Besides Pele, which has a few little one and half minute songs, LE, UTP, FTCGH are all 12 tracks long. Orbiting is 11 and Still Orbiting is 13, averaged together, 12. Does anyone thinks Tori has done this purposly, or perhaps it has an unconscious meaning? In the past Tori has shown that the numbers she uses are not just simple bullshit to make things soung pretty, but are symbolic. "Let me put this situation badly. A Clockwork Orange has never been published entirely in America. The book I wrote is divided into three sections of seven chapters each. Take out your pocket calculator and you will find that these add up to a total of twenty-one chapters. 21 is the symbol of human maturity, or used to be, since at 21 you got the vote and adult responsibility. Whatever its symbology, 21 was the number I started out with. Novelists of my stamp are interested in what is called arithmology, meaning that number has to mean something in human terms when they handle it. The number of chapters is never entirely rbitrary." --Anthony Burgess. peace out with faerie hugs Christina "religion has become much too important in our culture. so i say, 'get off the cross, we need the wood' " tori amos "do me a favor; it's the least that you can do. don't treat me like i am something that happened to you. i, i envy you, your ignorance; i hear that it's bliss" ani difranco "you know it's true, I'm part of you" tori amos - ----- Original Message ----- From: Jenelle Campion To: Precious Things (E-mail) Sent: Friday, September 24, 1999 5:27 PM Subject: patterns > > I was just sitting back and thinking about tori and all her glory and i > came to 2 neet kinda parralels of pre-band tori albums and post band tori > albums...they both kinda support the idea that tori had to startover > muscially when she picked up the band. > > first, if you compare LE and FTCGH: they are both "inspired" by an extreme > physical situation (rape and miscarrige), both are very stirpped bare > emotional feelings (to me at least), LE is her diary and FTCGH is her inner > roadmap which are very similar ideas > then, if you compare UTP and TVAB, they are both more random topically (I > know UTP is the impressionist painting, but i dont know if TVAB is defined > yet) > so maybe her next album will be like BFP wihta band.....which would > rock!!! > > secondly, in the first Trilogy teh covers get progressivly darker (LE is > white, UTP blue gray, BFP dark blue) and in the second set tehy are getting > lighter (FTCHG black, TVAB maroon) > > though most of this is based on loose conncetions that i may be forcing, > and cant really be proven to be anything more untill her next ablum comes > out......but what do you all think? > > Jenelle > > "It's so easy to create soundbites.
