Here's what songs are on it (which are all already on other piano songbooks): Caught a Lite Sneeze China Cornflake Girl God Hey Jupiter In the Springtime of his Voodoo Jackie's Strength Me and a Gun Past The Mission Pretty Good year Professional Widow Raspberry Swirl Silent All These Years Spark Talula Winter Other released books are TVAB songbook as mentioned by Mike Vardal, and special ordered items from b&n which I have not yet received: Tori Amos Fingerstyle Guitar (I'm assuming this is guitar tabs?), and Tori Amos (that's all there was for the title, just "Tori Amos" so I don't know what this is yet...if anyone knows, pls share some info and if not, I will find out when I receive this!) :) Toodles ~ Leif At 05:53 AM 1/9/2000 -0500, Fairywinged@aol.com wrote: >no one has reviewed this tori book i am just wondering what it is i have no >idea is it a piano book? >and is it a good one >kat ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 9 Jan 2000 09:15:49 -0800 (PST) From: Jennifer Mitts Cypres Subject: Re: the TALD Concorder@aol.com wrote: >look at the place i've put in brackets: >" The nightmares agonize me since my childhood. That sounds like it refers to her being molested in her bed while everyone else is downstairs, even though at the same time we all know that the song *also* talks about masturbation. Personally, and this may be WAY TOO PERSONAL to share here, but I'll do it for the sake of the topic-- I was molested by my stepfather when I was 5 and then started masturbating very shortly after that (because I had NO IDEA that what he did to me was wrong, and it felt good, to be honest-- what does a 5-year-old know?). I *think* most women start masturbating much later in life, or am I wrong? I'm just thinking that maybe early childhood molestation *might* lead to earlier-than-usual childhood masturbation. I love the song Concertina, I love it a lot, but > I'm not even sure if its worth my money to buy it since I already have the This is a statement which is in a way, completely ridiculous, and reminds me of the people who complain about the number of concerts Tori does in the US. My point, of course, is that you guys in the US are suddenly getting a really good deal out of things - lots of singles, mostly enhanced, plenty of concerts and press, while the rest of the world suffers an extreme Tori drought. You can't blame the company for releasing something that has never been released in the US before. It's not exactly blatant profiteering. They're going to release a good value, low-price product entirely filled with never-before released in that territory - if that makes you mad, then goodness knows what you expected. A new mix, and two new live trakcs - good grief, that makes me fume! And coming after *four* other singles (if we count both CDs of the two previous ones) and the opportunity of an import one, darn that's just outrageous. And only *three* US tour this year? (with Alanis, solo, then the recent one) Damn them all! As a European who has seen *one* concert this season and *one* bundled single release, and as someone who has friends in territories (see Australia, for an example) who haven't seen a Tori gig for ?three? albums now - and see very few single releases, I think the US should be feeling very lucky indeed. Thanks to the taping abilities of Jess Walrath and the mastering abilities of Keith Shapiro, our first CD-R tree will be of Tori's last show on her 1999 "To Dallas and Back" tour. This show was recorded on 11 October 1999, at the Magness Arena in Denver, Colorado. If you're not familiar with a CD-R or tape tree, here's how it works. There are two types of people on the tree: "branches" and "leaves". A branch is someone who can make CD-R copies of the show and is willing to distribute them to leaves. A leaf is someone who doesn't have the ability to make CD-Rs. Once we have received all the applications to be in the tree, leaves will be matched up with branches. We then distribute copies of the CD to the branches of the tree. In turn, the branches make copies for the leaves. This way, we can get a lot of copies of this show out in a remarkably short period of time. This will be a tree for B&P or a flat fee of US$10. The flat fee includes the CDs and a 2-CD case. Artwork will be available for download at a later time. Branches MUST be willing to do B&P and US$10. A branch can do a trade with their leaves (if the leaves have anything to trade), but there will be no trades-only branches of this tree. The setlist for this 2-CD set is: Disc 1: God, Black-Dove (January), Crucify, Riot Poof, "He Wears Heels", Father Lucifer, Concertina, Sugar, Smells Like Teen Spirit, Agent Orange, Hey Jupiter, Suede, Spring Haze, Cornflake Girl. Disc 2: The Waitress, Precious Things, Professional Widow, Black Swan, Lust, Bells For Her, Tear In Your Hand, 1000 Oceans. Bonus tracks: 104.1 WXPT, The Point, Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN, September 16, 1999: Purple People, Interview #1, Concertina, Interview #2, Lust, Interview #3, 1000 Oceans. To sign up for this tree, go to and sign up for the mailing list. Further instructions will be mailed to you. Please note: signups for this tree are only done via the web, we cannot accept email signups. Applications for both branches and leaves must be received by 11:59:59 PM EST, Jan. 30, 2000. If you have any questions, please email Keith at or Nadyne at . Or, visit the Denver Tree web page at . Feel free to email or post this to any forum you think would be interested. If you do pass it along, please do not edit the content in any way. - -*- end announcement -*- - -- ** -- ** -- ** -- ** -- ** -- ** -- ** -- ** -- ** -- ** -- ** -- ** -- Keith D. If you have the other books of sheet music, this one is a waste of time. If you don't have the other books, a better choice for a first book IMHO is the _Anthology_, since it includes bee-sides. /nad ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Jan 2000 10:05:59 EST From: "Ms. Shaigirl" Subject: Re: Concertina! GRR! The way I look at it, it's the way they market the music. They try to appeal to the masses; not everybody buys imports. In fact, most people that buy them, do so because of b-sides, rare, or live songs and/or collectability (personal or profit). So looking at it that way, most people in the US probably haven't heard the b-sides, rare, or live songs that get released overseas. What better way to introduce them, than to use the same ones on a US release? Besides... single sales don't go anywhere if the exact music it contains can be found on the album. That's why the usually add one or two snazzy, attractive b-sides to make the single more likely to be bought. As I said, that's just the way I look at it... but what the hell do I know! ~~Shaigirl - ----Original Message Follows---- Date: 9 Jan 2000 11:09:48 EST From: Surreal00@aol.com Subject: Concertina! "I am very disappointed in the choice of alternate songs on the Venus singles." i would love to hear "zero point" and "snow cherries from france" or some other new material instead of live stuff, but i have been very pleased with the chosen songs. i mean, winter and baker baker from 1000 oceans were so amazing! and i cant wait to hear "twinkle" live... "I'm not even sure if its worth my money to buy it since I already have the songs." only a psychotic collector (no offence to those out there of course!!! its understandable!) would care to own both. im going to go for concertina, because it will be $4 us like most us singles, and they probably wont fuck it up because its atlantic, not east/west. "Although I am always looking to expand my Tori collection so I probably will end up buying it. :)" yea. im still going to try to get my hands on glory of the 80's. i guess were all so-called psychotic collectors. *pulls foot out of her mouth* were you find it unfortunate, i find it a blessing i think that those people who found glory easy to attain will agree with you. although i think that more people were on the unattainable side. my thoughts are my own, courtniieee http://lust.darkflower.net p.s. did anybody else find that vh1's choice of hard rock live coverage boring? like, who hastn seen precious things before?? jeez. i was so hoping for the "criticly acclaimed" "cooling" that everybody was raving about. but no. they even cut her in half to make room for beth hart! both artists should have gotten their own shows, in my humble opinion. and they bleeped "PUSSY" out of "sugar"!! argh. stupid corporate bastards... :P ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 09 Jan 2000 22:39:06 EST From: "Harlan Publications" Subject: Request for Tori fans to respond to Nov. 1999 Spin magazine article Hey all, I'm working on a piece for a magazine called Burnt about the misrepresentation of Tori Amos and her fans by the popular press, using as a cornerstone for my piece Spin's November 1999 article "The Enchanted Forest," which makes several defamatory claims about Tori Amos fans, including: - "Tori Amos is the ultimate cult artist, the fervor and devotion of her fan base far outweighing things like album sales or radio play." - "For the most part, there's no such thing as a casual Tori fan. People either dismiss her music as pretentious and twee, or they cover their whole bodies in Tori tattoos." - "It's no wonder misfits are drawn to her..." - "The more impenetrable her lyrics become, the more distance she puts between herself and her cult, the more obsessed fans become with cracking her code. Amos has transformed from humble empathizer to diviner of truth, one who feels that the People That Come to the Shows need her to enlighten them, that she can take them someplace better if they follow her music's metaphorical map. And many of them now relate to her the way housewives relate to Oprah: Disciples studying at the feet of a secular leader who has read all the right books and found a higher wisdom."
