I'm new to this mailing list so I'll try to keep you all entertained. I live in Las Vegas NV and Tori was coming to town September 24. I had been waiting for this concert for months. The fact that I'd never seen her live before, she's one of my all time favorites, and I have all of her cd's, I could not wait to see her! So by chance, I managed to acquire 4 VIP tickets to see her show. First row in the balcony at the Hard Rock. Anyone who's seen a show at the Joint knows that it's an awesome place to see a show. So it was the week of the EVENT. I couldn't wait. Then, two days before the show, I got sick. Not with the flu or a cold, but hospital sick. I had to get an operation!! I had an appendicitis! The night when I was supposed to see TORI AMOS, I was laying in a hospital bed with an annoying roommate and nothing on the tv. How's that for sad?? I'd love to hear from anyone who saw the show because hey... I"m a glutton for punishment. Thanks! It's dated Sept. 1992 at KROQ studios. A fasinating discussion with a girl about being attracted to her best friend, also a girl. Tori really shines in it. :) Fairy Blessings, Bethey I'm OK when everything's not OK cause it's the Fairies Revenge they say and I have always been a Fairy *************************************************************** *~**Fairy Blessings**~* ~~ tori trades and really deep thoughts~ a proud member of the Tori Traders Ring updated weekly http://www.angelfire.com/pa/bethey/ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Oct 1998 12:36:14 -0500 From: "**Molly Marguerite**" Subject: Tori on the Breaking the law countdown Hey I was just watching that Breaking the Law countdown with the NYPD cast and Tori's Spark video was number 8! I think she got sentanced 1 yr and $4000 and up to 10 yrs and $10000! I'm sure they will show this countdown again...so if you want to see spark watch! This was my first time seeing her with a band, I understand how people feel about losing the intimacy but it still was a great show! Everyone was well behaved...not a lot of screaming out during quiet parts and everyone stayed in there seats, for the most part, Her opening act was a one guy and guitar thing like Willy Porter...I didn't catch his name so I'm not sure who it was but I think he sings the theme song from Darson's Creek? His music was kind of folky but alright. Tori came on around 9pm she was wearing all black and a lace glittery tank thing over it. I'll just do this song by song. IIEEE-- Wow just beautiful live, you hear how great these songs are live from other people but when you are finally hearing it for yourself, it just blew me away...In the middle of Iieee she started singing some song that I know has to be a cover from an other band she sang "If I ever get out of here, I'm gonna give it all away...You don't know me..." Somebody please tell me the name of that song I know I've heard it somewhere before. She paused and said (this isn't exact quotes) something about us being in the "fucking news" a lot and not to worry because she always swallows up on stage. Then she introduced the band. God--She started it out singing "Need a women, not a slut...Was lost from your wisdom" she also had the Dropped a bomb on me Jesus ending. Bells for her--Almost a different song! She said something about how the hadn't played her much, she was a favorite and they had changed her a bit...The cello, Viola, whatever was great with the song. I really hope this version makes it on a live album! Frog on my Toe--I don't know if she has played this song much this tour but it was very close to the album version. Tear In Your Hand--This song was also wonderful live, made me want to get up and dance, but every time I did people behind me yelled for me to sit down (I'm tall and was front center!) Caton did a little jig, while he played and seemed delighted by the screams from the girls (heehee). Raspberry Swirl--Some people started standing up and dancing...people from the back rows tried to rush the stage but were stopped, there wasn't really anywhere to go between the front row and the stage was a orchestra pit so nobody could get too close! I wondered how this song was going to turn out live...with the lights and all for a moment I felt like I was in a club (except I had to dance in my seat). I'm off to bed Sweet dreams Molly Marguerite ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Oct 1998 01:54:47 -0400 From: "Lynne Toussaint" Subject: Re: Y Kant Tori Read album Hey all, I been lookin to get myself a copy of this too...so if anyone is willing to send me some info, I'd greatly appreciate it! I might be going to see her one more time in Baltimore with my friend who cannot see her in Rochester but really wants to see Unbelievable Truth, however, from what I hear of the ticket situation, this might not work out, since we have none yet..anyways... I was basically just writing this to say a) how incredibly happy I am that I finally get to see Unbelievable Truth (and at a Tori Amos show at that...what a double-bill), and if you haven't heard them yet, then you are in for a wonderful surprise when you do...their debut album finally comes out in America on october 20 (its been out in the UK since May..plugplug..oops), its called Almost here, and its brilliant ummm..enough from me... take care james ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Oct 1998 09:47:38 -0700 From: "jeanaleigh *" Subject: Little Rock review So the Little Rock show was awesome. I saw some rather interesting people, but very few were actually nice. This saddened me because I've always thought of Tori fans as the kind of people that would be. But I got there late for the meet&greet and the people that were already there were shoving me around, making sure I didn't get ahead of them. Henceforth, I didn't get my picture signed. And there were people flicking their ashes right on top of me. Now, on with my little review. Ron Sexsmith was the opening act last night. My aunt and I arrived at about 4, and there were already five or so rows of people at the meet&greet. I tried to get a picture just by holding up my camera but I doubt it worked. We got inside at about 7. I bought my stuff, The blue Jackie's Strength tshirt and program. We found our seats, with the help of an usher. I was right on the aisle, RowN seat 111. So are seats were good. There was this guy, I don't recall his name ( we nicknamed him the Town Crier ) walking around trying to sell programs and he was LOUD and ANNOYING but I liked him. He had a really beautiful tattoo on his leg. Anyway, Ron Sexsmith was fair, I guess, though somewhat dull. I'm glad he didn't stay on any longer than what he did. He played till oh maybe 8.30 or 9. Then about 9.15 here came Tori. Oh my God it's really her! She was awesome. Here are my personal thoughts along with the set list Precious Things Oh my fucking God. The lights were so great, but Tori rocked! Most of the crowd screamed on "it doesn't make you Jesus." i i e e e This of course was beautiful. The lights were pretty too. God She added a cool improv at the beginning, all I can remember of it is "You need a woman, I need one myself." Northern Lad This was beautiful. Nothing more can really be said. Caught A Lite Sneeze I love this song so much with the band, but I miss the harpsichord. That added an angle to that song that isn't there anymore. It was still great. She improved a bit something to the effect of "I thought you could but you can't You're full of shit." Bells For Her I heard an mp3 of this one from soundcheck in some city which I forgot, but the version last night was much slower and more like the album version except with the band. Hey Jupiter The band left before this song, and I heard Tori begin to play this song and almost started crying. It was wonderful. Frog On My Toe This was the first time I'd heard this live. It was beautiful, and quite sad. Sugar The band came back and they launched into an amazing version of this song. I love the "you're just a pussy my sweet boy" part. Spark This one is great live. Very powerful. Tear In Your Hand I was so surprised to hear this one. I love this song so much and was so glad to get the opportunity to see Tori perform it. Waitress This was just the fucking bomb. Near the end, she was improvising something I couldn't hear because the rest of the band was so loud. It was great just the same. Encore I: Crucify A lot of people in the audience were "raising up their hands" and some were doing the little shimmy Tori does in the video. Raspberry Swirl This is where I got angry. I shouldn't have, but I couldn't see, even standing up for all the people dancing in the aisle. That took away from the song for me because I couldn't see Tori. Encore II: Hotel This is probably my favorite new Tori song and I could see somewhat better because some of the people sat down. I realize that my adjectives seem limited, but there are only a few words worthy to describe Tori. The energy in that room from the crowd and from Tori was awesome. I saw a guy with a shirt that read "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups" but I say, Never underestimate the power of Tori's people in large groups.
