Hi all, I've got a question for all my fellow collectors with more experience than me. Ok, the factor that has always helped me to tell the UK Tori LE/UTP (and perhaps BFP) releases from the German ones is that the UK CDs tend to come in thick jewel cases, whereas the German ones usually come in a slim case. I know this is the case for the single releases of: China, Cornflake Girl... but that's it I think. So here comes my question: is there a Crucify UK Part Two CD (b/w Mary, Here. in my head and Crucify Remix) that comes in a THICK jewel case? I have my copy (and it is supposedly, German) and it comes in a slim case. I've never heard of a Crucify release (non-US) that comes in a thick case. The same question goes for the Past The Mission release (b/w Winter (live), Waitress (live), Here. in my head (live)): my copy (from the UK, supposedly) comes in a slim case and I've never heard of a copy of this release that comes in a thick case. Finally, the same goes for Silent All These Years (b/w MAAG, Thoughts and Upside Down)... my copy comes in a thick case (and is from the UK supposedly), and I've never heard of a copy of this release that comes in a slim case. There might surely be more cases of this (MAAG and Winter come to mind) I know this all sounds confusing and kind of silly but I must know. If you can help me, don't hesitate to contact me. I'll try and keep this short, cos i'm sure i won't be the only one saying this. But, is anyone else absolutely spewing venom, black tar and brimstone over this ?! Can Tori's management or whoever comes up with these lame ideas not plan their way out of a soggy paper bag ? As everyone no doubt knows, none of the web sites purporting to sell Tori tickets online in this huge big first time ever promotional type thing, worked. Period. I was up early; even tho i was buying for the Irvine show, which was supposed to go on sale at 10 AM PST, i was up at 7 AM in case by some quirk they went on sale at Ticketmaster's site when other tickets on the east coast did. *Because we were all told next to nothing*. Whoever is planning these things (see: club tour fiascos): you can not handle this as if it is two tin cans and a string. Everything must be planned out to the T and back again, military style. Frontwards, backwards and sideways, allowing for any possible error or mishaps. If we can think of this, and foresee it, why can't you ?! And let us know EARLY while you're at it. No more tune in a week from now to get a clue when to tune in another week from now to tune in early next weekend crap. This isn't a friggin scavenger hunt ! We do have lives to lead !! Just release the info well ahead of time; and have it be FULL and ACCURATE. Please ?! Okay, so i was ready. I had all three sites up; on web tv i had MP3.com; on the comp i had KROQ.com and ticketmaster.com. LOL Didn't matter; MP3, which was unavailable (the Tori part) before today, didn't let me buy anything BUT it allowed me the privilege of giving my private information so that in future i can gets tons of spam. I went to hotmail and opened an address just for them. If i get spammed (as i did when i tried to get 'merman' off the old tori.com site; i never got merman but i did get tons of daily spam) i will know who did it. But i still have not gotten anything from them. And that was just for the first step, the honor of them telling me where the site even friggin is ! (altho i'd assume it's simply at alanisandtori.com, so why did i even need to do that ?!). OK then i tried alanisandtori.com anyway, even tho i wasn't 'registered'. If i remember correctly (it gets confusing), it bounced me to KROQ for the Irvine show; when i clicked on KROQ (still true as of a few minutes ago) all that i got was a pop-up telling me to come back at 10 AM today. It was almost noon by then. And back and forth; it was dizzymaking. So i finally tried Ticketmaster's site again; this time the tour was on its entry page, i clicked there (this hadn't happened tho in the past hour or more) and it took me to the show listings; this time when it said my show was on sale, it was, and i finally got tickets. They suck and cost me over $100 for two tickets. But at least i'm going. So i can't complain ?! HAHAHA. I almost bought a single, cos that gives a better seat usually. But i changed my mind. It wasn't much better, would've been $40something more on my credit card, which i can't afford, and the last tour i did that and got stuck with one ticket and ended up selling the pair of seats extra, for the price of one ticket. And sitting alone in the single one, cos no one would buy one at all if they had to sit alone. Not good. Most people i know will only go if it's free. Thanks a lot... well, some of them just can't afford it; others are just cheap ! Anyway, they at least could have had the websites UP AND RUNNING ?! With every possible way of keeping them that way ? For instance, what about during a yahoo chat; there are tons more people than can be accomodated, but it simply opens up into other rooms/pages. Can't they do that here, too ? alanisandtori1.com, alanisandtori2.com, and take the extra sites down after the tickets are sold ? Hmm ? Or SOMETHING. Ok thanks for letting me vent. Not so short a letter after all; sorry. I'm eager to hear how everyone else's experience went. But the part about registering at MP3 to buy on ticketmaster ? I didn't have to but maybe that was just Irvine ? I never ended up linking there thru KROQ or MP3 or anywhere else, at all, either. Straight from ticketmaster.com. (so what is so 'different' in the end, about that ? that we all had to go thru this other mess ?!) What's next ? I think one more promotional stunt like this and i'm switching to Jewel. ;o) Just kidding ! I love Tori but whoever is planning these things ? Maybe i don't wanna know who. Just stop the insanity ! Just release the info well ahead of time; and have it be > FULL and ACCURATE. Please ?! I totally agree with this. Its like they feel this need to keep everyone on their toes about whatever information they have to give us. If you're going to do a promotion like this, you have to be prepared for it. You have to have the site ready to throw up *at least* a half hour before the tickets are supposed to go on sale. Its not as if they said that morning, hey lets do a big promotion today, so you web people hop to it. Its silly really. I also had the tour page open and ticketmaster. I was all ready and at 10am I clicked on the show I wanted and whamo nuttin, big fat error. I was half expecting this because the tour site wasn't up yet. So, I sat patiently trying to figure out why I wasn't registered, but I thought I was, and every few minutes I'd hit reload on the tour page. Finally it came up different and I registered. By 12:15 I had the best seats I've ever had to two shows (4th and 5th row), and even better seats to a third ( but I decided against going to the third show). So, it seems as if I had a better experience than some, but I do agree that it was not a well thought out plan, and I think most of the blame really falls on the web site people, because ticketmaster was up and running at the right time... so... anyway that's my short random story. if you read, thanks :) oh and Wintdve99@aol.com said > I am only 14 and I am having my mom... > Well it all came out to about 200 bucks on my charge card (haha, and I dont have money!). I think it has a very femenine feel to it, and it takes a while to get the groove for it. Jackies stregth; Playboy mommy; She's your cocaine; and Pandora all seem to be very fem to me especially. Northern lad and Playmom are my two fav. I think North lad is a very classic tori sound though. Also has anyone else had the feeling that Past the mission is a song more so associated by the female fans? just curious. Inspired by Jackie O and her marriage to JFK. It is about what would have happened if instead of getting married, she would have skipped out early, still in her wedding dress, and ended up sitting in front of a 7-11 sipping on a slurpy. *shrug* That's what I read. I have just finished reading Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere. I chose to read it because of the obvious Neil/Tori connection and I have not read any of his works. I also heard that there were strong influences of this novel in "Hotel." I feel like a complete dingbat, but other that the characters of the Velvets, I really didn't see that strong of a connection. I am usually pretty good at picking out the symbolism of Tori's stuff, so I feel retarded about this. I was wondering if someone could perhaps help me out a little and aid a poor, clueless stranger. Any help would be appreciated. thanks!! cindy26471@aol.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 May 1999 22:30:39 -0500 From: "Mr Zebra" Subject: Re: FTCGH and Live From NY Video Choirgirl is my favorite. There is not one song on there that I don't like, but on the other CDs there is at least 1 that I must skip. Choirgirl is by far her most diverse yet and I think her most mature album. It's available on a compilation cd called Urbal > Beats. The "Precious Things remix" is not actually a remix of PT, it's a song by Rabbit in the Moon called O.B.E.(out of body experience) from the ambient sampler CD, Urbal Beats, that samples the intro piano and scream from Precious Things. Oh, and where is the site where I can get the RS/PW version? That sounds very cool... Matthew I've been raising up my hands. drive another nail in. just what God needs. one more victim. Keep in mind that Ticketmaster will NOT work for you until you are able to reach the alanisandtori.mp3.com web site and register there. I am talking about registering at the REAL site when it comes up! When you registered at alanisandtori.mp3.com earlier you simply asked them to notify you by email when the site is up. That does NOT make you registered! You are not registered until the site REALLY comes up and you fill out a new form that will be there once it is up. So NO ONE is registered yet....what you filled out earlier was for notification on the site (which they have not done either!) you have to wait for alanisandtori.mp3.com to come up. fill out A NEW FORM, and then you will be registered. Ticketmaster will not work for you until you are registered at the REAL alanisandtori.mp3.com, It will be a long day... Everyone is having the same problem, so you are not alone! In that update I said that 21 of the 26 shows were listed at Ticketmaster and that we were still uncertain about th fate of 5 cities. I now have an answer for those 5... But first let me remind you that the first place you should check is alanisandtori.mp3.com Friday morning.... Washington D.C. - I was told DC tickets *WILL* go on sale Friday morning at 10:00AM ET at alanisandtori.mp3.com or perhaps www.protix.com... Saratoga Springs NY - sale date has been delayed...it will *NOT* be for sale Friday morning... Toronto Canada - I was told this show *WILL* be for sale Friday morning at 10:00AM ET. You will either have to go to alanisandtori.mp3.com or maybe the Canadian Ticketmaster site at www.ticketmaster.ca Concord CA - This show will *NOT* go on sale Friday, but might go on sale online on Tuesday, May 25 instead at alanisandtori.mp3.com Phoenix AZ - This show will *NOT* have ANY online sales. You will have to order tickets over the phone from Dillards Dept. store. The sale date has not been decided. Everything else should be on sale Friday morning. Check alanisandtori.mp3.com first and then www.ticketmaster.com if you have to. All sales should be at 10:00AM in the time zone of each venue except for Bakersfield, CA, which is scheduled for 7:00AM PACIFIC. LA/Irvine people are supposed to go to www.kroq.com but if it gives you trouble try Ticketmaster instead. Good luck everyone!
