So Richard, Jeremy and I arrived in Indiana, PA and I got another number... 18. So this was going to be my second concert, and I was already happy because most the EWF with whom I waited the day before were there, plus I met Dor, Tucker and Becky, the girls from England and (after the concert) Jenny & Mel from Germany, Jessica...ahhh and I can't remember your name!!! Matt´s friend with the nose ring!!! I hung out most of the "wait" with Becky, Richard and Rurik. BTW thanks Becky for putting up with my english :-) and Dor you do speak great spanish!! By the time we talked I had been speaking in English for more than 2 weeks and I was going crazy as my spoken english has never been even good. Anyway after waiting since 8am. The M&G was about to take place. We formed the line and then discovered that they set up a *very* tiny barricade so I was in third row and wasn't able to see much. I didn't want to scream at Tori to get her attention so I just remained silent and smiling just as the day before. Right before she went in I was able to hand her a little note in which among other things I said, I asked if she thought Flying Dutchman was going to show up during the upcoming concerts...When I was about to hand her Cynthia's package Joel stepped on the way and took her inside... But he came back out and I gave it to him :-) It is obvious that Cynthia´s pack got to Tori as later on I received an email from her telling me that Tori sent her an autographed picture :-) Wooohooo!!!! I am sooo happy for her. So I couldn't talk to her, but I certainly took some pictures of her hair :-). Also during the M&G Rurik handed Tori a letter from Becky and asked her to play "China" for her. Becky was a bit dissappointed that she couldn't talk to her, little she knew what would happen later that night. Richard also handed an email from a friend of his to Joel. In that message she requested "Black Swan". This was a really small theatre and we got fifth row center tickets I thought this was great.. but when Tori came out everyone stood up ... and it was still great for a while... until the guy who was in front of me decided that he couldn't stand still so he was changing position every minute during the whole show.. I almost ripped his head off to keep it out of the way ;-) so there I was, my second concert and my view still partially obstructed...grrr. The concert was very good. But also *very* different from the day before. This one had a lot less energy. I can't really explain, it just felt like that. The songs were great but something was different. Maybe it was that I didn't sleep much as I was hiper from the day before... or maybe not.. Anyhow, right before she played Black Swan, she sung something like, "we get emails, and letters" she did a whole improv about that and I knew which song was coming... and Richard knew too, he grabbed my arm tight.. A guy from the press was seated right besides Richard, I guess there is a better review of the concert written by him somewhere... But I bet he didn't write about what happened after the concert... I went to the barricades to see if I could find Becky. Tori did play China for her and I wanted to talk to her one last time before I left. But it took me too long to get there, and by the time I got to the barricades I was behind a million people. So I just stood on the side was able to see Tori while she was looking at Marian's awesome book. It was amazing, she stayed a very long time.. like 5 minutes or so, looking at every page. It was so Cool!! she did exactly what we all did that afternoon when we saw it :-). After that I couldn't see her but I stayed there anyway. After a little while Becky came out and she was as happy as ever(well I knew her just from that day but still). She could talk to Tori... actually something like this happend: Becky thanked her for playing China for her, and Tori said that she'd read the letter and she thought that she needed to hear China. And then asked Becky if she wanted something signed. Becky said that she didn't have anything to be signed for her... just things to be signed for other people and Tori said "screw that, give me something to sign for you" and as Becky didn't have anything... Tori put her hand in her pocket and pulled out Juicy Fruit gum and signed it for her. Becky was really happy that she got to talk to her and so was I for her. Another good ending to my day.                \\|//                (O-O) - ----------oOO--(_)--OOo------------------------------------------------- ldamico@adinet.com.uy (at home) laura@redfacil.com.uy (at work) http://www.geocities.com/hollywood/lot/3373/index.html ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Jan 1999 16:13:50 EST From: MySiren812@aol.com Subject: Precious Things Hey all, so does anyone know of a site where I could find the sheet music to Precious Things? They think I'm weird. I collect Tori Amos CDs. I've been listening to Tori for about three years now, and she's become my favorite artist by far. Somebody on this list was talking about what would happen when Tori becomes less popular. I just wonder, is she really that popular and well known to begin with? When I started listening to Tori, I only knew about three other people who listened to her music. Since then, I've gotten several other people to be fans, but she's still sorta underground. My question is, would it really be better if Tori was mainstream? I kinda think one of the best parts of being a Tori fan, is the questioning looks people give you when you mention Tori, and the look of "hey, I kinda remember that", or "hey, that sounds cool", when you play a song for them. Tori's music in a way, is kinda like a big secret that a lot of people know about, but even more people are unaware of. Some people have said that Tori "sold out" with the release of Choirgirl Hotel. Does the release of an album that sells really good, truly denote selling out? I think a lot of Choirgirl Hotel's sales were related to the fact that she's had a bit more publicity. When Boys for Pele was released, I don't remember hearing anything about her. I didn't even know who she was. When Choirgirl was released, it was impossible NOT to see anything. July 28-29, 1999, which is Wed/Thurs. I have to hold it mid-week because of certain restrictions on large gatherings on weekends. But with 6 months advanced notice, you should all be able to plan vacation days/personal days to attend. Here is the basic outline of what I have planned. I am secretary of a professional theatre in Quakertown, PA. I could arrange to rent the entire building for an entire day, have a catered buffet dinner and a private showing of "The Wiz". During the day, I'm thinking Tori lip sync contests (on stage, w/lights) and an auction for RAINN. Then spend the night at a hotel that is a block away. The next day we could storm on Dorney Park, a great amusement park (featured in the John Walter's movie "Hairspray"). The theatre can accomadate 200 people, therefore, that is the limit. The minumum amount of people (at $75 per person, day at the theatre, play, room and park pass) would be 100 people. What is Not covered is: Transportation (a bus can be rented if there are not enough drivers to carpool to the amusement park), meals other than the theatre buffet, or incidentals. I would need full payment on deposit by April at the latest of 100 folks, or I would have to cancel due to lack of funds. OK, this is what I have planned. It is exclusive to Toriphiles, doesn't matter if they're on the net or not. The only requirements is that you are a Toriphile and you have $75 on deposit by April. I will be writing the details of the deposit, etc. in the coming weeks. The reason it is on a wed/thurs is because 1). Quakertown can't handle 100 - 200 people on a weekend; 2) the theatre is only available during the week; 3) we get a better group rate for the amusement park. Let me know your thinks, because this is *our* gathering. I can't handle a ton of personal emails asking to have a space reserved. I would like to see thoughts posted and get a general idea of how many folks are interested, and who has suggestions. Then it will be a matter of who gets the deposits in until 200. Anyone who deposits that is beyond 200 will have the money returned promptly and be put on a "waiting list". So tell your friends, discuss it amongst yourselves and come up with some great ideas. Since we can have the buffet catered to our specifications, we need a Tori inspired menu. Also, a good name if Torifest '99 doesn't work. Let's make this a gathering that will be memorable for years to come. I've only watched the video once, and didn't put too much thought into interpretations of it at the time, having already listened to the song plenty :) but I felt like adding my opinion when i saw a few posts go by that thought tori was supposed to be a prostitute (presumably because of the makeup) who realizes that she'd be much happier as wife with one man and kids (or shall we say barefoot and pregnant). I would really hope that after all of tori's other empowering songs, she wouldn't make a video with a message like that! Yow. My simplistic view of things is just that hey jupiter is a song about depression and feeling like you can't go on without this other person who you wish you could talk to again who's no longer a part of your life, and how you keep going back to wishing for him even though you know he hurt you more when you were with him; in the video, tori with the makeup streaming down her face in the dark dreary apartment was just that - sad, depressed and lonely. She tried to call him, he wasn't home, she wished she could just curl up and die, and she seems about to get her wish, and then decides maybe it's worth living after all and gets out of the burning building. Or you could also say the building burning represents letting go of that burden from the past and realizing that it's ok to just let it (the ex she's all sad about) burn, and that she doesn't have to go down in flames with it. and the child could represents starting something new. but I don't think it has to be literally "oh, time to get married and have a kid like her". - --Abbe ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Jan 1999 21:30:39 EST From: Cindy26471@aol.com Subject: help with conversion of MP3 files to .wav files I really hope you deleted this when you saw the title if it does not pertain to you, and I know everyone is getting tired of these questions, but can someone *please* help me to convert .mp3 files to .wav files? I already have the most current version of Winamp. Any help would be much appreciated. Please email me directly as to not clutter up the list.
