I was just listening to Delerium, which is a band most people I have talked to have never heard of. For a while, I had thought that the beat of the song sounded strangely familiar. And suddenly it came to me - it sounds quite a bit like the beat in Caught a Lite Sneeze! Does anyone else listen to Delerium? This is on their newest album, "Karma." It's the last track, "'til the end of time." Is that indeed the same beat as CALS? Also, if you don't know who they are, I highly recommend them, especially if you're a Sarah McLachlan fan. The music is beautiful, and Sarah does the vocals on one track ("silence"). Anyways, here it is again: I have a huge favor to ask of some nice, giving person with Tori Stories and some time to spare. I've spent the past week downloading Tori Stories in mp3s from The Force but I've looked at the track listing and have found that seven of the tracks are missing from the page. I was wondering if someone could possibly make these mp3s and email them to me? I would REALLY appreciate it. I could make mp3s of some live stuff I have for you in exchange, if you wish. I would offer a trade but I am really short on cash since I'm such a slacker. The tracks I need are: Cloud On My Tongue (Disc 1, Track 5) You Light Up My Life (Disc 1, Track 12) Attilla The Honey (Disc 1, Track 14) Famous Blue Raincoat (Disc 3, Track 7) Sister Janet (Disc 3, Track 9) Saturday Afternoons 1963 (Disc 3, Track 13) Boys In The Trees (Disc 3, Track 15) Crucify (Disc 4, Track 4) Let me know if you'd like to help. No problem. Actually, I didn't see any walking on. My take on molasses is that it isn't representitive of an individual, but rather a feeling. The feeling of comfort, like an old favorite blanket wrapped around you. Having to give that up to face risks and the unknown in life and relationships. But that's just my feeling. Now what about "underwater thing?" I have voiced before that I think it means being *deeper* than most people, thinking about things to the infinate degree and digging some more. I've had folks stop conversations with, "you're losing me beth. That's too deep for me." So when she sings "I guess I'm an underwater thing" I believe she is stating that maybe she doesn't get it because she thinks too deeply, she's out of the loop with most people. I find myself in that position often (tho' I tend to take it personally). I just had a thought on the analyzation of Tori's songs in terms of who they are for or about, or what connection that it has to her life. Thought I get the same amount of enjoyment from learning those facts as most every one else does, it seems slightly dangerous to analyze so closely in terms of their 'intended' or 'inspiration' message. When I sit down and think about it, Tori speaks to me in terms of an artist. And when I analyze any kind of artwork, be it music, painting, literature, poetry, or film, I react greatly to their impact on me...the message that reaches me. The connections that I draw in my life. When I listen to Black Dove...the meaning that involves me, and makes me come to tears is so extremely different that I am sure her intended message was. And it seems to me, in many ways, this is how she writes her song. They are so full of imagry, metaphors, that she almost deliberately buries the ture subject in her songs underneath layers of emotion, feeling, and story that has such a different effect than the literal story might have. We have a luxury to know so much about her life..but we would never know what motivations drove Mozart in the compostion of his C Minor mass..or Monet's personal relationship to his lillies. But to us, they sybolize somethign in our own selves. I think, when we begin to too closely analyze the work in terms of their literal meaning, it limits our enjoyement, and involvement of the songs. When I hear Song for Eric..if I were to truly think of it as a song about Eric, it would have little effect on me. But to me, I think about my own soul mate, and it brings me to extened and deep tears all the time. It is just a thought..not an attack or criticism..becuase I do the 'personal research' as much as anyone. Merely something that was traveling in my thoughts while reading some analyzations.. I would love to hear other thoughts on this.. I wanted to add a few comments because this was my first ever Tori show and I was only about 15 from her for the show. Anyway... Excellent show, too great for words. iieee--- I actually didn't catch what song this was for a bit. I thought it was Cruel. Good version of a song that doesn't really thrill me. Tori mentions having some "pharmeceuticals" with Steve in her little story between songs and waking up in Ithaca. Past the Mission--- a very bouncy version. The bassist (forget his name!) seemed to be having the best time on this song. Cruel--- Tori danced a little miming that her hands were tied behind her back Little Earthquakes--- the drums were scary and the misty white lights gave this song some additional power. Siren---did anyone catch the vocal improve. I could swear she was talking about an old man and the ocean (or perhaps "The Old Man and the Sea") Yes, Anastasia---wonderful! I so wanted to hear this one and got to hear as a first time this tour performance. She did skip some parts, but it was still great. Black Dove---Tori was great, but I thought the orange lights out of place here. Tear in Your Hand---first time I ever sobbed at a concert, but by the end I felt some resolve that I didn't come to the concert with. I think I needed to hear this Crucify, and BD. Thank you, Tori! The Waitress---wild and thrashy! I can't believe she was eating soup at the beginning! She's Your Cocaine---also wild. The guitar solo is from Sabbath's "Sweet Leaf" (funny in light of the pharmeceuticals comment). Raspberry Swirl--- this one went on forever. it was great and the lights were perfect. Song for Eric---this was (and still is) only the second time I'd heard this song. Sooo perfect. And Tori was smiling through most of it. Her face was totally lit up. So my first Tori show was excellent. I have nothing bad to say. So tonight I was watching the news and they were talking about the mother of one of the Charlottesville, VA babies who were switched at birth. They said that that mother had won one of Glamour Magazine's Woman of the Year awards. It said she won it along with "such distinguished company as Mariah Carey and Tori Amos." Now, while I admittedly don't like Tori sharing honors with Mariah Carey all too much (and I don't know I think "Glamour" is the magazine I associate first off with Tori), I hadn't even heard anything about this. If she did win, I'm sure there was an article or something. Did I just miss something last year? Just wondering. Thanks!
