Fischer" Subject: official Tori sites I have to say that I'm really disappointed by the way the tori.com and alanisandtori.com sites are now. You would think that record companies could afford to hire some people to work on these sites on a daily basis of some kind, but instead they end up looking pathetic compared to the sites done by fans. These companies have access to Tori and her shows that fans just can't get and yet they never take full advantage of that. The reason I'm upset by this is a list of the following things I noticed today: - -the tori.com site just announced the live disc track list today, even though everyone knew about it last week! - -the track listing for the new album at tori.com has 2 different versions, one with Josephine as last and one with 1,000 oceans last - -the tori.com site lists one new song as "Riot Poof" on one page and then as "Riot Proof" on another. - -I was so excited to see that the Plugged Archive includes photos from the Sneak Preview tour, songs from a number of different shows on that tour, and clips of EWF interviewed outside the shows. However, I couldn't get any of the audio or video clips to work?! I got a message saying the links were out of date - -as for alanisandtori.com, the tour journal is pathetic. The guy writes about 5 lines about each stop and he has almost nothing to say about Tori or Alanis or the shows they played; just weather and his sleep deprivation - - the tour scrapbook on alanisandtori.com has 4 photos of Tori at one of the M&G. They've had how many shows to take pictures at?? The Plugged tour photo archive puts this scrapbook to shame. Where are the performance photos?! - - the scrapbook that was listed on Tori's page at alanisandtori.com has been removed, so the photos of her and the guys in the studio are no longer With all the money Alanis and Tori bring in I just think a better job could be done (because fans who aren't even paid to do it can do better jobs). The way the Sneak Preview tour was covered by tori.com last year was fantastic. We got great photos, great songs from the shows, etc. Why can't they do it for this tour? What will it take for them to get serious about these websites instead of just trying to get all our email addresses so they can send us junk mail? They seem to have no problem coming up with ways to do that. VIP access my ass. There is one reason there are meet and greets, and only ONE. Tori wants them. Her security and management teams wanted them stopped last year when the m&g's were getting crazy, but Tori insisted on them continuing. Scare her too badly, and she'll say, "F*ck this, it ain't worth my life" and that will be it. She does them because she has had such good experiences meeting her fans. She has said a couple of times in public that once you've talked a few times with her, it's time to move on. There is only so much that can be said in the m&g atmosphere, and she doesn't want to talk to the same folks time after time. Please keep in mind that there are also freakazoids who would like to do harm to the red-haired lady, and security has a hard enough time keeping an eye out for someone with a knife or gun without having to deal with unruly toriphiles to boot. We will probably get the Meet&Greet discussion during every tour now - as long as Tori still does them. Because there is no way that the Meet&Greet experience will be completely 'fair' to everybody anymore. Considering that nobody can expect Tori to spend more than 15 minutes between arriving at the venue, doing the soundcheck, having some food, getting prepared for the show, doing interviews, etc., and that she might spend 30 seconds with everybody she is talking to the result is that at each show about 30 people are able to talk to her for parts of a minute. She might be able to do a few more signatures - but that is it. With maybe 100 people showing up before Tori arrives, it is just not possible that everybody gets some time with her. And that is independent of the question whether somebody had already met Tori on another day. The numbering system tries, although not being perfect, to introduce some sort of fairness and to avoid chaos and aggression. I personally agree to the suggestion that despite having a number, people should not leave the meet&greet area to return later and reclaim their number, because that is not transparent to the others who are waiting. But it should be possible that somebody returns to their spot in the 'virtual' line after briefly visiting a restroom or getting something to drink. Christiaan, you started your recent posting with: > I TOTALLY AGREE!!!! the number people are more like NAZIS. I do not know how old you are or how many history lessons you took at school. But I do hope that after thinking about this again you will not continue to make this comparison. Those people killed millions of others that belonged to a group of people that they intended to suppress. Their cruelty and disrespect for other human beings just cannot be expressed with words. With their system they caused a world-wide war in which many millions lost their lives. The numbering system is in essence about fairness - although certainly not perfect. If you feel cheated, I suggest you talk to them. You will probably find out that most of them are quite nice. Wurmy, you wrote: > these three girls (one of which is in the new > bliss video and if i ever see her again i swear > i will kill her - if you see her at the show > she has long dark hair that is died three > different colors of brown and blond). Alright, you are probably not serious here. But let me mention this: - - I believe that Tori likes some of these frequently 'occuring' Ears With Feet a lot. I know that there have been shows where she explicitly wanted to see some of them right in front of the stage. - - Tori uses the Ears With Feet that she remembers from other shows for communication with her fans. After the show in Philadelphia last year, she asked one of them to inform the 'Internet' as soon as possible that she had to postpone the show in Poughkeepsie due to her flu. And think about how the Dent got the message that there will be no post-show meet&greets. - - You are probably talking about somebody different, but I happen to know somebody who is also to be seen in the 'Bliss' video. She is one of the most passionate and emotional personalities that I have met and I believe that Tori and other members of the 'crew' really like her. Please let your opinions of others not be guided by jealousy. Here is what I consider important: Never go to a show expecting that you will have a chance to actually talk to Tori. If you then happen to be able to do it, enjoy the moment as much as you can. Think about the fact that in this moment when you thank Tori for what she and her music means to you you are representing many many others who do not even have a chance to see a show at all. Think that this moment is as much for Tori as it is for you - because by thanking her and trying to make her proud of what she does for us you can try to give her back a little bit of the energy that she gives to you in her songs and in her performances. What you should expect is to meet many nice people who have something in common with you - passion for Tori's music. Talk to them, make friends, have a good time, turn the waiting for Tori into a party. In the end, it might not even matter so much who actually is able to exchange a few words with Tori. Whoever gets to meet and talk to Tori should feel a little bit of responsibility to represent those who will never be able to do so. Everybody enjoy your shows, Eric (with a 'c') ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Aug 1999 13:09:26 EDT From: Skylar2@aol.com Subject: Re: Re: Questions about Meet and Greets >I was thinking about getting there at about 6 AM? is this good? Because, I think others may be having the same thoughts of staying home altogether to avoid a possible bad meet and greet, after reading some of the bad stories that have happened. I'd hate to see that happen. I also wanted to add, for the list, just my own opinion about people who leave for hours at a time then return. Nope nope nope. Not fair. I didn't think of that when I wrote my last letter. I still believe the number system is good, BUT not when people leave to go sleep in a comfy hotel room, or, get there at ten pm the previous night, get a number, sleep til the next day, go shopping, then come back at half an hour before the meet and greet. Nope. I don't think that's fair. Other than leaving for a food run (and hopefully taking money to bring back food for others !) or other than people maybe leaving in shifts to go eat (I mean you gotta eat right ? If you are there for ten hours or more ?) (and it should be done with common sense-- bring food back or, eat and return but no more than an hour), everyone should remain there. When I lined up to see Tori at a talk show, there were people we had not even seen in line who came at the last minute. That meant we were bumped back by several people (we all still got in but, several people lost their floor seats). They'd been napping and partying and whatever-- doing their hair and makeup to look nice. While everyone else had sat on the hard sidewalk in the sun all day. Some had slept out overnight. No one had seen these people there at all. But, one person had saved places for like four of the latecomers at a time. Not cool. We didn't say anything, but it was unfair. So I do agree with that one point-- people, except for food or bathroom trips, should stay at the venue IMHO, it's only fair to everyone else. Or lose their number. Other than that I still think the numbers can work. OK I've said plenty now... been blabbin' like a Mother Hen. It's cos I'm worried about people having a bad experience where there could/should be a good one. Gonna shut up. Here's the rest of my, (first), letter (person I sent it to will remain anonymous !!). If you've heard enuf about the meet n greets already feel free to scroll. And this is gonna be *my* last letter on the subject I promise. ************* Don't stay home cos of what I or anyone else has said or what their own perceptions are. After all, you could always leave once you got there if it seemed too crazy, too negative or too much of an endurance test. But I do think they've gotten, well, more *intense*. I observed one where the whole crowd was just surging forward. I was standing across the street-- hadn't gotten out of the general admission seating line, to line up for the meet and greet; didn't wanna lose my seat, couldn't find out where the barricades would be, plus, the person I was there with, who'd gotten me into the show, (it was a club show and I didn't have a voucher) didn't want to go to the meet and greet or be left standing alone. So I went over just to peek at things... yikes. (By then other people had come back from eating and saved our places in line so she said okay). And the one where I was first row ? I thought I might get seriously injured. People were just shoving me hard against the barricade, which hit me in the stomach over and over. The jerky security men were laughing at us. One of them told the crowd to hit each other and so on. I couldn't believe it. I complained the next day to his boss but with no result other than a shrug. (On the other hand, Tori's own guards Joel and Steve are excellent at their jobs and also nice). Anyway... there have also been really good meets where all the EWF pull together, and help ones who haven't met her yet be in front, and so on. And make good friends while waiting there. SO, don't miss it because of what *might* happen... just know that it might be a bit like camping out and tempers might flare. The thing I most want to prevent is the pushing because it's so dangerous. Or is there another area, which we should wait..like by the cargo areas or whatever else everbody keeps talking about? s. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Aug 1999 21:09:41 +0100 From: "squidgy" Subject: Re: Questions about Meet and Greets No I meant employ a few specifically to do that job, I'm sure they could afford it. - ---------- >From: Skylar2@aol.com >To: ssvidar@super.net.uk, owner-precious-things@smoe.org, precious-things@smoe.org >Subject: Re: Re: Questions about Meet and Greets >Date: Thu, Aug 26, 1999, 18:43 > > > In a message dated 08.25.99 10.34.55 pm, ssvidar@super.net.uk wrote: > > << Why aren't they run by officials employed by Tori's employer type > people, who already know Tori, and have no desire to meet and greet her in > this fashion!, but are paid to keep this M&G civilised,>> > > because they have alot of other things to do, like running a huge huge huge > concert. > > hmmm. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Aug 1999 08:45:16 -0400 From: AdamCL Subject: Re: The Tampa show & sound >> As for why you heard Alanis more clearly .. she enunciates much more >> clearly than Tori. True, but I still should be able to hear her mis-enunciation more clearly. The bass and sound was too muffled/overpowering during her set, while Alanis was crisp and basically a great sound mix. I can't argue with a bad venue or whatever but when the difference is so dramatic, something isn't right. It's correct that you could never see Alanis' face when she played the harmonica, and lip synching would explain the great clear sound of her voice in the arena. She was more clear in her voice than almost any artist I've heard at the Ice Palace. Only Fleetwood Mac would rival the sound. I have to 2 tickets to Sunday's show in Saratoga Springs, NY. The friend I am planning on going with MIGHT be unable to go. I won't know for sure until Late Friday/early Saturday. IF AND ONLY IF she cannot go I will have an extra ticket. But, obviously, you must live in the Boston area and be willing to travel the 5 hours with my loveliness accompanying you. In exchange for the ticket all I ask is that someone be willing to drive. We could always take my car, but that has some serious potential for being fatal. But, we''ll see. Please remember, this is a "just in case" type of thing. I don't want to get anyone's hopes up too high. By the way, you must be fun, silly, adventurous and realize that if you bitch at all during the ride you may be violently thrown from the car. YEAH! Thanks!! And rambling! I shall start this review off with obligatory shout-outs. Ahem: Jessica and her ex^Òs mom (whose name I forgot, sorry!); Kelley and her husband John (?); Erin and PJ Harvey Shirt Guy (who declared that the best Divas show ever would be Tori, PJ, Bjork, and Sinead O^ÒConnor, and that if Tori would have toured with PJ, this tour would have been the best EVER) ^Ö thanks for offering to take a picture of us with Tori at the Meet and Greet, though we didn^Òt need it^Åthat was way cool; thanks to Blue Lipstick Girl Maria for being a friendly EWF; thanks to The Girl with the Purple Lighter; major hugs out to Richard Handal, whose emails do not do him justice ^Ö he^Òs a sweet and funny, funny man, and a treasure^Åsay hi to him at a show if you see him!; and shout-out to the girl from last year^Òs Columbia show, who actually remembered Deborah and the faery sculpture she made for Tori ^Ö I think you made at least part of Deborah^Òs day. And a shout-out to the guy I met while spraying people with mp3.com tattoos ^Ö not the guy who stuck the sticker on my ass. ;) And hugs all around to Amanda, Drew and Beth, the first two responsible for here.inmyhead.net and those nifty Jackie^Òs Strength fundraiser shirts ^Ö if you wore one of their shirts to the show, be assured they saw you! That was the first time I had an opportunity to see the shirts, and I have to say they came out beautifully. I know they spent an astronomical amount of time on the project, as well as a bit of their own money, so I just wanted to publicly applaud them for their hefty donation to RAINN (they made no profit!). I also want to take the time to say how disgusted I am with anyone who put said shirt up for auction on eBay, especially if you made a profit. Is nothing in Tori^Òs spirit anymore? Sometimes I feel like people would auction off their hand if it said Tori on it. Hugs also to Mirm and Jay, who we ^Ómet^Ô at Columbia last year ^Ö Jay^Òs the guy who gave me the random bootleg. They are two of the warmest, funniest people ^Ö true EWF. And Jay? I tried not to make a lot of noise, I really did, but The Waitress just does this thing to me, and I find myself screaming^Åsigh. I tried. ;) And finally, hugs to Chris and Stephanie, who we met at the show. You guys rock! Please keep in touch! Okay, the show. It was exhilirating, even though I felt like the entire thing was a bit^Årushed? I don^Òt know if that^Òs the right word. And the Meet and Greet beforehand, which Deborah and I hadn^Òt planned on going to, was really organized and docile. But, here^Òs the big ^Ñole spiel^Å Deborah and I left Raleigh between 11 and 12, after getting an unintentional early start. We grabbed some Bruegger^Òs (their cinnamon and sugar bagels are awesome) and hit the road to Charlotte. It^Òs about a three hour drive, and we sustained ourselves with Dr. Pepper, Camels, and, of course, Tori^Åand Catherine Wheel. We found the Blockbuster Pavilion immediately, and then grabbed some Mickey D^Òs before camping out in the parking lot. There were already several people lined up outside of the gate, but Deborah and I had already met Tori in Columbia, and since the experience at that M&G was so fantastic and ideal (everyone was terrific), we decided to let people who hadn^Òt had the opportunity to meet Tori have their fun without our sorry butts infringing. Besides, I kind of wanted to see people meeting her without getting all anxious and jumpy. So after we wolfed down nourishment, we went up and hung out with Jessica and her crew, who were in line. I think by the time we showed up, there were about 70 people there, but you never would have thought that, considering everyone was so chilled and laidback and, in general, very cool. It was very nice. Finally, Steve came and got everyone, and we waited outside of the barricades for about an hour or so. Deborah and I, and several other people, just hung out in the back. I can^Òt describe how great it was to just relax and watch other people when they met Tori. Tori did finally show up, and she was wearing blue, and as always, was beautiful. People were talking about the Meet and Greets before ^Ö about why they^Òve gotten so bad, and while I^Òve only been to three, it^Òs not hard to see what the problem is. The answer lies somewhere in the middle. Some people say it^Òs because of new fans being obnoxious, and while that is true in many cases, I^Òve noticed that a handful of people who consider themselves ^Ótrue fans^Ô are the ones who ultimately make the experience miserable for everyone. Raleigh at the Creek is a perfect example. We had the pleasure of being next to a girl who found it necessary to condescend to the newer fans every chance she could ^Ö I couldn^Òt believe it. There is this pervasive attitude that because someone doesn^Òt know every aspect of Tori^Òs very existence, they are not a true fan. That^Òs complete and utter bullshit. It^Òs about the music, and always has been. I think sometimes all of us have our heads up our asses, and forget this. I know, because I^Òm totally guilty of it sometimes. I have to consciously check myself when I^Òm talking to someone who may not be familiar with Tori. There is also an attitude that Tori is obligated to do these Meet and Greets, which is the most ludicrous thing I^Òve ever heard. It^Òs crazy for a person as famous as she is to put herself on level with her fans, show after show. But she does it, and everyone thinks she^Òs nuts. She is in no way obligated to meet with us ^Ö it^Òs her choice. I honestly believe that Tori gets as much out of the M&G^Òs as fans do, which is why she keeps them going despite logic and despite practicality and despite everyone telling her she should stop. It^Òs her gift to us, as fans, and to herself. Not enough people go into the thing with the right attitude. I also think the numbering system is bullshit ^Ö didn^Òt someone ask Tori about it last tour, and she basically rolled her eyes? My sentiments exactly. I think it^Òs sad the numbering has to be done, because you would think Tori fans, of all people, would be tactful enough to respect everyone else^Òs place in line when they arrived, or whatnot. Plus, there are always several of the same faces show after show in the front^Åcoincidence? Okay, now that I^Òve said that, all in all the M&G was very cool. It was over about 4:15, and the venue asked that we all leave, and come back at 5:30 (originally it was 5, or so I thought). Deborah and I drove to the University Plaza about a mile or two down the road and sat by the lake they had there. It had swans and geese, and I think we wanted to peace and quiet. I know I did, only because the day had seemed a bit unreal up to then. This tour happened so suddenly ^Ö I feel like I was just at Plugged, and the fact a new album is coming out hasn^Òt quite absorbed yet. The fact we were going to be seeing Tori that night was still unreal. We ended up driving back to the venue at 5 and being told to come back at 5:30, but luckily, we spotted Amanda in the movie theater parking lot nearby and hung with her until we could go in. Can I just say I adore the merchandise for this tour? Every single one of the shirts is gorgeous, and the Venus Envy necklace (thanks, Deborah! Eee!) is ten times cooler than the Raspberry Swirl necklaces from last tour. And I love the purple theme. I don^Òt know why purple seems to be the predominant color for this album, but I love it. And the program/tour books are absolutely gorgeous, featuring the most beautiful pictures I^Òve seen of Tori. My only gripe with it is that they spelled Neil Gaiman^Òs last name as ^ÓGamen.^Ô I^Òm amazed that managed to happen, considering. I^Òm sure he feels special. ;) Oh, and everything^Òs expensive, but what else is new? While we waited for the gates to open, Deborah and I hung with Amanda, Drew, and Beth. I spotted Richard, and went and talked to him for a few minutes, and we did see Mikewhy, but I didn^Òt venture over. I didn^Òt have anything to say, and I didn^Òt want to just stand around with my thumb up my ass. Before tons of people showed up, and the radio stations started playing their obnoxious promos, you could hear Tori at soundcheck, and the only song I heard was Northern Lad. After the other three went in, Deborah and I finally met up with Mirm and Jay, after worrying about whether they would be making it. We were all chatting, in no major hurry to rush inside, and then the most amazing thing happened. This guy walks up to us, waiting as whoever was talking finished their sentence, and interrupts by asking if the four of us would be interested in front row tickets. My initial impression was that he was a scalper trying to rip us off, but upon closer inspection, he was decked out entirely in mp3.com gear. He proceeds to explain to us that if we are willing to stand in front of the mp3.com tent and give people little temporary mp3.com tattoos, the tickets are ours. At first, I completely didn^Òt believe him, if only because Deborah and I bought our tickets two days before the show, because we weren^Òt positive we wanted to go, but changed our minds. Second, we had SHIT seats out on the lawn. There^Òs no way we could be this lucky, but sure enough, the guy gives us each a front row tickets to keep, and temp tattoos and spray bottles to spray people with. So if you were practically assaulted by four people with spray bottles while you were walking into the pavilion, that was us earning our keep. I actually had a lot of fun doing it, despite the fact we were shamelessly whoring ourselves. I^Òm not so apologetic to be honest. =) Most people were really cool and nice, and we met Chris and Stephanie! Actually, Chris was the first person we talked to upon arriving at the Pavilion before the M&G, and we also ran into them afterwards, briefly, but we sort of had to rush because Deborah needed to find a bank. Luckily, they walked by, and they are two of the sweetest people! We talked with them for a bit, in the midst of our spraying spree, and we also met this other couple, and the guy had no idea about Tori^Òs M&Gs, but it was obvious he was just NUTS about Tori, so we filled him in, and I gave him my email ^Ö he was a really nice guy. It started to rain about ten minutes before Tori went onstage, so we tossed in our gear, grabbed our tickets and ran for the Pavilion. We slid right into the front about a minute before Tori came waltzing onstage. She was wearing blue jeans and (I think, Deborah or Mirm?) a pink shirt underneath this gauzy, sheer pinkish-peach wrap. And I think she was wearing white boots. Being that close to the stage was just incredible. The four of us were standing right in front of Caton, and it was fantastic to watch that band work. Deborah said after the show that it^Òs so fun to watch a band that is obviously very tight, and it^Òs so true. We could see every eye exchange they made, and smiles, and see them mouthing the words to songs^Åit somehow made the entire experience more meaningful. I^Òll work through the songs as she played^Å GOD: Maybe not as powerful of an opener as Precious Things, but still one rocking, hell-raising good time. I haven^Òt heard the song live since the Pink tour, so it was an especially cool treat. Tori was all smiles ^Ö she just seemed to be glad to be in familiar territory. We were angled just right so we could see her face framed through the paino, so we caught every facial expression, and as Deborah put it, ^ÓYou could see the glitter in her eyeshadow.^Ô Caton^Òs fun to watch during this song. SUGAR: Ohmigod, this song will never lose its power live. She could put the heaviest rock band to shame with the live version of this song. She sings as if she^Òs possessed. And I still love the yellow lights. This was positively primal, and the bass/drums add so damn much to this song^Òs dynamics. You had to have been dead not to move to this song. JUAREZ: It^Òs hard to really absorb the new songs having never heard them before (nope, I hadn^Òt even heard Bliss!), but I think the reason I remember this one is because she said something about angels^ÅI think. Someone can correct me on that. This was a very cool song, possibly my favorite of the new material she played. CORNFLAKE GIRL: Before she went into Cornflake Girl, she actually sang James Taylor^Òs ^ÓCarolina On My Mind^Ô, which I thought was really funny and cool. She segued directly into Cornflake Girl, and of course the crowd went wild and mad dancing ensued. I still love the improvised ^ÓMan with the golden gun^Ô part. BLISS: This was actually my first opportunity to hear this song, and it was my least favorite of the new songs, I think. Like I said before, it^Òs hard to absorb the new material in the live setting, especially when there^Òs so much restless energy ^Ö I^Òll have to hear it when I buy the single before I make any sort of judgement. It sounded as if she was pronouncing ^ÓBliss^Ô as ^ÓBlees.^Ô [band leaves] SECRET TIME = = = = = = = = ANGIE: I about fell down on the floor when she began to play this. She introduced this by talking about how her father had wanted her to play ^ÓBringing In the Sheaves^Ô, but she promptly said, ^ÓFuck that.^Ô The crowd howled. I can only imagine what the Alanis fans were thinking. =) But this was just gorgeous, and such a surprise. Then, she followed it up with^Å ICICLE: Did anyone notice that Bliss, Angie^Òs intro, and Icicle were all sort of directed at her father? I wonder if that was intentional? And does anyone know if Rev. Amos was there last night? This song was very powerful and mildly sinister^Åintense. I loved watching Tori^Òs eyes during this song. [band comes back] GLORY OF THE 80S: I LOVE this song! I can^Òt wait to hear it on the album, and I agree with Chris when he said he think this one^Òs going to be fave on it. It^Òs sassy and one hundred percent Tori in experience and delivery. The band seemed to have tons of fun. I know I did. LITTLE EARTHQUAKES: Shiver-worthy. Just beautiful. One of my favorites all night. BLOOD ROSES: I KNOW I wasn^Òt the only one who didn^Òt know what the hell this song was at first. I was like, ^ÓOoh, another new song^Ô and then I heard the word ^Óchicken^Ô and looked at Deborah, and asked her if it was ^ÓBlood Roses^Ô, but I think she thought I was telling her, because she nodded and said ^ÓI know.^Ô Very different from the album version ^Ö I mean, it^Òs an entire stratosphere away. It^Òs cool, but I^Òm hooked on that chiming harpsichord with that song. As a separate song, it was definitely cool, though. THE WAITRESS: Absolutely incredible. Someone said that they thought the song had lost some of its power since the last tour, but I MUST disagree. Oh my GOD, it was intense last night, especially near the end. Tori just kept going and going^Åmy lower back was in agony from standing and getting chills. The band seems to find the ^ÓHang Ten^Ô hand thing that people do at the front very funny. Caton had this expression on his face like, ^ÓUm, yeah, folks, whatever floats your boat^Å^Ô and Jon was laughing. I don^Òt quite get it myself, but that^Òs okay, because people were having fun, so. =) Caton^Òs guitar makes this song ^Ö it^Òs incredibly eerie. ENCORE = = = = = PRECIOUS THINGS: While I really wanted to hear this again, I didn^Òt want to hear it at the end of the show. When I leave a Tori show, I need a song to slowly let me set my feet back down onto earth. This just made me want to go out and maim and kill and smash things ^Ö my energy level was through the roof. I wish they had had time for just one more song, but it was obvious they were in a sort of hurry to get off-stage. I^Òm surprised they don^Òt have to bolt down that damn Bosy. Overall, a really great show. I had such a blast, and those first row tickets were the best thing that could have happened to us. The show seemed far more intimate than we had expected, having lawn seats. Deborah said she actually looked back behind us at one point, and she said there were just acres and acres of people. It^Òs hard to notice that when you^Òre crammed down front like that ^Ö I can definitely see why people fight to get tickets close to the stage, besides for obvious reasons. It^Òs an entirely different experience. We didn^Òt stay for Alanis, and met with Amanda, Drew, Beth, Chris and Stephanie at Shoney^Òs for their dinner bar and some caffeine. We had a three hour drive ahead of us, so we needed that buzz. Plus, it was POURING when we left, and 85 is incredibly dark. You can^Òt see anything for shit. But the entire day was a blast, overall. I just hope it doesn^Òt become habit for Tori to tour big venues, because I would really miss it if that was the case. Plus, something I noticed during this show which kind of gave me a twinge^Åwell, I don^Òt know quite how to describe it, but Tori seems as if she^Òs not completely ^Ófeeling^Ô a lot of the songs. But that could just be the pace of this tour, especially since Charlotte (like Raleigh) has a sound ordinance which requires outdoor shows to be over by eleven. Hell ^Ö if they^Òd started the concert at 5 o^Òclock, and let Tori play for 4 hours, I would have been in heaven. =) Will there be a bigger, longer and uncut tour, sans Alanis, in support of the new album?? Let us pray so. A Tori tour would be ideal in bringing in the new millenium.
