For reasons which elude me some folks have begun to refer to the upcoming two-disc release as a box set. You'll have to ask *them* why. This "Jack" reference was someone's personal abbreviation for Jackie's Strength, which is now once again apparently set to be released as a single in the U.K. It was cancelled last year when it had been scheduled for U.K. release. I'm new to the list. I have a copy of the y Kant Tori Read > cd, and the best place to find it would be a t an indy store...those are > always the best!!! well, i happened into the imports and bootlegs section of my beloved and adored ranch records today, and lo and behold, they had like.. 10 bootlegs, but they were all pretty spendy, around twenty five dollars. they had a copy of 'y kant tori rede', something i hadn't heard of before called 'swapping tongues' (that actually looked like something non-bootlegged, it was a double cd) and a bunch of other ones, like over the pink, ultra rare tori, a live rainn boot, and a TON of others.. so, i ended up buying the ultra rare tori, since it had all the songs from y kant tori read, and i figured since they were BOTH bootlegs, i might as well get the bootleg with more stuff on it, cause ultra rare had some live things as well.. i paid $25 for it, and i have the sinking feeling that i got screwed, but i don't really mind a screw every now and then, so it's alright. anyway, any imput into this would be wonderful, before i end up spending my next few paychecks paying off over-priced bootlegs on my visa card. :) toodles, ami ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 03 May 1999 10:25:49 -0700 From: skh Subject: Re: shaved i have always read this in terms of, when you are sexually violated in anyway, you tend to feel that you can't get clean, and go to extremes to do so..... this ties in with that common thread of tori's music, also with the female circumcision "theme" of the song..... be well ~~kelley ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 03 May 1999 14:48:35 PDT From: "David Belden" Subject: Re: Fw: two/three cd release >Ok, I know this is a dumb question, but what exactly is a DVD >again??? DVD stands for Digital Video Disc. It's the latest development in home video technology. It's similar to laserdisc, except that a DVD is the same size as a music CD, and has (in my opinion, anyway) a sharper picture. The buzz going around is that in addition to the live/studio album coming out in the fall, there will be a separate live video on DVD. I have no idea whether or not it will be on tape. _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. Information on all the books of sheet music, including what songs are listed in them, is available in the Tori Resources FAQ. You can get this FAQ by emailing and asking nicely. Please note that all the songs in the _Anthology_ book, with the exception of "Rubies and Gold" {which appears to never have been recorded}, are in the other books of music. Likewise, all the songs in the _MTV Unplugged_ book, with the exception of "Over the Rainbow {which is the original sheet music, not the Tori version}, are in the other books of music. /nad ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 03 May 1999 13:45:15 -0400 From: Nadyne Mielke Subject: Re: Tori stickers? Unless you took the picture yourself -and- have permission of Tori to use it in any way you see fit, you're violating copyright laws. The Kinko's employee may or may not be willing to do this, depending on how worried he is about the legalities of it {or whether or not his boss is leaning over his shoulder}. Also, those "insert a photo" keychains are a buck or two apiece, and a color copy is another buck. You might not be saving yourself any money, plus you might have issues with Kinko's not being willing to make the picture for you. IOW, don't get your heart set on doing something like this. You probably can, but you might get stuck by the guy at Kinko's. /nad ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 May 1999 07:54:09 -0400 (EDT) From: Robert L Reynolds Subject: New(?) Info on winter release... Hi everybody! Picked up the May 7 issue of Goldmine b/c it had an interview with Tori in it. Here's what she said about the live cd: (interviewer): What can we expect? Will there be anything that we haven't heard before on the record? Tori: There will be a couple of new things. I don't know how many at this point in time. There's a B-Side record, and there will be some new stuff on that, and on the live record there might be some enw stuff we've been working out in soundchecks. (interviewer):I was wondering about many of the B-sides. I have a few of the songs from the older singles that are out of print, such as "Flying Dutchman" and "Ode to the Banana King (pt 1)" Tori: They are really hard to get, and yet they are the most requested things I have at the shows. There's more interview. It's pretty neat. :) - -Rob ~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Robert Reynolds Hodges Library Dark Prince Serials Department Everyone around me is a total stranger everyone avoids me like a cyclone ranger... http://www.geocities.com/TelevisionCity/Set/9346/main1.html ~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 May 1999 19:37:30 EDT From: Beulahsd@aol.com Subject: Re: Y Kant Tori Read question... Here's what she said about the live cd: That interview was intresting Robert, but almost everything Tori, Arthur Spivak or anyone else said about this upcoming release before three weeks or so ago is old information as the specific plans for this release have been dramatically changed. The Rolling Stone article quoting Spivak is outdated, and this Goldmine interview with Tori which was conducted in November is extremely outdated. I don't want people to get their hopes up that they'll be able to buy some of those old b-sides, because there aren't going to be any of them whatsoever on the upcoming release. We will get a whole lot of new material we've never heard before anywhere though, and I think the better decision was made. Maybe one day down the road there will be a re-release of the b-sides.
