Erin ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 May 1999 00:16:47 EDT From: JayMGee@aol.com Subject: UtP Songbook EWF Hi! I was thinking about buying the UtP Songbook. Does anyone who has it have any comments about it? I have the Anthology, but I want more. I was thinking the UtP book because I would really like the music for Pretty Good Year, Bells for Her, The Wrong Band, Icicle and Yes, Anastasia, which aren't in the Anthology. I know that all the songs are extremely simplified, which sucks, but I still want it. I'm not sure about it though. Does anyone suggest any other songbooks? Also, could anyone tell me where I could find what songs are on the B-Sides songbook? Thanks. I can't remember much, but after BfP and before FTCH, I saw a reference (I think in Rolling Stone) saying Tori was listening to a lot of Prodigy, Fiona Apple and some others. I can't for the life of me remember who else. It's actually makes a lot of sense for her to listen to those two because Matt Chamberlain did most of Fiona's drumming, and Prodigy has that whole "electric" sound that she was aiming for with FTCH. Anyway, just a little info for ya. However, since it's a couple of years old, it mightn't be in stock anymore. Try Tower Records, if there's one in your area. If you can't find it, any bookstore worth their salt should be able to order it for you without issue (Tower'll do it too). The book is _Tori Amos Collectibles_ by Paul Campbell. If you need the ISBN, email and ask nicely for a copy of the Tori Resources FAQ. It has, amongst other things, the ISBNs for all of the books. I remember it too. It wasn't so much that she was 'mean' during the interview or anything, but she just seemed a little ignorant to the world of Tori. somebody was saying how some people 'just like the music and don't care about the person themself' ... well I think that's true in a sense, but not to the point where they don't -care- about the person, just that they haven't done any research. I honestly don't know much about the people behind the music I listen to, other than Tori. Roseanne wasn't trying to be rude or mean to Tori, I think Roseanne just has this... 'butt-in and interupt a person while they're talking' type thing... I can't stand her voice for one thing, and I felt kinda bad for Tori being on her show. Err.. that sounded kind of bad. I guess what I mean is.. Roseanne isn't the best talk show host in the world. She was much better being an obnoxious wife in a disgruntled family on a weekly sitcom. :) Just my thoughts on that... - -- ^_~Megasus~_^ http://members.xoom.com/Megasus/ ICQ# 14241089 *~The Divine Princess of the Church of Daughter-chan!~* *~List Admin of the Xelloss-Lovers ML!~* "I've been raisin' up my hands, drive another nail in.. got enough guilt to start my own religion.." -Tori Amos "Just when you escape, you have yourself to fear.." -Tori Amos ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 May 1999 07:55:07 -0400 (EDT) From: "Lori A Near" Subject: Re: Collectibles Hi Terry! Information on each of the books of sheet music, including what songs are included, is available in the Tori Resources FAQ. You can get a copy of it by emailing , or check it out on the web at . Please note that FAQ is slightly out-of-date now: you can no longer download "Merman" from a2b. However, I'm going on vacation until the end of the month, so I can't update it. I've turned this line over and over in my head and can come up with nothing. Also, does anyone have any information on the 5 1/2 weeks tour? The tour is coming to Orlando, which is like right down the road from me and the place where I saw Tori for the first time, and nothing is going to stop me from going, other than the fact that I have heard nothing about when and where tickets go on sale, and how much they are. Boo! Can anyone help me here? Thanks in advance, guys, and I'm glad to be back aboard. I can be of help, for once!! *UtP songbook* This book is awesome!! it has about 35 pages of lyrics and pictures, and under each song, there is a small thing that Tori wrote about that paticular song. My favorite is the one she wrote about Cloud on My Tounge. It goes like this: "i crawled up in a flower when this one was being written it was safe there and i wasn't ready to let this one in too deep it was already too close" But better than that, there are also drawings that she did while writing these songs, which are all very Tori-ish. I suggest getting it, even if you can't play the piano. It's great!! *Bee-Sides Songbook* The track listing for the Bee-Sides songbook is: *Baltimore* *Black Swan* *Butterfly* *Daisy Dead Petals* *Ettiene* *Floating City* *Flying Dutchman* *Here, in my Head* *Home on the Range, Cherokee Edition* *Honey* *Humpty Dumpty* *Mary* *Ode to the Banana King Part 1* *Sister Janet* *Song for Eric* *Sugar* *Sweet Dreams* *Take to the Sky* This also is a wonderful book. The only thing I wish it had more of was pictures. It only has the front pic, the back one, and then there are illustrations by Paulind Stuckey. Even though she is a wonderful artist, I prefer real pictures. Wow!! That was my longest post ever!! I have the Bee-Sides book too, and that one is cool, because it has lots of good songs (Jay--if you want I can send you a list, but I'm sure there's some way to find out online, e-mail me back if you can't find it), plus the artwork by Pauline Stuckey is nice.
