I've been a subscriber to this list for some time, and this is my first post. Does anyone know what happened to the "You Know You're Obsessed With Tori Amos When..." website? I've tried several times to access it at www.tir.com/~aalcid/obsessed.htm, but it comes up as not found. Is there a new URL for it, or is it gone for good? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Once again, nice to meet all of you, and I'll be chatting with you in the future. It's fabulous that she might be touring, but it seems weird to have a college tour during the summer, when fewer people are in school.. I already have the grey one and have found the blue one, but haven't purchased it yet. Is it just more of the same remixes or is it dinstinctively different. Although, Blue Skies is a favorite of mine... >> There's no need to get the blue CD --- it's just more remixes that aren't that different anyways. I have both and in my opinion the silver (gray) one is better and thats the one that I listen to. ~~*joanne ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Mar 1999 21:00:29 EST From: XXXPandora@aol.com Subject: Re: is bfp everyones least fav? Since I'm the one who started this thread by saying that BFP is my least favorite - - I felt that I should elaborate. when I first heard BFP I loved it - it literally brought me to tears and I still love it especially certain songs like putting the damage on, doughnut song, not the red baron and hey jupiter (the album version, I despise the dakota version). The thing with BFP is that I haven't gotten into many of the songs like I have with UTP, LE and a few songs on FTCgH. I am planning on sometime very soon sitting down with a bottle of wine or some other mind-altering substance :) <--- (this always seems to put me on tori's level) and diving headfirst into the album to uncover its secrets. my order of favorites would be fav. UTP LE FTCgH BFP but I love every album and on each album there are songs that I don't like that much and may occasionally skip over. ~~* joanne ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Mar 1999 20:45:00 -0500 From: Mikewhy Subject: RE: A few Tori things... I was at the Ft. Lauderdale Sneak Preview show (her first show ever with the band) which was by the way a truly AMAZING concert and after the show I had to pee really really really badly so I rushed to the bathroom. Of course I had to wait in line for a while (there were only 3 bathrooms, we were in a club remember) so the whole thing took about 15 minutes. Meanwhile my boyfriend was waiting for me outside the bathroom and while he was standing there he somehow accidentally bumped into guess who? Tori's father!!! who was with tori's brother --- so my boyfriend apologized and Mr. Amos asked him how he liked the show and my boyfriend said it was great and then they talked a while about how croweded the place was. My boyfriend wasn't really sure if it was her dad (he figured it was since he was wearing his uniform thingee) and asked me as we were leaving is Tori's dad a minister and I said yes, why and he says well I just bumped into him ---- later on I showed him pictures just to make sure. Isn't that cool?? damn the female anatomy - I wish I had met him ~~* joanne ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 19 Mar 1999 12:04:42 EST From: Freque79@aol.com Subject: JS #1 BABY!! The article I read (sorry, don't know which it was) didn't put specific body parts to specific songs, but mentioned that Osiris was divided into 14 parts, I think. The idea was that there's 14 un-indented songs on the album. [The indented songs are intended as "chapter headings" to break up the songs into 4 sections (apparently).] I believe in the egyptian myth, Isis gathered together the parts to re-incarnate her lover. And now for some crazy theories: When Isis gathered together Osiris's body parts, the only one missing was the penis, which was consumed by a crocodile. She replaced it with a fish. [Mr Zebra/Marianne: hello Mr Zebra ran into some confusion with a Mrs Crocodile furry mussels marching on ... tuna rubber a little blubber in my igloo] http://socsci.colorado.edu/LAB/GODS/osiris.html Ever so slightly less tenuous is the "opening of the mouth ceremony". In this egyptian ritual, the mummy of the pharaoh is stood up in the pyramid, at the next rising of Sirius, the star. [It was held as the heavenly incarnation of Isis] In the pyramid there's a shaft from the "queen's room" pointing at a sightline to the star. When the star rises, a special curved knife, made of a meteor or "seed" of the gods, is used to cut open the binding around the mummy's mouth/break open the lips. This is intended to incarnate the spirit such that his "seed" (in human terms, sperm) will shoot up to the star, giving the heavenly Osiris the power to impregnate Isis and reincarnate the god as Horus in the heavens. The son becomes the god again. [Hey, I just report this stuff...] Anyway, what's that relate to? The thing that made me think of it was a mention of hired or professional mourners/widows at the funeral of the pharaohs. starfucker just like my Daddy Honey bring it close to my lips prism perfect .. http://www.think-aboutit.com/marcus.htm - -- Ken Tough ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V4 #80 ************************************
