I swear to you your experience was almost an exact carbon copy of mine! And how did this happen? I *also* got seats on the far, far right in row DD...(accept to the Chicago show)...too weird. Yes, I found that a little frustrating because I got in alright at about a quarter to 9, and then 9 rolled around, and then 9:15 and then 9:30, etc..etc...and still they hadn't gone on sale, so I just gave up and left the site because I really had to get to work..I tried to get back in a few times before I left but no luck. I'm still not sure *exactly* when they ended up going on sale but I didn't get anything until I got home after 7...honestly I was surprised anything in the first section of the Pavillion was left, so I figured I got lucky. Overall though, I have to say that I've heard that a lot of hardcore Tori fans were able to get seats in the first 10 rows which is highly unusual for what should be such an immensely popular tour. You know, usually that stuff is reserved for people with connections or the radio stations or what have you...so in a way, this worked out well for fans, at least better than what I've seen in the past, so although I think the system could use some tightening up perhaps, I think it worked out well overall. Much of tori's work is about experirences, ideas, emotions, and mythologies, these things IHMO have no gender, they speak to those who listen regardless of their gender. That's not to say they might not be about gender, or contain ideas about gender, but i can't see the song itself really having a gender in the same sense. but again, this is my opinion... then Anne continued >The lyrics, the >music, it doesn't draw me in the same way the rest of her songs do. I do admit, though, that the >video is cool.. there you can find MUCH to do with being female.. don't get >me started... >:Þ What exactly is there in the video that addresses being a woman. I think it addresses a common experience of women, which relates directly to the lyrics in the song. of all tori's video's PTM's lyrics are directly put into image. There's nothing abstract about it. The video is about experirence within the history women in christian religion (as Tori sees it, which happens to be the way i see it), and of one woman in particular. the Terry said.. >Well I am a guy and I am not at all fond of that song. This is one of the >few tori songs that I don't like. The music does nothing for me and from >what I have heard about what the lyrics mean, I am not too fond of them >either, but that is just my opinion. As, i said earlier, this song, its meaning, is wonderful its why i enjoy the song so much. noramlly i'm kinda a lyrics mingling with music person, i go for the way the two mesh together and i often love songs and their lyrics and have absolutly no idea what its about. Well, I'm glad some of you had a good day on Friday, but mine was quite terrible. I got up early, (I work nights, so getting up at 9 is difficult) got the whole "nothing works" problems and just sat there till 10:30, CONSTANTLY refreshing the alanisandtori.com page while talking with a couple tori fans on IRC. I'd like to thank Mikewhy for his steady stream of "everyone's having problems" email, cause I was seriously begining to wonder if it was my ISP or my connection screwing me over. Anyway, I finally get in, register and buy my tickets, I got what I thought were really nice seats for Nashville, Sec 100, Row F, Seats 50 and 51. I put in my credit card info, and it says my credit card was REJECTED by the bank! (I know my credit card is perfectly good, I'd just used it the day before). So, I have to CANCEL that order for the really really good seats, and get the 2nd price level of seats, cause my only alternative is using my Check Card, but I only have 100 bucks in my checking at the moment since this is on a friday morning, and I hadn't been able to get my paycheck in the bank cause i've been sitting at the computer all morning waiting to get tickets. Ugh. Anyway, once it's all done, I've got not so great "better than nothing" Row CC, Section 201 seats. If there's anyone out there with some extra tickets, or knows someone who bought extra tickets, I'd be more than happy to take them off your hands and/or trade them for my seats. :) (the online tickets, unless they reserved a LOT of tickets, appear to have gone fast, I attempted to get "best available" seats again, about 10 mins later and it sent me to row N, sec 101, which is a long way back from row F). Does anyone know why this show sold all the good seats soooo damn fast? A friend of mine in Tampa was checking, and 2nd row floor seats were STILL available an hour after it opened, and the best I could get at Nashville were 14th row. I'm still thinking of going to the venue on the public onsale day and seeing if I can't get better tickets that way. I MUCH prefer that, cause I can pay with CASH and not have bullshit like a website not liking my credit card happen. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 23 May 1999 14:03:56 EDT From: Tasha325@aol.com Subject: Re: Tori | Alanis tour on-line pre-sale In a message dated 5/23/99 11:40:29 AM Central Daylight Time, agentorange2@juno.com writes: << withhold tickets for the public onsale. meaning... just because you a pre-puchasing your tickets does not mean you will get the best seats. >> I think that this was the case with the Atlanta 5 1/2 wks. show as well. I may not get a close seat, but I still want to go. *sniffs* each show that ticketmaster is handling has a public on-sale date. at that time, tickets will be offered through usual means -- phone, box office, ticket master outlets. the latter two take cash. all of the public on-sale dates are on the individual pages for each show at the ticketmaster website. the index of the shows they are handling is: http://events.ticketmaster.com/cgi/events/by_name.idc?searchname=ALANIS_MORI SSETTE_AND_TORI_AMOS if a show is sold out, i'm sure it'll say so there. woj ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 23 May 1999 14:46:13 EDT From: Katapilla7@aol.com Subject: grrr I also was up buying tickets friday morning and am totally jealous that some of you guys are saying you got such good seats i didn't get awesome seats to the 4 shows I bought there are mediocre. well i have one show left to buy for and hopefully when they go on sale this friday i will get the best seats to make up for hte other four. whats up with that. kat ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 23 May 1999 15:29:43 EDT From: Freque79@aol.com Subject: Re: FTCGH and Live From NY Video In a message dated 5/22/99 10:22:02 AM Central Daylight Time, Belle7719@aol.com writes: > Um, that is one of my least favourite songs. I'm not a big fan of this song either, although I like it more than I used to. I don't know why I don't like it as much as other songs... It seems like it just doesn't fit right. I like the video, but the song doesn't call to me at all. It was supposed to be the "our song" for me and my exboyfriend when we were together, because he was a Trent Reznor fan, and we had our second kiss while the song was playing. But even then, I just didn't like the song that much. It's a pretty song, and I don't skip it when it comes on, but I don't get into it as with other songs. They are indeed on sale through Ticketmaster Canada, but you will find nothing about it at the Ticketmaster Canada web site or at their outlets. You MUST go to alanisandtori.mp3.com, choose Tickets, and then choose the Toronto link to buy tickets. Thanks! I'm new to the list. I've been reading your posts for a couple of weeks but haven't been sure if I know how to post something myself. Ha ha... I suppose I'll find out. I've been quite the Tori fan for sometime now. I've had the pleasure of meeting up w/ her five times now. She always amazes me. She manipulates something inside of me that forces me to be a better being. I realize that all of us are touched by her in some way. I'll save my feelings for another time on this. Hee hee. I also wanted to say, that I will be attending the Irvine, Ca. show. I'm so looking forward to this. I have yet to see her in the last show of a tour. I usually see her in Seattle, which is usually in the middle of her tour schedule. Anyhow, at the risk of babbling anymore... ha ha... I hope to hear from you. Feel free to e-mail or talk w/ me through IM's via AOL... . I realize that many computer uses laugh at us AOL folk. Hee hee... but, I can handle being laughed at. Take care. =Þ ...Desiree P.S. I'll be gone for a week or two, but, I'll be looking forward to getting home in one piece. "Not anyone I really know...
