I don't know if everyone knows this already, but I didn't, so I think maybe someone else hasn't either. =) Anyway, the point, as many know I'm sure, Josephine was Napolean Bonaparte's lover, and the thing I DIDN'T know was that Napolean's castle was called 'the Tuileres'. I know that's not how it's spelled in the TVAB lyric book, but that's how it's spelled in my French 3 book. So, I'm going with the book! I was talking to a friend who is on a Gillian Anderson mailing list, and they are doing this little thing where they nominate people for different superlative categories on the list. For example, Best Signature or Most Enigmatic. We could apply it to Tori and have like Most Obsessed or Most Knowledgeable. Everyone following? I dunno, I think it would be kinda fun! Feel free to post your ideas on this little idea I copied! :) really good tea. You can find it at: http://www.powerup.com.au/~evos/dan/tori/tald.html In regard to the Lady Macbeth theme of "Professional Widow", I think what the lyrics are about is that the person in the song wants power at any cost.. [the song "is an extreme part. It can get hard because I want to be king. All of us women want to be king but we have to be queen. You know, it's like Lady Macbeth or something." And of course - incidentally - there's a whole stack of quotes about Tori's link between Pro Widow and Lady Macbeth in the TALD, at http://www.powerup.com.au/~evos/dan/tori/bfp.html#professional_widow Enjoy, Dani. == Danielle Ringrose, Graduate School of Education, Uni of Qld s338990@student.uq.edu.au personal page: http://student.uq.edu.au/~s338990/ "scary shit happens when you become ringrose's bitch" -- David Kobayashi. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Jan 2000 17:26:21 -0500 From: "Bryana" Subject: Raspberry Swirl - Purple Haze? Rigdon" Subject: wax that @$$? Um, I don't know if this is a real tori sighting, but a rapper named Tonedeff sampled "Cloud in my Tongue" A LOT in his song "Circles. The part where she sings, "The girl's in circles and circles and circles again, got to stop spinning." etc. It's not that terrible of a rap song, but here - you judge for yourself (in realaudio)! It came up on the Dent and on the usenet, in a tori newgroup. http://www.tonedeff.com/media/circles.ram Tonedeff talks about how "I met this honey named Tori Amos," in one in verse and goes on to use her song titles to create the verse. That part is pretty cool. But some lyrics from the next verse are as follows: "It's a disgrace when I can't even write a rhyme because everytime I find her dreamin' of her creamin' in my mind." "lose my vision everytime she passes by, it's a mission just to get glasses to wax that ass but it's like a candle never had a fire to light so my dick is a wick and i'm getting some matches tonight. . . so if she really wants to take you for a spin, she shoots for nothing but the Holiday Inn, we in circles" I think I'm offended. I'm not really sure. I don't think he's saying anything bad about her - I think he likes Tori! Otherwise, he wouldn't know all her song titles (including Here in My Head!) and some verses (from China). There is still way too much "machismo" in this song for me to consider it a flattering tribute by any stretch of the imagination. ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V5 #19 ************************************
