Am I the only one who just adores this song. It is definitely my #1 favorite Tori song. And I was shocked when I saw Baker Baker, because I forgot to put it on my list. Diana Thanks to everyone who responded! You guys really gave this a lot of thought and I appreciate it. This is going to be a hell of a tape. For those of you just joining us, I am making a tape of "definitive" Tori songs for some Tori-deprived friends of mine, and I asked the P-T mailing list for ideas. I got dozens of responses, from people who had made similar tapes and from people who told me just their favorite song. Everything counted. The responses will surprise many, I think... 1. Cooling (most votes overall) 2. Winter 3. Precious Things (Richard Handal thinks we should use the Plugged Knoxvile version) 4. Honey 5. Here In My Head 6. Cornflake Girl 7. Sugar 8. iieee 9. Little Earthquakes 10. Putting the Damage On 11. Upside Down 12. Bells For Her (most single votes, as in "this is my favorite song") 13. Hey Jupiter 14. Blood Roses 15. Caught A Lite Sneeze 16. The Waitress (plugged) 17. Merman 18. Silent All These Years 19. Pretty Good Year 20. Raspberry Swirl 21. Horses 22. Crucify 23. Me and a Gun (I have to admit, I added this one in myself. It didn't get enough votes to make the list. But this HAS to count) 24. Baker Baker (I was threatened with bodily harm if this did not make it; luckily, it recieved enough votes) 25. Purple People 26. Icicle 27. American Pie/Smells Like Teen Spirit (live) (SLTS made the list but I think this version says a lot more powerful) 28. God 29. Doughnut Song 30. Marianne Now I want to know, what do you guys think about THAT? Personally, I was surprised that there were only 3 songs from the FtCH era there. FtCH is my favorite and I think it really showcases her evolution as an artist. But hey. And what should I call it? Kaiser Wilhelm the first (1797-1888) was German emperor(in German it`s Kaiser) since 1871 and King of Prussia since 1861. The other was Kaiser Wilhelm the second(1859-1941) who was German emperor and King of Prussia as well(from 1888 till 1918).He overthrew Bismarck. Srychnine - it`s a Greek word for an alkaloid. C21 H22 O2 N2 It´s poisonous and colourless and it can lead to severe convulsions. Money Penny - James Bond`s secretary. I think she has a crush on him. Ratatouille - a vegetarian meal with green pepper, zucchini, onion, cloves of garlic, aubergines, olive oil, tomatoes and parsley. Muhammad - born in Mekka round about 570 and died in Medina in 632. He was a prophet and he wrote the Koran(god told him so). Amsterdam - capital of the Netherlands(I bought two nice Tori posters there by the way:) )with the population of round about 700 000 people. Many museums and theatres. Mary M. - Mary Magdalena (Mary from Magdala).Mentioned in the Bible. She was the first to see Jesus after his resurrection. Any emails I receive on Monday or after will be disregarded. Here's a repost of the original tree announcement: Thanks to the wonderific Gina, we have an absolutely pristine CD copy of Tori's appearance on "Sessions at West 54th". She asked for a sucker (err, I mean, volunteer) to run the tree, and myself and Paul stepped up to the challenge. If you're not familiar with a CD-R or tape tree, here's how it works. There are two types of people on the tree: "branches" and "leaves". A branch is someone who can make CD-R copies of the show and is willing to distribute them to leaves. A leaf is someone who doesn't have the ability to make CD-Rs. Once I've received all the applications to be in the tree, I set it up. Leaves will be matched up with branches. I then make copies for the branches of the tree. In turn, the branches make copies for the leaves. This way, we can get a lot of copies of this show out in a remarkably short period of time. This will be a tree for B&P or US$5. Branches MUST be willing to do B&P and US$5. A branch can do a trade with their leaves (if the leaves have anything to trade), but there will be no trades-only branches of this tree. We're trying to spread this CD to everyone, not just those who have CD-R capability. So, what do you need to do to apply to be a branch or a leaf? Fill out the following and email it to the appropriate person. You can cut and paste it into a new email message. Make sure you answer all questions. - -*- cut here -*- Name: Address: City: State/Province: ZIP/Postal Code: Country: Branch or leaf? (If leaf, skip the rest of these questions) What CD writer do you have? Can you make DAO copies? How many leaves are you willing to make copies for? (minimum 3) - -*- cut here -*- Applications for both branches and leaves must be received by Sunday, 07 March 1999. If you are in Europe, email this info to paul@ljwren.demon.co.uk. If you are in the US, email this info to nadyne@rmta.org. If you are not in the US or Europe, email this info to nadyne@rmta.org. If you have any questions, please direct them to nadyne@rmta.org. Feel free to email or post this to any forum you think would be interested. If you do pass it along, please do not edit the content in any way. :) And here's a repost of some additional info about the tree: To clarify some questions that have been raised: * This is version that was broadcast on PBS, not the complete one. The setlist is as follows: 1) intro by David (ergh, I can never spell his last name) 2) Precious Things 3) i i e e e 4) interview 5) Past the Mission 6) Caught a Lite Sneeze 7) interview 8) Take to the Sky 9) Cooling 10) interview 11) The Waitress * US$5 means five bucks in the States. If you're outside the States, you'll have to contact the appropriate person (Paul Wren for Europeans, me for the rest of the world) to figure something out. * Artwork will be available for download later. Given the varying quality of folks' printers and such, or the cost of making color copies, we decided this would be easiest (and probably least expensive) for all involved. Besides that, I also heard that she died and they were engaged again or something, I think I read that on "A Water Colour Stain" page...excellent page might I add. Umm, but on another note, 1998 was my first opportunity to hear Tori live, but like most everyone knows she played Me and a Gun at every show, well, I have a few boots where she plays it, and it's really disturbing, and touching, and 100 times more emotional live because like I noticed this on the RAINN video, she like almost cries, or is crying, and on this boot she pauses for like a minutes between verses and when she comes back in her oice sounds troubled, and it makes Me and a Gun like all the more powerful I think, and it was a very moving song already. Just some thoughts (right now) Love, Hanna ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 06 Mar 1999 15:38:22 PST From: "Morrigan Connor" Subject: Hi everybody :-) Hey all you wonderful Toriphiles! Im new to this list, so I thought I would introduce myself to everybody. My name is Morrigan (a good ole Irish name!*grin*), and Im from Canada. Ive liked Tori since about 1994, around the time of Under the Pink, and since then, Ive been running around collecting everything Tori that I can find :) I think she is absolutely brilliant (but then again, dont we all!) I'd probably have to say my fave album is Boys for Pele as I identify with it the most. But, in 1998, Tori's music took on a whole new meaning for me. I was in a car accident because a drunk driver ran a red light and I was paralyzed from the waist down. I honestly didn't want to live anymore because I didnt want to live my life in a wheelchair. It was Tori's music that kept me going though, and I found solace and comfort in it. Eventually I began to see that life does go on, that I could still be a happy, vibrant person, which I am! :) BTW, if you would like to read the story of my accident its on a site called Wheelweb.com. Anyway, thats the deal with me :) Ive been reading some of the posts on the list and I find them very interesting. I cant wait to get to know you all better! hugs, morrigan c. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V4 #66 ************************************
