Rigdon" Subject: tori's parents' opinions My friend Ben from school had the opportunity to briefly chat (about 5 minutes or so of which I made him recount every second) with Tori's parents on the last tour. I forget at which show, but I believe it was the Cincinatti show. I remember him telling me about how Tori's father was raving about how he loved a "1000 Oceans," thinking it was probably one of her best if not best songs yet. I thought it was a really interesting thing to know. - -emily >1. I went to the local music shop today and went to see if they had anything new of Tori, not expecting any surprises. Well, I got one. 1, 000 Oceans was in with Baker, Baker live and Winter Live. So I had to race around to find my mum (who is the current source of money) and beg for $10. I get home to find that the bonus video is actually 1, 000 Oceans AND Bliss. So I'm very happy. Is this the actual official next single for Australia, or is it imported? Does anyone know? P.S: The clip to 1, 000 Oceans goes really well with the song. I got goosebumps! Was this to represent what could have happened with the Y2K bug? And I loved seeing Tori mucking around in Bliss. She makes the most hilarious faces sometimes! ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 13 Jan 2000 02:38:28 -0500 From: "Emily W. Rigdon" Subject: recital songs Kat, I don't know how beginner you are talking, but by far the EASIEST song in the Tori piano books is "Twinkle!" It's one note at a time stuff. I don't know that I agree that mother is one of the easier ones, but "Winter" definitely is, as it stays in the same key. I always thought "Baker Baker" was an easy one for me (but I always liked lots of sharps) and "Upside Down" (from the Little Earthquakes book) as well. Some other transcriptions are easy to play, but I think everyone would agree that they aren't even worth the effort to piece them together because of the poor interpretation in the books (I agree CG is at the top of that list - to only have the good stuff from that song!), especially for people like me for whom it takes to many hours to figure something out by ear. Good luck at you recital! emily ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 13 Jan 2000 08:59:56 -0000 From: "Mike Gray" Subject: The rumoured Vince-Clarke project from a couple of years back (Tori content!) Hi Guys, This was sent to the Vince Clarke (Yaz/Erasure/Depeche Mode) mailing list earlier today >Looks like another Vince Clarke project will be seeing the light of day >soon, just received an advance copy of: Family Fantastic...Nice! > >This CD is entirely Vince Clarke (and sounds like it..) plus guest vocals >from Kate Pierson (B-52s) and Tori Amos (Tori is backing on one track.) Not >sure who else is involved but it's going to be released on Hypnotic (AKA >Cleopatra.) > >13 tracks total: >Get Up >Treat Yourself >Funky Feet >Spread Your Love >Hey Nu Nu >Halfway to Heaven >One Love One Life >Better Days >Soy La Reina >Doin the Thing >Hey Nu Nu (trance) >Get Up (beep) >Better Days (acoustic) > >There might be a 12" coming for this album too..i'll keep you updated. >There's no catalog number on the disc, but that's typical for cleopatra... At the time the first rumour circulated, it was said that neither Tori nor Kate Pierson made an appearance on the record. However this posting (from someone who owns the recording) appears to show that she is involved. Just thought I'd mention it. The only way someone would have this information is if they invaded their privacy, and I would hope that no-one (outside a journalist doing a scheduled interview) has done that. I think we can safely say that Tori's dad likes Winter. ;) >2. Do Tori's parents usually go to a lot of her shows? They attend at least a couple of shows on each tour. For example, they attended the Ft. Lauderdale club tour show in 1998. >3. I know Tori has a brother and I think she has a sister too-correct me if >I'm wrong. Tori's brother attends shows, although I'm unsure about her sister. Parents and siblings of celebrities aren't interviewed that often. (Can't you see the Rolling Stone cover with Tori's dad? "The Cornflake Girl's dad!" ('cause we all know they'd make that error) Err, no.) My guess is that the only time we'd see such a thing would be a VH-1 Behind the Music. >4. I once heard a Bristol/Wales station play the dance remix of Jackie's Strength, which surprised me greatly seeing as it wasn't even released here. On a different note, for the first time ever on the radio I heard a Fiona Apple song! Radio 1 are playing her new single, which means it *should* get into the charts. The dj (Zoe Ball) even said that she had an amazing voice. Toodle pip!
