Just flip through all the BfP's in a record store and a couple of them are bound to be origionals. Or try a used CD store. The first 800,000 pressed contained the origional mix. The (-2) you were referring to doesn't indicate that it is version 2. Serial numbers for US releases all contain a dash and a number, either 1, 2, or 4 at the end. The -1 signifies that the album is on LP, -2 means CD, and -4 means cassette. (Random note: This is how to tell the difference between the bootleg CD of Y Kant Tori Read and an origional release pressing. The bootleg contains the wrong serial number, 81845-1 indicating an LP, rather than 81845-2 on the real CD. The artwork is also a little funky on the bootleg, but I digress:^) Slap my 'fro, JOE >Date: Fri, 05 Feb 1999 15:50:20 -0600 >From: Soraya Quiroga >Subject: Talula mystery > >My version of BfP has the tornado mix on it... I've never posted to this list before, but I have a really important question. Yesterday, I was shopping and I saw this Tori thing that I had never seen before. I picked it up, and it's like a black plastic box in the shape of a CD. It says "Tori Amos from the choirgirl hotel" with some hands on the front. On the back, it has the names of all the songs and also it says "unauchorised product". The wrapper was sort of coming off, so I helped it and opened it all the way. Inside is a Tori sticker of ftch and a certificate of authenticity along with the CD. I don't totally remember what the certificate says because the cashier sealed the box in plastic for me again, but I do remember something about limited edition maybe and I think mine is like 0354 of 2000. Well, the thing costed me like $91, so I'd like to know if I just basically wasted my money or not. If not, will it go up in value? Does it matter if I take the wrapper off or not? Just wondering.... ******************************************************* Sid Kossowsky gte793h@prism.gatech.edu "so I ran faster but it caught me here yes my loyalties turned like my ankle in the seventh grade" Tori Amos, "Precious Things" ******************************************************* ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 7 Feb 1999 21:23:33 EST From: Talulagrl1@aol.com Subject: Re: new single << does anyone have any of the new mixes in real audio or mp3? >> is the new single even available yet.... and if not when will it be available/ thanks rachel p.s. does anyone have a picture of neil gaiman and tori amos together? please ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 7 Feb 1999 21:07:21 -0400 (AST) From: trustno1@fundy.net (Celeste) Subject: Sessions does anybody know when the tori Sessions is gonna be on Maine PBS? i stayed up waiting for her and they had liz phair instead :( celeste i guess i'm an underwater thing so i guess i can't take it personally........*Tori Amos* ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 07 Feb 1999 16:12:14 -0600 From: righteous Subject: 1994 necklaces my friend from germany sent me a letter telling me she found a "baker baker triangle necklace" in a music store. is she talking about the waitress pendant or is this a bootlegged necklace? - -ally http://altern.org/antipathy ((your apocolapse was fab)) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 7 Feb 1999 18:04:15 EST From: Amazon8502@aol.com Subject: Sessions in Houston... If this is not on the label it probably has the original version (although I think someone else said that the record company screwed up when they printed the covers and there are some copies that are not marked) If you go to a used CD store, see if you can listen to the CD before you get it. I've had a couple thoughts on 2 Tori songs recently... Well, you know how Tori often says that a certain song is a sequel to another? I think CALS could be a sequal to Precious Things. Superficially, they both have the Trent Reznor references. But more than that, I think the link is here: in PT, she's holding on to his picture, she wants to smash his face and run faster. In CALS, she's got the same type of guy who thinks making her cum makes him Jesus, that he's the flu when he's really just a lite sneeze. But in CALS she...hmm...she wants to have the power to not be sucked in by him, while wanting him to love her. I think a little bit of her wants to play temptress with him too. On a sadder note, has anyone thought that "Not the Red Baron" is about AIDS? I had that thought today when I heard that a friend of mine is sick with AIDS. In the song, she mentions the "prettiest red ribbons," as in the AIDS ribbons people wear. And I think a lot of it is not believing that this creature you love who is so powerful, so full of life, has been destroyed by something where he couldn't even really fight back. I know that story about the sound people speaking Dutch and testing the microphone, but I feel like this is part of it too. If there are any other thoughts on any of this, I'd be happy to hear them. Thank you! Erin ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V4 #39 ************************************
