure what one looks like. I hope this helps. ~~maria ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 8 Feb 2000 04:28:44 EST From: Fairywinged@aol.com Subject: request from piano players hey there i am singer leather for my recital in a musicianship class and i need a recording of leather played at the piano. which i can't play. Does anyone know if anyone else has ever recorded it, or was it written for Tori? It's one of my favourite b(ee) sides. And 2) Like Pete said, where are all you people? When I first joined the list it was twenty or so posts a day, but now it's five or less. We need more posts! :o) Bye, Danny ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 8 Feb 2000 01:33:40 EST From: Lisa071573@aol.com Subject: ddi tour the organ was usually brought out at the end to take the place of the harpsichord (some crew guys would wheel out the organ and take the harpy away) so that would put the organ on the left (tori's right). As for the drum machine - all I remember (I only went to 4 DDI shows so someone correct me if I am wrong...) was the background music for the Talula Tornado mix...although at the Durham NH show there was some problem with something - Tori could hear this loud noise and said "what is that noise? it sounds like god is coming.." I don't know what it was she was having problems with but she said something like "I don't care I'm going to play this song anyway" and then went into (I think) Blood Roses..maybe that was a drum machine?? :P Lisa << know that on the Dew Drop Inn tour Tori toured with the piano, harpsichord, and an organ (and I think I read in some review on the Dent a drum machine). I have a few questions about that. How was the stage set up. I know that the piano faced the right and harpsichord face the left (if looking at the stage from the audience) but where was the organ usually (and the drum machine). Also, did she have the organ at every concert? The reason I ask this is because on the RAINN Benefit Concert video there was only the piano and the harpsichord. >> ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 07 Feb 2000 23:39:42 -0500 From: fartachu Subject: Re: [tori-boot] Re: tori-boot digest when we last left our heroes, Nadyne Mielke exclaimed: >For general Tori info, the best resources are the various Tori FAQs >available. How was the stage set up. > I know that the piano faced the right and harpsichord face the left (if > looking at the stage from the audience) but where was the organ usually (and > the drum machine). My first Tori concert was a DDI show at the Wang Center in Boston, in which she used all these marvelous toys. :) The organ was wheeled out and the harpischord was taken backstage when she played 'Professional Widow' (Merry Widow) and 'Hey Jupiter.' The 'drum machine' was used just for Talula-- tho' it was run (I assume) from the mixing board because there were lots of tracks besides just drums. The only time I've seen Tori use any sort of backing equipment is on the Kurzweil, which she didn't have yet. Caton, who provided the guitar effects, sat as he does on the RAINN benefit-- off to the right of the Bosey. On the subject-- does anyone remember the SNL performance of CALS in 96? With the backing boys choir, the women playing the huge drum set-up, and a bassist (George Porter, Jr.?). This was the first time I saw Tori with what I thought was her band, and was sad to see them not pop up again. ;) I know it was probably just a one-time thing, but the effect was stunning. Much better than the 'Cornflake Girl' performance on Jay Leno with the horn section and his studio band backing her up... Has Tori performed pre-'band' (pre Choirgirl) with these kinds of set-ups any other times? >>>>>>fairsoma ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V5 #33 ************************************
