This means that you can either stand on the floor or you can pick a seat. The earlier you get in the better seats you can get. I think the numbers on the tickets are merely for the purpose of regulating how many tickets are sold. There is no assigned seating if the ticket has GA on it. Hopes this clears things up for people. Can't make time to >talk when they are stupid pet tricks and top ten lists >and throwing TV's out windows to do... um, it's probably droll of me to say so, but chatting with letterman is not the reason why musical guests appear on his show. they're there to play a song to promote whatever album they've recently released. it's not a case of treatly musical guests badly -- it's just the way these late night variety shows work. (i wonder if the rene russo fans complain that letterman didn't give her a chance to sing a song.) just to be contrary, i thought tori's letterman appearance was quite nice. did no one else notice that she didn't have to slice "bliss" up to make it fit within the time allotment she was given? that is not the norm and it was a treat to hear the full song on network television. i was also pretty impressed by the sound: the song is very bass heavy and you usually lose the high and low end on television broadcasts. yet, the opening bars of "bliss" boomed wonderously in the speakers when i got around to plugging the vcr into the stereo system. heck, it even sounded good on the non-stereo tv speaker. finally, as far as how letterman treated tori specifically, i get a totally different vibe than the rest of you. when tori is on his show is one of the few times where he appears to let his cynical approach slide some. he seems interested in her music (even though he still pronounces her surname incorrectly). maybe not to the extent that he's interested in lyle lovett's music (not having seen that appearance, i'll take daisy's word on that), but he appears interested. he seemed more put off by her non-committal answer about how she was doing than i would have expected if some other guest responded like she did. well, enough defending letterman for now. it's not something i normally do. ;) by the way, i'll be putting a mp3 of the letterman appearance up on the web shortly. i'll post the url soon as i get it uploaded. woj ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Aug 1999 00:12:29 -0700 From: Aaron Subject: GA Seat Numbers Hello, TM assigns seat numbers to give reference to how many people have purchased tickets and so they do not oversell the venue and surpass max occupancy. As some of you may remember from the PJ shows a few years ago, max occupancy is subject to change on the whims of the Fire Marshall. Anyways, there will be no corresponding seats to match your ticket numbers, since there will be no seats on the floor (last years tickets were exactly the same, mine says Section: GA1 Seat:168). What a coincidence, huh? I don't think it's coincidence at all. You know me -- i was so excited to hear Tori would be moving there back before Choirgirl was recorded, because that area is so alive with Arthur's mystery. I'm sure it's why Tori moved there -- after all, her own publishing rights are listed under "Sword & Stone." I noticed that Campbell show was on the other night, because I was looking at the Discovery Channel for the times when they'd be covering the eclipse (partly in Cornwall). I considered taping the Campbell instead, but I really wanted to be able to see footage of the eclipse, since I couldn't be there myself. I think all this stuff -- Cornwall, Arthur -- is also tied up in Tolkein and Led Zeppelin -- for Tori. I posted about Zeppelin's love for Tolkein and their move to the English countryside to record III when I heard about Tori's move to Cornwall, but I never imagined that Choirgirl would make such blatant reference to his works (the map in Choirgirl is very similar to his map of Middle Earth; I believe there's a site out there with a ton more info on this). Already I'm feeling more England refs on the new material -- the line "The wind is on the field" from "1,000 Oceans" reminds me of the "wild and windy moors" from Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights" and Cornwall is home to acres and acres of moorland, including Bodmin Moor -- and Dartmoor, where Tori filmed the "Spark" video, is in neighboring Dorset. I seem to have kind of wandered away from the point... oh well. :) Thanks to all who have shown interest in the Datura info -- I've had a great response to it. I always watch the tele with captions (cause there is massive yelling in my household and I pretend I am Deaf sometimes) and they transcribed the song all weirdy. Wooo, way over my head. I didn't like the pink pearl thing and Tori's hair too much, very 80's (YKTR?), but she was looking awesome herself. Yeah, so who's going to Tori in Chicago? Ooo ooo, me!
