First off, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Okay I was looking thorugh CDs at Borders and came across a recently released compilation CD called "Live From the River Music Hall Vol. 1" and the very first track is "Marianne" by Tori Amos. it's a really good version, too. Other artists include Ani Difranco, Barenaked Ladies, and the Cowboy Junkies. I loved the whole CD. Unfortunatly I didn't have any money that day. All of the procedes for the CD go to RAINN, too!!!!!!!! Check it out. Second, I was reading the new Rolling Stones magazine with Jewel on the cover, and on the Reader's Choice Top 40 of the year, Tori Amos's "From The Chiorgirl Hotel" came it at Number 18, which was better that Madonna!!!!!! :) What else? Okay I wanted to advertise my new Tori site a bit. It's called "Butterflies Dont Belong In Nets" and it has one of the largest picture galleries I've seen on the web (including rare pics and pics from her childhood and wedding!), some artwork, and a lot of origional material written about her (by me and other fans) So check it out, if you have some time. The link is in my signature. Thanks in advance! And vote for it for The Top 25 Tori Sites!! Thats it! .courtney.january.girl. It's really kinda neat, how just completely random it is, but it's cool. .... just to add to the nonsense =) .... ~* josh ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 31 Dec 1998 15:52:06 -0700 From: Brandy Schaefer Subject: Re: Little Earthquakes video question. I have always thought (since the release of choirgirl, that is) that "molassas" represents all that is homey and comfortable and wanted. In the context of where she uses the words, It sounds like all though she really thought everything would be "molassas", things were just going to be strange and hard and lesson-learning things. I have heard talk of a program that can convert mp3's from their original format into something that can be listened to on a regular cd player or on a computer cd-rom. I am not sure what this is called, if it even in fact does exist. I have found something called Mp3Blaster....here's a link to a HUGE site of different audio software, I hope it helps! http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/ >Date: Wed, 30 Dec 1998 19:36:23 -0800 >To: "Shaigirl 19/f" >From: Minako Allen >Subject: Re: Tori MP3s & CD-Rs >Cc: precious-things@smoe.org >Reply-To: Minako Allen > > >I have a related question about this...I was told by a friend that CD >players would not be able to play CD's with MP3's recorded on them due to >the fact that they are compressed sound files. As in being addicted to nicotine patches...they're for a good cause, but they are not actually good for you. Also, being afraid of a light in the dark...good light, bad light, it's there. you can be afraid of it, or you can look toward it in a good way...I know, "how can anyone say a miscarage is a good thing?" but I think spark is all about trying to see the 2 different sides of things, and then figuring it out. Somehow, if you can tie it all together, good for you :) happy new year ~~Val At 08:06 PM 12/30/98 EST, Bobdel123@aol.com wrote: > >hey there everyone >i haven't posted in quite awhile and I have missed you guys. >so anyway the whole list talking about spark has triggered my mind to start >its gears agoing again. >so this is my theory on spark the video anyway. > >so the video starts with her just lying on the ground right. >so this could just be her lyign there but i thikn it has to do with the whole >shock of the baby kinda you know knocking her out. >people don't usually just lay on the ground so the baby knocks her everyday >life out of whack. >okay so she gets up and she's off. >well did anyone else notice that she is only wearign one boot. >well she runs into the woods and she looses the one boot. >well this is one of the many in my mind symbols of the loss of the baby. >so she falls alot in the video too so i think that this is the effect of the >baby being lost on her everyday life like her laying down in the woods. >anyway she runs by a tree and grazes her hand on it and it spells skeeter. >she lets go and keeps going. >this i think is a combo. >her grandfather was really into nature and she lost him. >well she lost the baby and isn't it crazy that the tree has maybe i think a >name for the baby on it. >welll anyway. >her grandfather has alot to do with the video i think with all the refrences >to nature like the frog jumping and all the bugs at the begining. >so she goes on. >her being tied up and blind folded is the symbol her not being able to escape >the "circus" she is in. >when she looses the blind fold she is about to go unber water i think or she >is under. >well she looses the rope and the blindfold when she goes under. >this is her going to florida the escape of the ties that bound her to the >baby. >water is a purifying agent so it cleanses her. >she is free to look and touch things as she normally would. >okay so she runs some more. >the hawk is her grandfather always watching her and being there for her. >well did anyone else notice the initials on the cufflinks of the guy chashing >her. >well they are jw >john witherspoon her tour manager. >he is chasing and persisting and making her work and she is just going and >trying to please him the running. >so he is stopped when the car blows up which is again another symbol for the >loss of the baby. >so anyway she gets to road and she meets the people. >they just sit quietly and stare then drive away. >i think these are hte fans. >we sit back blindly not noticing what she is sacrificing to please us and we >are sked for help and just don't know how to aid and we just leave. >not saying we don't help tori but that we don't help people like tori says to >by loving everyone no matter how hard. >its kinda christ liek huh. >anyway so she turns and her hands are bleeding. >thos os another symbol of the loss of the baby. >so yeah she doesn't free her hads so sorry guys forget that but she can see >thats the main point. >so there you go guys sorry its so long but i had to do it. >its not the best but i liek it. > >all love in tori >the >raspberry swirl boy > > ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V4 #1 ***********************************
