Hello, I realize the photo does not look like Tori in many ways, but I have no reason to think it is a fake. Some of these photographers can really make their subjects look different and I think that is the case here. I received the photo from a very reliable source. Ok the whole thing with the 5&1/2 week tour is that tori and alanis are "co-headlining" meaning they both get equal stage time. mp3.com said that tori and alanis will be picking their opening acts from local groups. and also, as a side bar, IF one were opening for the other i would not be able to handle tori opening for alanis. as much as i adore tori i detest alanis just as much. the sheer fact that tori has been around so much longer would (in my opinion) degrade her as an artist if she opened for alanis. now i already have tickets for three shows, but this whole touring with alanis (like someone else mentioned) makes me sick. part of me wants to see tori again so badly but another part is just like "you're paying $48 dollars to see an artist you hate??" i dunno... but just remember the phrase "co-headlining." also, my apologies to anyone i offended w/ my alanis comments. ~~*~shannon. >From: "Carrie B." >Reply-To: "Carrie B." >To: ISpaceDogI@aol.com >CC: precious-things@smoe.org, tori-news@smoe.org >Subject: Re: Who's opening for Tori & Alanis? >Date: Thu, 10 Jun 1999 22:54:07 -0400 (EDT) > > > >My impression was that Tori is opening for Alanis. This is about "Cornflake Girl" KF: Who's "Rabbit" in that song? Tori Amos: Rabbit is a Deadhead, who lives in Northern California. Rabbit is a girl. She lives in the forest, and makes beads, and she lives with Fox. I wished I cold have been Rabbit! KF: Tell me about 'the man with the golden gun.' Is he a wolf? Tori: No. Never. He is dreams. He was never a contender, nor did he ever want to be. He is someone who you know; he is just someone who... Although I like my Alice in Wonderland theory much better I would much rather know what Tori was thinking when she wrote that song more than I would like to believe what it means to me. So I'm going to go with what she said. Now this comment really caught my attention. >> i mean yeah sure some of tori songs are great >>to analyze but we have to draw a line somewhere in the sand and realize that >>not every single sentence or even song for that matter has a meaning. I disagree with that. I'm sure Tori doesn't go out and write a song so it will have this deep profound meaning, but it ends up being all symbolic anyway because she's that kind of an artist who just can't help it which IMHO makes her just completely awesome. Tori to me is a real artist because she is someone who would write music even if she wasn't get paid because this is something she has to do because it's inside her to do it. I would really like to see a quote where Tori actually says that every single one of her lines doesn't mean something. >> tori herself has even said that they don't and people shouldn't be fussing over >> them because she just wrote them because they sounded good. If that's true I really feel like killing myself for obsessing over someone who said that... If I wanted to listen to an artist who put words together because they sounded good or pretty and wanted to be all fluffy I would listen to Puff Daddy or the Spice Girls. And in the words of Tori "God bless Puff Daddy" but I'm looking for music that's a bit more intelligent than that. The whole reason I started listening to Tori was primarily because of her lyrics, and if she were to say that they don't mean anything that makes me very sad. I think that's untrue though. You guys probably disagree, but I believe every single thing she writes means something and she would never put words together just because they sounded good together. Whether it be the pigs, or the nine inch nails, or golden guns or rabbits... It has to mean something right? May the faeries be with everyone, :-) *Cindy* ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V4 #173 *************************************
