Tori will go first and there will be a separate opening act. It looks like this will be a long show ... I wonder how long each set will be. joanne ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 May 1999 23:30:48 -0400 From: "Erin Lynch" Subject: Re: New(?) Info on winter release... Re: Richard Handal's comments on the upcoming release--I was just wondering where you find out all this stuff you seem to know :) How do you know so much about what is going to be on the new CD? From what I've read it's all incredibly ambiguous, and no one seems to know what's going to be what. If you know something I don't, I'd appreciate the info. Thanks. (Not meant to be offending or condescending, just had a long, sprained ankle kind of day.) Cuz if so, that's pretty damn cool, and I should go buy a couple more. :) It cost me $3.99 ... and I know what you mean about it being a hobby. I collect keychains as one of my hobbies.. so I'd much rather buy a finished product than make my own. I get keychains everywhere I go... (I got a bunch in Japan when I was there 6 years ago) And if the money really -does- go to RAINN, then I'd be very happy. :) So I guess what I'm saying is... this keychain I got.. is it officially licensed, and does the money really go to RAINN? :) Thanks! - -- ^_~Megasus~_^ http://members.xoom.com/Megasus/ ICQ# 14241089 *~The Divine Princess of the Church of Daughter-chan!~* *~List Admin of the Xelloss-Lovers ML!~* "I've been raisin' up my hands, drive another nail in.. got enough guilt to start my own religion.." -Tori Amos "Just when you escape, you have yourself to fear.." -Tori Amos ------------------------------ Date: 4 May 99 11:14:54 MDT From: the Subject: 8-29 does anyone have any tiny bit of info on where this show may be? does anyone think a venue in new hampshire would be too small for a tori/alanis show? aleksandra ____________________________________________________________________ Get free e-mail and a permanent address at http://www.netaddress.com/?N=1 ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 03 May 1999 22:48:59 -0700 From: "Megasusİ" Subject: Keychains/Hot Topic (was Re: Tori stickers?) Well, if I really wanted to do something like that, I wouldn't need to.. I'd just use my happy little scanner and printer, with some high quality gloss paper and do it myself. :) But I don't need (or want) to do that anyway.. > IOW, don't get your heart set on doing something like this. You probably > can, but you might get stuck by the guy at Kinko's. Ahh.. well, no worries now anyway.. I took a little trip to Hot Topic today.. picked up a keychain, a poster and two singles. (Raspberry Swirl and Jackie's Strength enhanced cd.. I've no clue why I didn't get them sooner...) Hot Topic is probably the best place to get Tori CDs/singles.. I had NO clue that had such a huge selection. Wow. And they're decently priced, compared to Waves music, anyway... damn.. they had Tori singles for $11.99... gimme a break.. I can walk another 20 steps to another music store and get it for $3.49.. :) One good thing about Waves, tho.. is that they have Tori posters and the music books.. whereas the other music stores don't seem to have anything Tori besides the CDs. Most of my Tori collection came from ebay, until I discovered Waves and Hot Topic. :) whoo.. anywhoo.. I'm done babbling.. just wanted to say Hot Topic is cool.. (I just wish they'd get in some necklaces that don't look quite as cheap...) - -- ^_~Megasus~_^ http://members.xoom.com/Megasus/ ICQ# 14241089 *~The Divine Princess of the Church of Daughter-chan!~* *~List Admin of the Xelloss-Lovers ML!~* "I've been raisin' up my hands, drive another nail in.. got enough guilt to start my own religion.." -Tori Amos "Just when you escape, you have yourself to fear.." -Tori Amos ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 04 May 1999 15:27:32 PDT From: "Terry Ferrell" Subject: Flying Dutchman Hey guys.........Today in my English class we began to read this short story called sometime like "The Wanger Matinee" (sorry i don't have my lit. book with me, and I can't remember that name of the story exactly), but anyway while the my teacher was reading the story I began to drift into sleep, but then I heard her read a sentence that went something like "the piano score The Flying Dutchman." I quickly raised my head to find the sentence in the book and sure enough I had heard correctly. I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about wheter tori's song is based on that story. I myself have never heard the Flying Dutchman : - ( But i am very aware that it is one of me bee sides that can no longer be found. Just wondering if that is indeed the inspiration behind her song. In which case I think either it won't get released or it'll get the lowest key release in the history of Tori releases. I haven't seen E/W pull out all the stops on a UK Tori release since when? Caught A Lite Sneeze? Maybe even before that... > haven't made sense over the past couple of years? There's the "Live in NY" > video, the absolutely horrible US "Spark" singles... But then, the US Jackie enhanced CD was a triumph, as was the Cruel / Raspberry Swirl single. The remixed Jackie I don't know much about - it seems quite expensive for a US release, but I'm not quite sure about your pricing policies on that side of the pond. Yeah, so our Spark singles were good, but everything bad more than counter-acted that. > >Agreed - and you got a better Widow single, and of course we didn't get the > >Voodoo remixes at all. > > But you got the new BfP with the Widow remix. ;) I hope no-one holds that against us. It's an absolutely horrible item, horrible, horrible, horrible and should *never* have been released. Ill-conceived doesn't even begin to describe it. Quite apart from being a blatant attempt to cause dance fans to part with their hard earn money for something they wouldn't even *begin* to want, it stops the Tori fans who lose/have stolen/whatever their BfPs from having the non-Tornado mix Talula, and the normal Professional Widow. Again, we ask, wtf? For a long time there - until I went to Canada last year, in fact, I hadn't got a copy of the 'original' version of Talula because it's quite simply unavailable here. > *nod* I know, I know. It just frustrates me. {Of course, now y'all know > what it feels like to have to keep on importing stuff. ;) } It sounds funny, but believe me it's not. I have yet to see either the RS/Cruel single or the remixes JS on CD or 12" at all here, and I am *not* paying Esprit's prices. Full stop. That's the thing, in the UK we don't really see many import CDs, certainly not for 'lesser known' artists, either. > >Perhaps they used up their entire budget forcing The Corrs down our > >collective throats. Ick. > > Oooh, you got that too? Save us all. I think we got it far worse than you did... ;) > All of this makes me wonder how close Tori is to the end of her contract > with Atlantic and EastWest. I can't imagine her jumping ship {from what > I've seen and heard, she knows next to nothing about the singles that get > (or don't get) released}, but... I can't imagine her leaving them unless someone with some common sense shows interest and explains how bad a job E/w have been doing. The main problem is that East/West and Atlantic are all subsiduaries of Warner Music anyway, so unless she hops to a Bertlesmann, Sony, EMI or Seagram owned label, she's not going to get any better publicity. From what I remember, she has a couple or three albums left to deliver on this contract. So she ain't going anywhere for a while.
