Being in the broadcasting industry, I'm REALLY curious as to what kinda camera equipment these photographers used and whether or not it's actually plausible for them to release a concert on DVD. It'll look pathetic (better than a boot though) but not anywhere near DVD quality unless they sunk a LOT of money into equipment (upwards of 100,000 dollars, most likely around 250) and I don't think for a minute that a DVD ONLY release could generate near that much in sales, considering DVD isn't the most popular thing yet and it has to compete with DIVX for a whille till people realize that DIVX sucks, and DVD is at least better than that. But anyway, if anyone happens to know exactly what kinda equipment they used to tape (or quite possibly film) the concerts with, let me know, I'm immensely curious. The Bjork concert from Shepards Bush Empire was taped using only BetacamSP cameras and it was a PATHETIC production compared to what it could have been. I only hope that Tori's management doesn't do the same. - --- Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life. - - Confucious. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 12 Dec 1998 09:19:47 PST From: "Thomas Mazorlig" Subject: Re: discuss amongst yourselves lisa anne writes: <> Good points. Megan mentioned some U2 songs as desirable covers for Tori to do. That made me think she could do a wicked version of "Mysterious Ways." I mean, can't you just hear her sardonic crispness on the line "If you wanna kiss the sky, better learn how to kneel, on your knees, boy"? We've been talking about things we'd like to hear Tori cover for awhile and I've enjoyed the discussion. I'd like to twist it a little. How about talking about Tori songs we'd like to hear other artists cover? This idea occurred to me on the way to see Dave Matthews Band on 12/2. I thought he could do a great version of "Raspberry Swirl". The violin and acoustic guitar would make it very interesting and different. Other possibilities: Stevie Nicks: Horses, Winter, Tear in Your Hand Indigo Girls: Honey (Amy on lead vocals, killer Emily guitar solo) Pearl Jam: Blood Roses REM: Cruel Fiona Apple: Take to the Sky Loreena McKennitt: Cloud on My Tongue, Mother Of course, you probably all think I'm daft, since Tori's songs are perfect by Tori. Well, yes, but I'm not saying theses would be better, just interesting, different, and worthwhile. Fear not. They're not going to release a concert on DVD. Tori said it's a documentary they're going to release using footage from some shows in it. The way they were shooting it didn't seem to make sense in terms of a concert video, but it should make for interesting footage at part of a documentary.
