It takes up one 110mn tape and all of one side of another one. If you only want Tori's set, its only one tape. But I am only looking for `99 shows ONLY now. Hey, did anyone catch Tori's spot on WFNX today??? I was so upset that I just caught the last few minutes of it. I would be happy to trade the entire Mansfield show for that. BRILLIANT ! =) I dunno why I didn't think of this myself-- since the 'no camping out' rule now in effect already reminded me of the wristband system (which was implemented in some cities due to insurance reasons about people camping out, rushing the ticket booth, getting hurt etc.) ! (To be truthful, I was very worried about people camping out in such bad neighborhoods ! But it wasn't for me to tell them not to) But the brilliant Mr. Ken Tough came up with this brilliant idea !: " Seems to me the best system would be a lottery.  At some point before the M&G you give your seat number which goes in a drum. [A laptop could be very useful here... :] 40 or so are picked out to go inside the venue (or something) for a visit.   It would take a couple of hours of time from someone on the tour to supervise though, so I can't really see it coming off, though. " I can't think of anything more fair... can anyone else ? This would stop what seems to be the biggest cog in the wheel and what seems to be most EWF's major complaint: the hardy EWF who've met Tori sometimes literally a hundred times and still feel they must get there first, or even cheat, to still be first row at the meet n greets ! It would also make the no camping out rule make more sense... without SOME kind of system in place, rushing the barricade and pushing and shoving still would not be omitted !! I feel Ken is closer to a common sense solution here. Could someone please pass on his idea to Tori and Co. ?? Oh-- I just noticed the bit about someone from Tori's tour taking a couple of hours to supervise this... yeh maybe but, IMHO better that, or even hiring someone just for this (I'm sure she already has personal assistants tho ?) than someone getting hurt by rushing the barricades ? I mean, as long as it's gonna happen... it may as well go as well as possible right ? It isn't the old days where it was just organic and always went fine... :o( I hope *something* works ! I won't be trying, but am hoping it works out for those who haven't yet met Tori. But again folks... as Steve Sanchez told H.G.... the meets ARE a privilege. IMHO, Tori does them cos she wants to give back to us ! So can everyone ask themselves before they go to a meet and greet, WHAT KIND OF ENERGY do you want to give to Tori while you're there ? Cos the pushing and shoving thing doesn't seem like good energy to me... just IMHO ! Have some of the EWF maybe lost track of what the meets are really for ? Or not tried to see it from Tori's side ? Just playing devil's advocate. I had to break my mini promise about not posting on this topic cos Ken's idea was just too good. Sorry... hope ya scrolled if u're sick of me ;oP K. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 01 Sep 1999 14:06:57 GMT From: "Wake UpNeo" Subject: Friends of Tori-thy ? That cd probably won't play in many other systems as well ... like a car for example ... and thats just not acceptable for the price. I had first heard "Silent All These Years", "Crucify", and the Tori version of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" back in 1992. "Silent..." I thought was beautiful, "Crucify" did not connect, and I thought the SLTS version was, um, nice, or at least perhaps an improvement on the original... 2. I did not get to listen to any of her albums, however, until 1995, when I a friend of mine lent me her Little Earthquakes...but it did not connect, the lyrics were too nonsensical for me at the time...and instead I developed a liking for Enya and Sarah McLachlan... 3. For some reason, the local adult contemporary radio station started playing "Crucify" (the mix version on the EP) a lot in late 1997/early 1998, and for a number of reasons I will not get into, I could relate to the song. However, the release of the song "Spark" in 1998 coincided with my readings about Luciferianism, and it struck me that the song captures the Luciferian spirit very well. So this gets me interested in Tori's theology. I bought FTCH, and "Spark" is the only song that I find really useful there; SYC is demonically frenzied, an evil song, as is "Spark", but "Spark" is useful in capturing a particular spirit that goes with Luciferianism, in my opinion... 4. In the past few months, I joined the 1ForToriAmos@onelist.com...and in the past month joined precious-things@smoe.org 5. Now, I said all that to establish that I am a rather new, and casual, fan of Tori's. 6. Last week I got to listen to Little Earthquakes and Boys for Pele, and I wanted to share my comments/opinions/insights/etc. 7. She stretches out her words over several notes, altering its pronunciation in the process. An example of this is the word "chain" in the Little Earthquakes version of "Crucify". Does anyone think that Alanis picked up this habit from Tori? 8. The melodies on the Little Earthquakes would make great movie music. I hope someday someone does a compilation of instrumental versions of Tori's songs... Does anyone think that some of Alanis' melodies would make good movie music? 9. The opening of "Precious Things" sounds like incidental music from the 1985 film Real Genius. "Precious Things" belongs in a really dramatic scene in some film... 10. The opening part of "China" sounds like Alanis' "Mary Jane". Does anyone think Alanis has borrowed from Tori? 11. "Leather" reminds me of a song I've heard before. In fact, several of Tori's Little Earthquakes melodies remind me of some song I've heard before... 12. I like the harpsicord of "Blood Roses", and the harpsicord/Bosendorfer on the album in general, but again, I would prefer the songs as instrumental pieces. Tori's voice and lyrics infuses "Blood Roses" with an ominous spirit... 13. Does anyone think "Mr. Zebra" is reminiscient (sp?) of "Happy Phantom" and "Leather"? 14. On the whole, I don't like Boys for Pele 15. The insert photo on BFP in which you can the people through the reflection of the gas or water or whatever it was, that was very clever...I am not too keen on that one with the pig by her breast... 16. Was the back cover of Little Earthquakes supposed to be a phallic symbol? 17. What was the significance of the snakes/pig on the the BFP cover? 18. What does Tori's father feel about her music? This is essentially the question I posted to Tori through MTV: "You say that you are angry at Christianity for destroying the sacred images of male and female embodied in the pagan gods, but shouldn't you be more angry at the Jews, since they were the ones who originally went to destroy the pagan gods? Also, do you consider yourself a Luciferian or just a pagan?" It's why I want to see the transcript, because I want to see whether it got to Tori and she answered it, or whether it was censored by MTV... My favorite Tori songs so far: 1. Silent all These Years 2. Crucify 3. Spark 4. Happy Phantom 5. Leather 6. Winter 7. Precious Things Does anyone know what Tori means by "fascist panties"? I hope to get to hear "Under the Pink" soon. So, to the moderator, if you decide to nix this, that's cool :) I'm in grade 11 at Trafalgar, which is an all-girls school in Montreal. Every year since I've been in grade 7, we've done a run in support of the Montreal Breast Diagnostic Centre at the general hospital. It started out with just our school and grew - I think there are six or seven all-girls' schools from around Montreal involved this year. Together, we raised almost seventy thousand dollars last year, and we're going for eighty thousand this year. The centre provides 'one-stop shopping' to women - i.e. if you find a lump in your breast, the doctors will diagnose you the same day - so you don't have to worry for weeks. They offer surgery, radiology, ultrasound, pathology, oncology and radiotherapy in whatever combinations are needed. They also educate patients and act as a teaching centre for medical students and residents. They're involved in research into breast cancer and developed the world's first stereotactic excisional biopsy machine - there are now over 300 of these in North America. They saw over 10,000 patients last year and found 307 breast cancers of which almost a third weren't palpable. The point of all this is that I'm collecting pledges for the run right now. The pledges are prepaid ($5, $15, $20, whatever) so it's not a per-metre run sort of thing. Most of the fundraising that EWFs do involves RAINN. I wish I could be involved in a project for them, but I think this is another really good cause that concerns women everywhere. To quote from the the CD-Recordable FAQ ( http://www.fadden.com/cdrfaq ): Subject: [7-5] How long do CD-Rs last? The manufacturers claim 75 years (cyanine dye, used in "green" discs), 100 years (phthalocyanine dye, used in "gold" discs), or even 200 years ("advanced" phthalocyanine dye, used in "platinum" discs) once the disc has been written. The shelf life of an unrecorded disc has been estimated at between 5 and 10 years. There is no standard agreed-upon way to test discs for lifetime viability. Accelerated aging tests have been done, but they may not provide a meaningful analogue to real-world aging. Exposing the disc to excessive heat, humidity, or to direct sunlight will greatly reduce the lifetime. In general, CD-Rs are far less tolerant of environmental conditions than pressed CDs, and should be treated with greater care. The easiest way to make a CD-R unusable is to scratch the top surface. Find a CD-R you don't want anymore, and try to scratch the top (label side) with your fingernail, a ballpoint pen, a paper clip, and anything else you have handy. The results may surprise you. Keep them in a cool, dark, dry place, and they will probably live longer than you do (emphasis on "probably"). Some newsgroup reports have complained of discs becoming unreadable in as little as three years, but without knowing how the discs were handled and stored such anecdotes are useless. Try to keep a little perspective on the situation: a disc that degrades very little over 100 years is useless if it can't be read in your CD-ROM drive today.
