But > just forget I even suggested my evil-competition-provoking-idea! GOD FORBID!! That should read "pointless, bandwidth wasting, signal-to-noise decreasing idea", I think you'll find. The list is here to discuss Tori and her music, surely, not for us to discuss each other and turn it into some kind of perverse popularity contest. And is Richard Handal's opinion less valuable than yours? Get used to knock-backs on ideas, they happen all the time on Internet lists both to me and everyone else. I just got my Feb. cable guide and there's no mention of it anywhere, not on Feb. 19. or anytime else for that matter. :-( Harlene. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Jan 2000 06:46:22 -0500 (EST) From: Richard Handal Subject: Re: To Handal and This List Riley said: > I was just trying to suggest something that could have been fun for > everyone to do. ITS JUST HARMLESS FUN. Not to be taken seriously, > jeez. You suggest we accuse one another of being "Most Obsessed" and think that's harmless fun? Have you no idea of the flame wars which would ensue? Comparing people--and by name, especially--does nothing but tear people apart from one another. The world already has far more of that than I'm comfortable with. Are you familiar with the VH1 TV show The List? HOW HORRIBLE! The sole purpose of it as far as I can tell is to provide a process to use to make catty remarks about public persons. There's nothing positive to possibly be gained whatsoever. I suppose the people who find that sort of thing to be entertaining would have also enjoyed seeing Christians thrown to the lions in ancient Rome. I do not find it to be remotely entertaining, and I have no intention of not speaking out against such blatant, orchestrated, even institutionalized mean-spiritedness when given the chance. The next time someone doesn't want honest opinions I suggest they not solicit them. Be seeing you, Richard Handal, H.G. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Jan 2000 23:21:53 -0600 From: "mr zebra" Subject: Concertina ON THE CHARTS Concertina has just debuted on Radio & Records' Adult Alternative chart at #29 for the week ending January 21. Surely she's listed on Gavin's charts too, but they only display down to 20, so Tori will likely be rising on both charts in the coming weeks. Matthew love and other socially acceptable emotions are morphine, cleverly concealing primal urges often felt but rarely seen. You could vote for your 2 favorite albums and your 2 favorite album covers. All albums, including Y Kant Tori Read, were on the list. My votes for favorite album were (1) Under The Pink and (2) To Venus And Back. My votes for favorite album cover were (1) Under The Pink and (2) Boys For Pele. Here are the results: Favorite Album Cover: -Boys For Pele = 11 votes -From The Choirgirl Hotel = 10 votes -Little Earthquakes = 7 votes -Under The Pink = 6 votes -To Venus And Back = 2 votes -Y Kant Tori Read = 0 votes Favorite Album: -Little Earthquakes = 9 votes -Under The Pink = 8 votes -From The Choirgirl Hotel = 8 votes -Boys For Pele = 7 votes -To Venus And Back = 7 votes -Y Kant Tori Read = 0 votes As you can see most everyone's favorite cover was either Boys For Pele or >From The Choirgirl. I figured YKTR would hardly get any votes for that, if any at all. The votes for favorite album were pretty well divided except for once again YKTR. I was kind of surprised YKTR didn't get at least 1 or 2 votes for that. Even though it was CONSIDERED a failure it seems like most people who have heard it have spoke pretty highly of it. Once again I want to thank everyone who took the time to vote. I really appreciated it. Thank you much!, Andrew ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 Jan 2000 03:49:05 EST From: RedSpark18@aol.com Subject: New Webring I've started a new webring. I Know what yer thinking... what the hell do we need another webring for. Well this webring serves a specific purpose. It is specifically for people with Tori inspired creativeness on their site. It is called You Have Yourself to Fear: A Webring for Tori Inspired Creativeness. Perhaps it will link people together that share a certain passion for creativity and for Tori Amos. If you are screwed and can't tape it, never fear, I plan to tape it as do (I'm sure) probably 1000 other Tori fans.. :) Lisa ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Jan 2000 12:59:59 EST From: "Terry Ferrell" Subject: i'm back Hey Guys, A little while ago I just sort of disappared off this and a few other tori mailing lists.
