I don't plan to get it... *shrug* Not a big fan of the song. But anyway, we haven't gotten that sign thing yet. Hmph. I wonder when we'll get it. It could be their doing it as a promotional thing telling you in advance how much it's going to be so you know it'll be cheap there, to come back and get it when it's released. Good idea, IMO. But of course, they could be dumb, too. LOL. Me, I can't wait until we start getting the little tags for it. :-D And NIN too. Usually I wouldn't say anything but no one has posted anything about the Chicago concert (they probably will tomorrow but anyway). I'm extremely sorry if I start to babble (which I do a great deal). So I was totally nervous and excited all at once because this is my first Tori concert. I went with my two friends Angela and Mariah (Mariah barely knows Tori but Angela is truly an EWF). So we got there around 6:50 or 7:00 (We didn't really want to go the M&G cause I would have absolutely no idea what to say to Tori, I'd probably start hyperventilating and I didn't feel like getting me arse kicked) and Lotusland had already started even though the tickets said the concert started at 7:30 (But I figured it had already started cause people on the this list mentioned that you should come early). But I wasn't too disappointed we missed most of their show because I'd already heard some of their songs and I saw enough of them to know they're pretty okay (I think I missed "Don't Bring Me Down", if they even played it). So anyway because I'm an idiot and I can't remember anything I brought a pen and a piece of paper to write down the songs Tori played (I can do something and forget what I did like 2 minutes later). And we didn't have all that good seats (pavilion seats but they were like way back near the lawn; for anyone who was there section 202 UU seats 11-13) so I couldn't see Tori clearly when she was on the stage (I couldn't figure out where she was until the middle of the second song) But they had the 2 big tv screen thingies to make up for it. But of course with my horrible luck, this HUGE pole was in my way. =o/ But I could move over a bit and I could see most of the screen and her and even without moving I could see like half of the screen. So anyway the setlist was... *God (As someone mentioned before [I think] she began singing while she was still backstage and she came out and everybody cheered, so on so on.) *Sugar (I don't have the Hey Jupiter single yet so I didn't know what song it was at first--I felt kinda slow--but I realized it was Sugar after she said it a few times, I may be wrong though) *Past the Mission *Juarez (I just love this song. It's wonderful) *Blood Roses (Also as other people mentioned I didn't recognize it at first but when she first started singing the very beginning part I guessed it was Blood Roses) *Bliss *Landslide (when she first started playing, I absolutely freaked out. I was so happy because this is one of my favorite songs and then Tori singing it! :D) *Cloud On My Tongue (she told a little story about how in the early 1990s she was playing a show and this guy from Borneo asked her to go away with him for 4 days and she told him her boyfriend was already gonna take her somewhere for 4 days, etc. As soon as she said Borneo I knew she was gonna play CoMT) *Suede (I was so happy she played this song cause I was so hoping she would) *Professional Widow *Hotel *The Waitress (it was a lot longer yet still incredible) *And of course she finished out with Precious Things (I haven't listened to LE in a while so I forgot some of the lyrics to PT). But I was dancing and singing along to every song through the whole set. And in the middle of some songs one of these two people in the row in front of me would scream and yell and such and it was kinda like "umm...hello shush yer mouth!" but we were too far back for Tori to yell at them. Heh. I think her set was exactly 70 or 75 minutes. But we were debating whether we were gonna stay for Alanis and we ended up staying because we hadn't gotten our shirts and such yet so we went during Alanis' set. I got a Venus Envy keyring (I didn't really like the necklaces) and a tourbook (I absolutely love the picture on the cover). I didn't get a shirt cause they're always either too long for me or too small in the chesticular area. Anyway, I loved Alanis' first album but I don't really like her new stuff but I still sang along to the songs I knew, even though I had forgotten some of the words to a few. Totally off the subject but I saw a girl from my guitar class at school but I didn't say anything to her. It seemed like a lot of people left right after Tori and I kinda felt bad for Alanis. When Alanis said something to the affect of thanking Tori or something about Tori this guy two seats to the right of me said "Tori Amos sucks". But Alanis isn't that bad. (You see how chaotic and random my mind is) But overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my first Tori concert. She was absolutely magnificent. That totally made, not even my day more like my year. :D I want to see her again. Soon. Like in a few days. Heh. But I'll hush now. Baibai. my $0.26, Adjoa~* P.S. If anyone's wondering (I doubt it but) I had on these big black wideleg jeans with zebra print inserts on the sides and dingy black t-shirt with "Boycott Grapes!" across the chest, white glittery spiked wristband, dark complexion, really big dark brown eyes and black hair? Heh. ;D ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 Sep 1999 20:10:23 -0500 From: "Daisy Dead Petals" Subject: concert in chicago Can I vent??? I went to the concert in Chicago on Saturday, and you wouldnt believe the horrible day I had. I was keeping the whole group's tickets on my wallet for safe keeping. We stopped at one of those oasises--McDonald's over the freeway deals--to pee and get gas. I took my walet into the bathroom with me and left it there by accident!! We drove for miles and miles (I live about 6 hours away from the venue if there is little traffic) in bumper to bumper traffic before I convinced the driver to turn around so I could search for my wallet. We finally got back to the McDonalds and it was NOWHERE. We dug through the trash cans and everything. No one had seen it. I had cancelled all of my credit cards and a cop was on the way over when the manager of McDonalds was yelling at me telling me that they had found it in the gift shop! I burst into tears aand pulled out the tickets and made quite a scene because I wa so happy I was still going to the show! Forget the money and credit cards (which were still in there!)! I wanted to see TORI!!!!!!!!!! We missed the meet and greet because of my stupidity--did anybody go? How was it? Tori was fantastic. Alanis has a terrible backing band. I really *tried* to like her show! I really did! I looked for EWF shirts and only saw one girl with a toriphile T shirt on. Hey--email me if you read this, Toriphile-lady! Im the one who yelled "nice shirt" at you! I am telling you, you guys are being very gracious. Some of you told me that you entered a bunch of times and really poured your heart out. I would like to read what you all submitted too! I am convinced that mine got chosen more on the basis that it is SHORT than anything else, but I am pleased nonetheless. I did not access my Alloy account to see if I was a finalist. They sent me an email directly. I have gotten no other correspondence other than the message I posted in the last post. I dont know for sure if there are ONLY 12 finalists or not. There were 11 other email addresses on the email, so that is why I assumed there were only 12. I do not have a list of names of finalists. Any other questions or comments just email me. If you have comments on the poem, you can email me too. You can tell me that it sucks, or if you like it--I am not "protective" of my writing. I would like to know how to improve.
