CH: Although it supposed to be a co-headline, I think some people marketing it or organizing it feel it to be the Alanis tour, with Tori tagging along as the special guest star who opens for Alanis... Hello Fellow EWF I want to bring a camera. This is my first time seeing Tori and I want proof that I was there for my self.I know they say no cameras...but has anyone ever brought one anyway? And if so,how?Should I try to do this, cause don't they frisk you?If so should I bring a disposable camera,or my own???I know no flash is the way to go,but she won't be on till about 8pm...will it be light enough?Forgive me for being silly...I have never been to an outdoor venue...and my last concert was about 9 years ago in a small place called the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles with Concrete Blonde performing!! This is one of the times that I wish I was James Bond with a watch/camera contraption on my wrist.Oh how I envy him right now! Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. You can reply to me off the list so people don't have to keep deleting mail =) Thanks! It was my second show of hers. It wasn't my favorite but there was STRIKING diffrences. Diffrences I did not like! I wasn't as close as I would have liked but, I was still close! But during China (which was soooo beautiful I thought I was gonna cry!) people were "woooing her? Or during quiet parts everyone would errupt? When I saw her before, you could hear a pin drop! Everyone was really respectful. We did all sit until the end and cheered when the song was over! I know it does sound boring but it was the most moving concert I have ever been to! And I would talk to everyone around me! I had great conversations. But at this show I was surrounded by Alanis fans who were killing time until she came out! I said to one woman (who was complaining) "Why didn't you just come later?" Don't get me wrong, I loved the concert! I did! And why was she yelling at that chick? I couldn't make out what was happening? Me and my buds thought it was extra lyrics? >> To which I replied: Hey I was there too! I saw you standing in line for teeshirts but I didn't say hello because I was talking to this girl.... which yer right... tons of great conversations. But I think this was the problem with this concert, it was a mixed crowd with Alanis and Tori fans.... And Alanis fans are roudy people, especially since Alanis fans are so widespread because of her extensive radio play. Remember Tori saying that her fans are few and far between and you have to be 'mentally elite' to understand and appreciate her music... maybe all you have to be is screwed over by a man to appreciate Alanis music.. I'm sorry! Did that sound harsh?! But it's true that crowd was rowdy... But still Tori rocked... and I don't blame her for yelling at that lady, I was getting annoyed too.... See I was sitting way down in front and you don't notice half the shit that goes on unless yer in the front. When Tori was out there she was yelling at that lady in the white shirt during "The Waitress"... that lady was f*cking annoying. She made the whole row get up during the song so she could shimmy her way out to get some beer or something... but then she had to shimmy back because she forgot her money... then she shimmied back again to grab her husband/boyfriend/date... So that's a total shimmy time of 6 shimmies! It annoyed me! :) But all in all I knew I should probably expect that because of the alanis/tori circumstances... Oh wait I forgot to mention an incident that almost caused Alanis/Tori bloodshed! These two guys were totally yelling at eachother because this one shall we say "Alanis" guy was talking and talking and talking during Tori's set... well the other guy that had come for Tori was getting so pissed and threw his beer on him... They had a huge fight all screaming and yelling.. I'm surprised they didn't claw eachother! But alls well that ends well... Tori and Alanis respect eachother even if they're fans sometimes disagree! Take care! RED ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Sep 1999 00:57:14 EDT From: Ariellexx@aol.com Subject: =?ISO-8859-1?Q?5=BD=20Weeks=20Tour?= Hi all.I don't want to rub anyone the wrong way so I hope I don't offend anyone.I am not particularly a fan of Alanis. In fact,I absolutely hated her first hit and second and most that followed.I only like one of her songs,Mary Jane (I believe).I absolutely adore Tori, from her music, straight down to her generosity and appreciation for her fans. As for the 5½ weeks tour I am so happy that she decided to do it,wether it was with Alanis,or even Jewel.I know some people in the world (and the list) like Jewel, but I am not fond of her music, but I would still attend the concert for the sole purpose of seeing Tori. This will be the first time I will get to see her and I am more than prepared to sit through two opening acts and half of Alanis's set just to soak up ever minute of live performance Tori is willing to grace us with. On the subject of co-headlining...I have never seen two people/bands co-headline before, but seeing as both artists have their own opening acts that makes sense that they are co-headlining and not Tori opening for Alanis. What does it matter what order they perform in?Would it be better that Alanis play first so we would all (fans and non fans) have to sit through her set?I for one am glad that Tori is first...that means if I get the opportunity I can ditch her performance and do something I would really enjoy, like eat a piece of boysenberry pie or grab a butterfinger blizzard at the local Dairy Queen! Ooops...I got side tracked...as I was saying somewhere up there...In the past they have had big named people open for another perfomer (please don't ask me who,I can't recall at this time). It does not make them less famous or appreciated. There is a reason Tori and Alanis are doing this tour TOGETHER.Has anyone ever thought that they might have a mutual respect for one another? They don't have to be fans of eachothers music, but they can still appreciate their ambition and love of live performance.Don't you think?I mean,I am a mother of a 26 month old son and a 16 month old son.I don't particularly care for some of my mom's ways of parenting, but I do have great respect for her drive and love as a mother of me and my brothers. It is not an easy job to raise kids,as I am sure being a performer is quite difficult at times.Am I babbling? I don't know why everyone is so bent out of shape regarding this tour. Now if the co- headliner was Brittany Spears (sorry if any likes her) I would die.She is bubble gum pop.Alanis is ...dare I say the dreaded word...alternative,as I know people see Tori too.Alanis's new music just doesn't do anything for me...and her old stuff was ok as long as it wasn't on MTV. I don't know.I will probably stay for the entire concert as I am going with my husband and he thinks for $100 tickets we should stay the whole time.Oh well.I might have to invest in some earplugs >=} But I am not so annoyed...afterall it is a night when my husband and I have time to be together minus the kids, which sometimes we don't even get 3 times a month! Oh I just had a thought...Maybe Tori is first because she needs her beauty sleep. :) If you managed to get here...thanks for reading the whole thing! =) Many Smiles, Rebecca ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 08 Sep 1999 16:56:27 -0500 From: "John Gunderson" Subject: Denver 11 October Anyone going to the concert in Denver? ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Sep 1999 23:19:11 +0100 From: Ken Tough Subject: Re: Anyone in the UK received the CD5 of Bliss from CDNOW yet?
