Well.. It's really hard for me to imagine anyone else singing Tori's music, but I know you just have to imagine it completely different. Tori does other people's songs differently, adding her own sense of the music to it. And that's what others would do. I think it would be beautiful to hear Stevie Nicks or Sarah McLachlan do "Girl." And for some reason I'd like to hear Jewel do "Flying Dutchman." I can't say why... It just seems it would fit. This would be so perfect, especially if she slowed it down as she does with alot of her covers. I actually got to see Bauhaus fairly recently and they played this song as well as a cover of The Passenger, which would also be an excellent song for Tori to cover. love, Reagan ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 13 Dec 1998 23:18:38 -0800 From: "David Morgan" Subject: Little Drummer Boy The "So this is Cristmas" cover of Little Drummer boy, and I think that version of it, are also on "You Sleigh Me". Ah well. :) Other highlights include an AWESOME saxophone version of White Christmas by James Carter (fantastic slap tonguing!) and Juliana Hatfield performing Make It Home. Good CD! Quick answer: it depends on the artist. :) Longer answer: Tori generally only releases things while she's touring. While "Playboy Mommy" was advanced as a single option, it doesn't look like it'll happen. This happened on the last album, too, with PtDo. /nad ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Dec 1998 12:07:06 -0500 From: Nadyne Mielke Subject: Re: playboy mommy and merman At 06:10 PM 12/13/1998 -0600, machina wrote: > >just a quick question: >what happened to playboy mommy? wasn't it supposed to be a single? and what >about merman as a b-side to it? if anyone has any info, please let me know (: "Playboy Mommy" was mentioned as one of the possible singles early on. However, it doesn't look like that's going to happen. {Although Atlantic hasn't exactly been great about keeping us informed about this kind of thing, eh?} It was on the four-track promo, which is generally a pretty good indicator of singles. But then, PtDo was on the BfP four-track promo, and it never was released either. "Merman" was supposed to be the bee-side to the UK JS single, which never got released. At this point, I'm guessing that we're not going to see it until the bee-sides compilation gets released {if it gets released, that is}. /nad ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Dec 1998 20:29:37 From: the Subject: 3 things... first, can someone tell how i can put together some tori pics i have to make myself lovely computer wallpaper... then...what did tori sing/do on the rosie o'donnel show...if the 12/22 day is a re-run (i missed it...) and about the anastasia thing...i don't know too much about the story but wasn't anna anderson disproved for more than just money? i saw a special on her a while ago and they actually did some dna testing, on a some part of her that was removed in some operation before she died and two other people and...they said her dna more closely match some other person's rather than anastasia's uncle...i'm not saying anything really, i mean, i haven't made up my mind as to the whole thing...but...we can't really know for sure if it really was her... happy thoughts to all, ____________________________________________________________________ Get free e-mail and a permanent address at http://www.netaddress.com/?N=1 ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Dec 1998 18:35:52 -0500 From: Nadyne Mielke Subject: Re: just a question At 02:26 PM 12/14/98 -0500, Dink6@aol.com wrote: >okay hi all. i was just wondering what DDI means, since its talked about alot >and seems to be a big deal. lemme in on the secret :) Dew Drop Inn. Tori did SATY on Rosie in 1997, as part of some promotional stuff surrounding RAINN. That's the same time period where she released the SATY single in the US, did the Lifetime television special {the entirety of which became the "Live in NY" video}, and released some RAINN promos. /nad ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Dec 1998 16:41:33 PST From: "miss delirium" Subject: re: tori necklace *waitress* My only suggestion would be to keep looking on ebay. You're not going to find it in a retail establishment. It was only sold on Tori's 1994 tour. It's rare as hell right now {partially because the UtP tour was pretty small (comparatively speaking, anyway) and partially because the necklace is pewter and breaks easily}. You may get lucky and find one on eBay. They're worth $50 or more recently -- the one auctioned off for the ToriCon 1998 [1] auction in August went for $115. /nad [1] What's ToriCon? It's the annual gathering of Torifans over at rec.music.tori-amos. It's somewhat like the OkTorifests that have been planned in the other Tori forums, except this is a full weekend, and includes a dinner/dance and auction to benefit RAINN. This year's gathering is in August in Portland, Oregon.
