The other day we had a variety show at my college. I attempted to sing Tori's "Winter." My friend played the piano and we were a big hit! I got so into the song I practically fainted. Everyone said they'd never heard lots of Tori before and admittingly said that all they'd heard was SATY because that's the only Tori they play on the radio around here... Three people even said they went and bought Little Earthquakes after hearing the song... Can I say a new group of Toriphiles??! How exciting!!! Go me.. holy conversion batman! On a serious note, does anyone have any used Tori cds they are selling for cheap? Someone stole my Under the Pink and Boys for Pele while I was on vacation. (I don't say I blame them!! :p) I can't live without them though! Please contact me if you have doubles or used ones they want to sell. Thanks so much! ~~~*~Torihugs and Faeriekisses~*~ RED ~~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ "...cut out the flute from the throat of the loon... at least when I cry now he can't even hear... Give me more! Give me mooOOOOOOOOO!" hello there just a thought really - does anyone know how we could try to lobby Atlantic to do a "limited edition" of the live/bsides set with more than 2 discs, for the fans, as opposed to the 2CD version which I'm guessing Atlantic might want to push as a "best of Tori so far for people who havent bought the albums"? I was thinking this because - 1: a live Tori song usually lasts about 7 minutes, and that'll mean only 11 live tracks on the live disc (at 74 minutes per disc)- now if tori chooses to take bits from all her tours we may only get 3 or 4 plugged tracks in decent quality :-( (i know, better than nothing, but I'm greedy!) 2: its not uncommon for "extended editions" to be made available to fans, more prepared to pay the extra cash for good quality stuff they'd have to pay a fortune to hear just as a crappy bootleg. When Island records issues a 1 disc Best of compilation for 70s singer Sandy Denny (u like Winter? go and listen to Sandy's "I'm A Dreamer", NOW!!!), they also did a 3 disc box for the fans, full of rarities etc. I know other artists have done similar things, so, well, there's no harm in asking, but umm... anyone know who we should ask?? thanks! pete ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 02 Apr 1999 10:28:05 -0500 From: Beth Coulter Subject: Re: Keeping tour secrets for no reason At 07:15 AM 4/1/99 -0500, Richard Handal wrote: > >I've said many times that I've been incredibly lucky and blessed to >have been able to have seen an insane number of shows. If not, by then I should be a multi-billionaire from publishing my stories and I'll lease the Concord to fly all you Aussies and New Zealanders to the States. Hell, since I'll be so rich, I'll buy out the concert and make it just for us all. ;) Fairy Blessings, Bethey I'm OK when everything's not OK cause it's the Fairies Revenge they say and I have always been a Fairy *************************************************************** *~**Fairy Blessings**~* ~~ tori trades and really deep thoughts~ a proud member of the Tori Traders Ring updated at least monthly http://www.angelfire.com/pa/bethey/ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 2 Apr 1999 14:20:34 -0600 (CST) From: Amy Croft Subject: Perfect Pitch? Hello EWF! I have been wondering for a while, and just never posted about it.....is anyone aware if Tori has "perfect pitch"? Most musicians will know what I'm talking about. It is the ability to hear the pitch and know the note name. Most people with this gift can name all of the pitches you play if you just plunk your hand down randomly on the piano. I just had a feeling that maybe Tori had perfect pitch, and that would be cool, as it is very rare....but then again so is our Tori! Thanks you all! Right now, all we have on Tori's new tour plans are that she may do it in the fall and her new album, a doubledisk of live performances and b-sides and some unreleased tracks, may be coming out earlier than our expected december. now im going to comment on a few things Richard said. "This tour was not Tori's idea, clearly, as she told multiple friends of mine near the end of the previous tour that she did not intend to tour in support of this upcoming record, and Joel was apparently telling folks she probably wouldn't tour again until 2001, if not 2002. I'll leave it to you to figure out the impetus behind this likely tour." "The record will be two discs: one live and one with b-sides, with possibly some previously unreleased stuff which Tori held back from, say, Pele. Tori wanted three discs, Atlantic wants two." This bothers me. As far as I know, Atlantic has pretty much let Tori be loose with her style and what happens with her albums. Why are they cutting back on her like this? I mean, from what we know, Tori didn't want to tour this year, she wanted a break. So why is Atlantic making her do it? Why are they being so scammy with money? Can't they make Brandi or Hootie and The Blowfish sell out or something and leave Tori alone? I mean, no offense to those other bands, but you can't just shove Tori into a mold after letting her fly for three albums. Don't be cruel, silly record company! And what the hell is wrong with adding one more disk to the whole caboodle? She has enough great material to make a 10disk album, you know?!? It just makes me angry. Next thing you know, they'll be forcing her to get a makeover or something. Is this their little plan to make her mainstream and make more profits? Is this a punishment becuase they weren't happy with the outcome of From the choirgirl hotel? Why are they limiting her like this? Got flames? Bring them on. I don't care of you think differently. Im just a bit, well, confused. But not rageful, yet, because I know that these are only rumours going around and we shouldn't really take rumours seriously, but if it's all true, then Im going to be really evil to Atlantic. ::wicked laugh:: :) "One last thing. If anyone has any bright ideas how I can see all the shows on this tour and make money while doing it, I'd love to hear about it. Hey--*I'm* not proud. :-)" You could always try to apply for some kind of photography position, or woek for the sponsors of the tour. My friend worked for Starbucks, and got free admission to EVERy Lilith Fair concert and got to travel all the way around America with the girls of the fair. She even ended up playing guitar with Ammy Ray (of Indigo Girls) after she came and bought some coffee. Work for Tori's catering service, or hell just mail her and ask her to come along as her, ummm, mirror cleaner or something. ::grin:: OH YEAH! At the concert I was at, this girl was selling actual photographs of Tori for a dollar. She made a lot of money, and it doesn't cost much to get a few pictures and get them mass copied at a photo store. There's an idea. :) By the way, I've thought about these ideas A LOT. :) Happy April everybody! :) ::courtney:: - -------------------------------- http://fly.to/januarygirl [little}plastic{castle] ::my heart is like the ocean/it always gets in the way///and my priest says "you aint savin any souls"/my father says "you aint making any money"/my doctor says "you just took it to the limit"///have a seat while i/take to the sky:: {tori.amos~take.to.the.sky} Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V4 #96 ************************************
