I think that Tori was trying to say that Marianne, although she got into trouble, always seemed to contain it in some way.......and not make it worse by jumping into the fire. I think she is saying I cant fly but that >doesnt mean i'm a loser either..what do you think? My personal interpretation follows (it is no better than that of the next person) In the frying pan was (maybe still is) used to describe someone who gets into hot water or a precarious position. Helicopter usually refers to someone who hovers over someone else. Being a helicopter can mean that you are always around watching over someone to help them out (maybe too much). Not sure about Tuna rubber but it rhymes with little blubber and sets up a certain mood of isolation for me. Personally, I think that some of the lyrics are used just for their ability to convey sound and invoke a feeling rather than be taken literally. Try listening to the song as syllables or smaller units of sound and not think of them as words and you may discover a different form of communication altogether. Some of the other videos, I love all of them - don't get me wrong - seem, on the surface, to have not much at all to do with the song. Of course, with anything Tori does the meaning is somewhere in there, buried under nice gooey maple syrup it's just that sometimes I feel like not enough people are willing to dig ... especially those who casually see a Tori video. I love the humor and sarcasm in God with the crazy snake christians and whatnot and I just love how it looks and how Tori looks in it. I only recently came to this conclusion though (after watching the entire video collection 1,000 times) I used to think that I liked Caught a Lite Sneeze or the winter/saty videos the best. But after seeing them all together like that - I just think that the God video is the most well-made of them all. Spark is also awesome ... and I loooooove that dress in Raspberry Swirl :) Ok ... now I have one quick question - Does anyone else think that dancing sequence in Pretty Good Year is hilarious??????? I couldn't believe that when I saw it, I was in tears laughing. First of all, after some doubt, the August 29 show at Saratoga Springs, NY is finally official! Local radio in the Saratoga Springs/Albany, NY area and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center web site (http://www.spac.org/events3.shtml) have now announced that the the 5 1/2 Weeks Tour is indeed coming to Saratoga Springs, NY on August 29! However, they are announcing the show in a rather creative manner. Because Alanis is scheduled for Woodstock 99 in July, she is not technically suppose to perform in that area again for a certain period of time because of exclusive contracts preventing all Woodstock artists from performing anywhere near Rome this summer. They must have partially gotten past that limitation but they still are not mentioning Alanis by name. They list the show as Tori "with special co-headliner to be announced." But that headliner is most definitely Alanis (shh, don't tell anybody!) Tickets are going on sale at Ticketmaster and all normal ticket outlets on Saturday, July 10, 1999. There is no indication at this time that there will be an online pre-sale, but if this changes I will let you know. So Saratoga Springs, NY is IN and Hartford, CT (which was rumored as a replacement for Saratoga) is OUT. There are tickets for 3 cities definitely going on sale to the General Public this Saturday, June 26 at 10:00AM local time. They are: Nashville, TN Boston, MA Indianapolis, IN alanisandtori.mp3.com also says the following cities have tickets going on sale to the general public on Saturday, June 26. However, Ticketmaster does not agree on one date and says nothing about the other. Therefore I am not sure about these: Columbus, OH (Ticketmaster says July 17!) Irvine/LA CA (Ticketmaster does not indicate yet that these are going on sale Saturday) The latest tour info is always at: http://members.aye.net/~mikewhy/tourinfo.html Good luck! We all know that Tori and her management are aware of the fact that we exist. Has anyone ever attempted to compile a list of questions from precious-things subscribers to send to Tori through her management? We could each submit a question we would like to ask, compile a list, choose ten questions from that list by voting, and send them on their way. Tori could respond to the questions, and her answers could be posted on the list. It would be like an online chat session, only a little more organized, and everyone could participate. I know it sounds very complicated, and it would take a bit of work, but I think it would be a good way to try to get answers to some of our questions. Any thoughts? I always thought that was a reference to her early death. She was the "first" to move onto another level of spirituality. Sometimes I have even thouht it might be a reference to the fact that maybe she was the first to get trapped into the ideas of the world and she just couldn't be the person that she thougth she should. To begin with just a second ago my mom came and told me something I thought was interesting. She said she read somewhere that a Barry Manalow fan club had a teddy bear that they took to all his concerts. He had a little note book attached to him and they would pick a different fan to take it to each one of his concerts and then they would write about the experience in the book and then ship it to the person picked next. I thought it would be neat to do that with Tori. I think it's safe to say we are all obsessed enough to do that. Or maybe that little story will *spark* another idea. And one more quick thing. I live in Birmingham, Alabama and so if I wanted to go to the Tori/Alanis show I have to go to Atlanta or Nashville. Well, I'm only 14 and my school starts a week before that so my parents flat out said no. BUT i begged enough that they are going to let my 18 year old boyfriend take me so I just ordered my tickets to the Atlanta show the other day. I got the closest I could but they are still pretty far back and I was just wondering if any of you were anywhere around me. I'm in row ZZ I think it's seats 7 and 8.
