Hello. I've never posted to this list before, but this subject intrigues me, so here goes. There are some Tori songs I don't like. I'm not particularly crazy abt Baker Baker. Or Happy Phantom. And She's Your Cocaine is one dislike I share w/ some of you. As for BFP, I didn't like it when I first heard it. In fact, I gave my copy to a used cd store in exchange for $4.00. But when I saw Tori for a second time last October, after the show I felt I should give BFP another try. So I bought a copy from the same used cd store for $7.00. Now every time I listen to it, I wonder how I ever disliked it. It's magical, like every Tori album. But LE is still my fav. "jackie's strength", well, it's not a song i care for in the base case. i guess that's where i started to meander. "suede" seems very fluid and difficult to grasp. that didn't help things. in retrospect, "juarez" sounds like a really nice song, but i was too unfocused at the time to realize it. fortuantely, that's when she reeled me back in with "tear" -- one of the few songs from _little earthquakes_ that i don't mind hearing anymore. while introducing the band, she was noodling on the piano and played the riff from "hungarian wedding song". was anyone close enough to the front to see what caused tori's outbreak during "crucify"? as others have noted, it sounded like she was scolding some security guards, but i'd like to know what inspired that little spat. i wonder if this will become a trend -- the mansfield show featured a spat as well (both with equally rique comments! wheee!). finally, i did record the show. it came out alright -- the pa sound wasn't too bad for being an outdoor venue -- but there is a slight bit of wind noise at times and i didn't have a windsock for my mic (doh!). still, it's very listenable as audience recordings go. the recording was done on minidisc and i can do digital md => md as well as analog md => cassette. i'm going to try and transfer this to cd when i get a chance at work, but that may not happen for a bit. still, if you're interested in any format, drop me a line and we can work something out. i'm mostly interested in other 5.5 weeks shows, but will trade for anything (even non-tori! gasp!) and will also do blanks and postage trades as well. woj ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 03 Sep 1999 03:29:59 EDT From: "Armani Boy" Subject: new tori video on 120 Minutes hey there! haven't seen this postedo i thought i would let you all know. on last sunday's "120 Minutes" on MTV, during the 2nd half MTV aired a live version of "God" from the 'live and unrehearsed' web-cast. by accident i have this video on tape!!! did anyone else happen to see this or does anyone else know about this???? i *KNOW* i cannot have been the only tori-phile to have seen this! christiaan ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 03 Sep 1999 19:50:40 -0400 From: Becky Wall Subject: Re: 1000 Oceans Single I kow I'm cross posting lists and I'm sorry, I just wanted to say that the Baker Baker live on the 1000 Ocean single is from the Penn State show on November 21, 1998. Do they become worthless in a couple of years?. This is very worrying, especially since Tori's promo items appear to be on CD-R much more commonly these days (as do many other artists), does anyone know why the silver discs are being discarded in favour for CD-R's when CD-R's have (are given) such a bad reputation? >> yes, I am kinda upset about that too ... but I have a question ... do you play your promo stuff often? because I don't and therefore it's not really a problem for me ... the time that they last is in play time ... so two years of normal/frequent play and wear. If you really want to preserve them then make better quality CD-R copies of them (I am planning on doing this for one of my promo things). I suspect that the reason they make them on these low-quality cd-r's is that promos are not really expected to be used or played normally ... like the one that I have which is from the album network was only supposed to be played once and the ones sent to radio stations are to be played for a few weeks or so until the album comes out ... they are not meant to last forever and ultimately it is cheaper this way. kisses, joanne ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 03 Sep 1999 16:31:49 GMT From: "Ears with Feet" Subject: HOW RUDE CAN PEOPLE GET!!!!!! If you were not watching the show, here is what happened. When Tori was singing Bliss (I think it was like 1 - 3 minutes into the song) a camera was shooting Tori from the left side. The crowd most certainly had faith, and it was by far the most intimate open air performance I've seen, for the simple fact that the crowd and Tori interacted every chance they could. It was spectacular. And when Charlie Gibson mistakenly announced Crucify was from to venus and back, the crowd promptly corrected him. ;) Something I've noticed -- Elizabeth Vargas was nearly gushing. For those who don't remember, she was who did the 20/20 program on RAINN and Tori (hi, Shannon). I think Miz Vargas is an unabashed fan. She played Crucify, Bliss and a cut-off Cornflake Girl, and all were brilliant, and I have come to love Bliss now that I've heard it again...plus, I got my boot of the Charlotte show yesterday (thanks so much, Jay!) and had a chance to really *listen* to the new stuff, and while I think I still adore Juarez most of all, Bliss is an amazing song. I am so psyched for this album! And one last thing: during the interludes, they played Tori's song, and I could swear they were all live.
