"Women must understand that simply attacking or hating all men is just another form of disempowerment. A woman has to realize that when she makes a man crawl it doesn't give her power. All it will do is make her puke eventually. Rather than say "all men are bastards" let's say "all men are infants, until they decide to be men." Calling them bastards is boring at this stage." - -Tori Amos > > At 06:24 PM 1/2/00 +0100, Jeanette Joske Smedegaard wrote: > > > >a friend of mine asked me the following - i could not answer it . can any > >help me? > >Has Tori ever made any Prince copys or performed with him? > > Tori has covered "Purple Rain" in concert. I'm assuming you're talking about the 12" vinyl, because the 7" has only 2 tracks on it. :o) The 12" god vinyl is listed as US $15-20 on the rmta price guide. You can check things with the price guide yourself at http://www.rmta.org/rmta/rmt-a/price.html It's quite thorough and the only things it doesn't include are things that aren't worth much at all. Use it, it's very helpful! :o) hth. Does anyone know where I can get Quicktime video clips of anything, but Tear In Your Hand, most particularly. I've tried Musical Butterfly site, but none of the links work. Is there anywhere else? More than one ad is selling the promo video of 1000 oceans, the cheapest being for £10 plus p+p (about £1.50) Does anyone know if you can get it cheaper than that? I'd really like to see the video, but I'm not gonna pay that much for it. The same goes for the Glory video, which is on sale in RC for £15. I've tried watching them on the internet but they tend to freeze every few minutes then take ages to load up again. Thanks, Danny :o) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 Jan 2000 09:32:08 -0400 From: Ken Tough Subject: Re: God vinyl "Aimee" wrote: > I was browsing in a used CD store the other day, and I > came across a vinyl God single - It had 4-5 tracks on it, all > remixes of God. As for price, check http://www.rmta.org/rmta/rmt-a/price.html or Lianne MacDonald's collectables page http://zip.to./tori. I will say that there seems to have been masses of them pressed since that and the God CD single fill the Tori Amos slot in most second hand record boxes at flea markets, etc. I do have a bit of info on the record though, a sort of insight I had while reading an interview with Steve Caton in Virtual Guitar online magazine: http://www.virtualguitarmagazine.com/Steve_Caton/SC1.htm It's only my analysis of events, but it seems to account for all the remixes on that early single. When they were recording Under the Pink, Caton's ideas about the guitar backing was a bit radical for Tori, and especially for the record company execs who saw God as the big mainstream hit single. He held firm, so to give him a chance they made a bunch of different mixes, and put them out on a promo to radio stations. Caton's original was seen as popular, and was the one which wound up on UtP. - -- Ken Tough Montserrat, W.I. ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V5 #3 ***********************************
