I have never posted to this list, but I really enjoy reading it...I've found out so many things about Tori! And I have begun my journey from a "fan" of her music being someone who really appreciates and understands it. Thanks to all for all the insights and stuff. I have one question...I was listening to Jackie's Strength, and I wondered what the story was behind it. What made her write this song? Am I right in assuming that its about Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis? (guess I still have a lot to learn!) I know 12000 ppl are going to ask this and 12000 more are going to think I'm dumb for asking it, but where could I get my hands on this song. Rabbit in the Moon really screwed up Sarah's Possession, but they did an awesome job on Blue Skies, so I'm thinking this could be the deciding factor on my opinion of the Rabbit. Is it on a CD or does someone know where an MP3 of it lies hidden in cyberspace somewhere? Thanks :-) Matthew People say I'm strange. Sorry to COMPLETELY contradict myself, but I am beginning to like the remixes. I always hated remixes, and still detest Armand`s Star Truck Funkin PW, but I have found some I like. My local Virgin (non)Megastores recently got in a copy of Cruel/RS import, and I got it and fell in love with the Ambient RS and Ambient Spark. ITSOHV single mix was ok too, but I still prefer the real thing. When is JS released in the UK? I only have the import version. Anyway, I`m done rambling. Bye all! I only listed how many times Tori did certain songs... Some ToriPhiles have kept track of the dates and places as well... Here ya go! This might clear up some of the "Mother" live issues... Now, it's one of my >three fav's on LE (Tear In Your Hand and Precious Things being the >other two - both of these became fav's after I heard them live) This is definitely something I experienced as well with certain songs -- I felt like the live experience brought forth the true nature of the songs -- like "She's Your Cocaine" was my least favorite song on FTCH, but live... And the "Sweet Leaf" bridge just helped it to kick that extra bit of ass...same with Matt's incredible drumming on "Raspberry Swirl." I think perhaps the most dramatic turnabout I had on a song was with "Little Amsterdam" -- I NEVER liked that song much, but after seeing Tori perform it in Columbia, I was so blown away. And the "new" "Bells For Her" also reached out and pummeled me a bit. On the flipsdie, the only song I was not impressed with live at all was "Spark", which she did at the Raleigh show and it was the only song of the night that left me completely cold. A lot of people got drinks during those five minutes -- I think the reason I didn't like it was the change in the tempo of the bridge. I like the album version much better, because the live Spark bridge is more droning and boring, in my opinion. There's not that sprightly, dramatic piano. Shirley wrote again: >I'm not sure if Black Dove made the list or not, but that song has >to be one of the darkest and most dramatic songs on the ftcgh album. I agree one hundred percent. When I listened to FTCH for the first time the night it was released, this was the song that immediately reached out and grabbed me. I think it perhaps best bridges the transition fron Boys For Pele to FTCH. People were talking about before how it's hard to make a Tori mix and place the newer songs beside the older, and I think this song is certainly an exception, as is Northern Lad, Jackie's Strength and Pandora's Aquarium. But definitely this song. This song comes from a dark, dark place, and I adore it. It's still one of my favorites from this album, and is the inspiration behind the tattoo I am getting. I think it's vastly undderated, and a true faery tale. Speaking of faery tales...I just wanted to point out that I think it's incredibly ironic that Tori references mythology so much, yet doesn't seem to realize that she's created her own in the process. Today was a very *weird* day on MTV's Total Request Live. A bunch of *NSYCN fans voted for NKOTB (New Kids On The Block)'s "Hangin' Tough" video to pay homage to the band that paved the way for the popular boy-band craze. (How do I know? Well I was one of 'em that voted!) Don't laugh... it debut @ #2 today. You're thinking what the hell does that have to do with Tori Amos? Well doesn't that go to show the power of the people? It happened by people spreading the word to all their lists and friends and telling them to vote on a specific date. I know a few people have tried this before, but this time it can work. We need to agree on the best Tori video, set a day, and make sure you let everyone know to vote for it on that day!!! Let's get Tori on TRL and make it count! I loved Crucify live, I preferred the album horses and the DDI tour version of Horses better. Crucify I liked better live because I didn't much care for the opening of it at any other show, but with the band I thought it was fabulous. But horses, I think it is such a lovely song and I adore the piano and it was kind understated and more synthesized if I remember correctly.--but I'm very partial, although I shouldn't be, but I am to the song Horses the album version and the DDI tour version, but not the Plugged 98 version.
