If they don't sell out to subscribers, they may let the rest go to others. But don't quote me on that. I have a feeling the first 200 subscribers will want them all. The other > advantage has nothing to do with images, it's the sound. It's like > comparing a CD to a Cassette of a concert. The CD is clearer, and there is far less > background hiss. actually, there's quite a difference. DVD productions are typically shot on film (ie: movies) and things that will be going out on VHS will typically be shot on tape, usually a high end betacam, either betacam sp, betacam sx, or digital betacam, possibly even one of the better digital formats, but it's not film. You wouldn't shoot in film unless you had intentions of putting it on a higher quality picture (dvd is capable of fullscreen 16:9, vhs is not). And also, if you were shooting on tape, it probably wouldn't be going on DVD, since it wouldn't look as great really. The sound, yeah, there's a big difference there I suppose. The DVD can do the 5.1 channels of digital sound, assuming they recorded the audio on something really good, which they could have from the soundboard very easily, and VHS has 2 channels of stereo sound, 4 with hi-fi. And most of the difference has to do in the acquisition of the picture and sound, not in the end media. ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V3 #431 *************************************
