You know what? I think I should just stop posting on this fantastic and friendly mailing list. Everytime anyone try to say or suggest something *SOMEONE* gets pissed off about it. Im sure a lot of you agree with me on this. Everyone is always correcting and nit-picking at everyone else for everything! Im not even going to be polite and say the usual "nothing personal" or "just my .02.." I was just trying to suggest something that could have been fun for everyone to do. ITS JUST HARMLESS FUN. Not to be taken seriously, jeez. *sarcasm* I certainly appreciate your input! But just forget I even suggested my evil-competition-provoking-idea! I forget the link. secondly, what is the webpage for the tori lyrics database that you can download on your computer? i had it but lost it. thanx. anthony :) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 22 Jan 2000 23:46:15 -0500 From: "Kristy" Subject: Re: Raspberry Swirl - Purple Haze? Purple Haze is a college a capella group who did their own version of RS! It's extremely cool, imho. If anyone would like to go download it and take a listen (it's very worth it) go to www.audiofind.com and search on tori. :o) it's there! another group also did TIYH...but I can't remember where the mp3 was. i think the TIYH was better than RS. That song's been out since 1996, I can't believe I've never heard of it before. Does anyone know of any mention Tori may have made of this? He's obviously a big fan of hers. Very interesting. Feel free to post your ideas on this > little idea I copied! :) [groan] My idea is that the world already has more than enough competitiveness in it without people going out of their way to create even more for the sake of some form of supposed "entertainment." I find sharing and cooperating with one another to achieve some of the common goals of a group of like-minded people to be a much better use of the internet than devising new and "improved" ways for us to end up pointing fingers at one another and jumping down each other's throats. I saw a number of items in today's batch of posts which shared information. I think that's fantastic. This is the main reason I got on the internet in the first place. I expect almost every single one of us has gained from some information others have shared on this and other lists. How might we encourage more of *that*? In what manner could any of us POSSIBLY gain anything from making lists comparing one another in any fashion? I can't say it's surprising to see this sort of mindset--here, in the age where TV programs are conceived entirely around the notion of making lists of such superlatives, largely for the "fun" of seeing people say nasty things about other people. That isn't *my* idea of fun. It does make me feel a bit ashamed sometimes to be part of the human race, though. Yes, you've pushed one of my hot buttons, but you've gotten my honest opinion. Nothing against you personally, Riley. I doubt you mean any harm. I just hope you can find a less potentially hurtful way to become less bored. How can anyone with internet access be bored? Strange. It's a big world out here. Go to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy website or something: http://www.h2g2.com/ It's highly interactive. Or maybe, go paint something on your computer: http://www.ben2.ucla.edu/~permadi/java/spaint/spaint.html Maybe you'd enjoy reading about Scotland: http://www.virtual-inn.co.uk/scottish-links.html More specifically, read about the tiny Scottish Isle of Iona: http://www.scotland-inverness.co.uk/iona.htm That even relates to Tori, in case you need or want that. Iona's a magical place. One can lose one's self in daydreaming about Iona. It's beautiful, and has tons of history. Which sucks, because I don't have one either. I recommend to everyone that doesn't have one to call the information number and find out so that you can make arrangements. I plan on going to a friend's or relative's house to tape this one! I SO freakin' excited! Hey, I'm back after a rather extensive leave of absence due to my damn messed-up computer! I've read most of the 200-some messages that were sent to me by you guys, and so now I gotta make some responses! Don't worry, I'll make it brief! I finally got the complete videos video! Oh it's so good, I've been watching it ever since! I love each and every video, but one does not fit (at least, in my opinion). I mean, all of the music videos completely fit with their respective songs, except for one. The European version of Cornflake girl confuses me... it's probably just since I saw the American version first, but still... it just doesn't FIT with Cornflake Girl. It's just... well Cornflake Girl is such a colorful song for one. And the girls fighting at the end? I was just a bit confused. Don't get me wrong, I did like the video, I just liked the American version a bit better. My favorite videos are Past the Mission, God (just one question: what religion is she representing with the candle... I can figure out most of the other ones, but is this witchcraft or something else?), Talula (I'll admit, It's the blow-torch that got me), and Spark. I read on this list about the possibility of a To Venus and Back video... does anyone know anymore about this? What is this pay-per-view thing that I keep reading about? Is Tori doing a special? Okay, that's about it! I'm so happy to be back! While his castle might have been called that, the word tuillery in French means either shingles (like the things on the roof), or there is a beautiful garder called the Tuilleries, that is always quiet. I know this because my French teacher is a Parisian (all of our second, third and fourth language classes are taught by native speakers), and I asked her.
