Two quick comments and questions.. 1. Does anyone know where to get any Tori MP3's. 2. I am a rather big fan of Tori Amos for the past 3 years now, and I just managed to pick up Choirgirl Hotel. The reason I waited so long is because I heard that it was more or less 'Tori goes techno', and although this is not the whole truth, I must say that it is by far her worst album to date. I am not being harsh or cruel, I think Boys For Pele goes down in my own personal favorite musical albums (one that has affected me emotionally still to this day when I hear certain songs) of all time...which is maybe why I just HATE this album..comparing it to her previous efforts. Anyone else feel close to this way? ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Apr 1999 22:55:54 PDT From: "Shaigirl 19/f" Subject: Your Bootleg Collection Heya EWF! I'm interested in getting some trades going with you fine people out there that have a rather fulfilling Tori Amos bootleg collection. My collection is so small, it's almost non-existant, so I'm looking for just about anything. However, I already have *Sessions @ West 54th* and coming soon is *Covering 'Em*. So other than that, I'm set for go. I guess this is for people who are willing to do a 2:1s for a newbie and can burn on CD. If this isn't a problem, please send me your list or a site URL, so I can see what'cha have. As always, any help would make me greatful! I was browsing RockOnTv and in the "coming soon" section, I saw Tori listed for Sessions @ West 54th on 08/06. Does anyone know if this is a new performance or not? I'm assuming it's a rerun, but usually when it is, they post it as one. Just curious! Soma," threatened by urban sprawl. "Mt. Soma" (that's AMOS backward, duh) is located near Bel Air, Maryland, in Harford County. It was first deeded to William Amos in 1715 and the house built between 1715-20. Miraculously, it's still standing (though vandals' fires have damaged the interior). And though most of his descendants moved down into North Carolina, his home remained in the Amos family until 1918. It was purchased by Harford County with plans for restoration and preservation as an historical and recreational park. It is also listed by the Parks Service as a National Historic Landmark. 18 acres immediately adjoining the estate, and once a part of it, were not purchased by the County, and those 18 acres which have heretofore acted as a buffer zone will become 192 housing units and a strip mall if the developer has his way. A HEARING IS SCHEDULED APRIL 21st at the Harford County Department of Planning & Zoning to decide this issue!!! PLEASE WRITE A LETTER, just a sentence or two, TODAY so that it will reach the commission before April 21st. Just say something like, "PLEASE VOTE NO ON URBAN SPRAWL AND SAVE MT. SOMA, THE ONLY INTERESTING THING HARFORD COUNTY HAS," or words to that effect. Write to: Mr. Joseph Kocy, director Harford Co. Dept. of Planning & Zoning 220 South Main St. Bel Air, MD 21014. Thank you. And please forward this to any Tori fans and any other newsletters as soon as possible. Hi all, I've been giving this thing a lot of thought but I have come to acknowledge this is what happens when you constantly refuse to invest money on the Collectibles book. I shall not put it off any longer. :) Okay, so, the first Tori item released in the UK (in October 1991) was "Me And A Gun" on the CD and 12" vinyl formats (YZ68)... my question is, was there also a MAAG 7" and cassette? I'm asking this because I've never ever seen a MAAG 7" or cassette for sale, only the 4-track CD and 12" EPs. As I understand, a month after this release, the tracks on MAAG were re-issued on a "Silent All These Years" (cat. YZ68 -same as previous-) CD, 12" and 7" (b/w MAAG) and cassette (b/w MAAG). Sometime in 1992, new SATY CD, 12", 7" (b/w "Smells Like Teen Spirit") and cassette were re-issued (cat. A7433). This is correct, right? FInally, I'd like to know what's a good, fair price for the following items because I recently bought them and I'd like to know if I was ripped off or not: SATY UK 7" (1st. issue, b/w MAAG, cat. YZ68), China UK 7" (b/w Sugar), Cornflake Girl UK 7" (b/w Sister Janet) and Cruficy UK 7" (b/w Here. in my head). Thanks for any help! Hi, I often hear of people buying Tori rarities via the internet such as a limited single for $70 or even more. Those prices really make me dizzy. Usually it's people from the US who are willing to pay such high prices. I'm not saying people from Europe and esp. Holland, where I live, aren't, but my experience is, that most of the toriphiles I know, aren't willing to pay such high sums of money on just one cd. In fact when I go to a record fair (in Holland) I often see lots of promos and other rarities for prices such as $10 or even less, and the exact same items swop owners at eBay for $50 or more. I also found both the UK limited edition Winter, Cornflake Girl and Past the Mission cds for $10 each. And yes, I do know what I'm talking about, I'm 100% sure that these cds are the exact same items that people overseas are willing to pay $50+ for. So I could sell them and make amazing profit, but I don't, simply because then I would have to miss the music on it. (besides, changing currents and dealing with foreign checques really is equal to hell here) Anyway, you all might think I'm terribly lucky, but I think the reason why those rarities are being sold for such low prices down here, is simply that people here aren't willing to pay much more. I know of a store near my home that sells Tori promos etc. Lots of his items remain in his store for months, simply because people think they are too expensive. An example: about a year ago, the guy at the store had a few of those Boys for Pele promo tapes that are worth according to the rmta Price Faq about $40 or so, I don't know how much exactly. Anyway, nobody bought the tapes and every month the price went lower. In the end I bought two tapes for $5. What I'm trying to say is this: items that people on the internet (via eBay) buy for extreme prices, are sold down here for one tenth of the price. Now you can't deny this is striking. Maybe there's a difference in the way US toriphiles look at Tori rarities and the way European Toriphiles do? Or is it just that places on the internet such as eBay have ridiculously high prices due to the fact that they are sold by bidding? What do you think? Oh and if there are any Dutch Toriphiles out there who are willing to pay astronomical prices, please raise your hand and disprove my arguments.
