Ken ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 8 Sep 1998 00:02:56 EDT From: AstroKitty@aol.com Subject: Re: cameras (was Re: concert behavior) During the night meet & greets Steve Sanchez (Tori's main bodyguard guy, dark hair) requests that everyone turn off their flashes on their cameras, even if they are getting a picture *with* Tori. Anyone who's been to a night meet & greet knows that everyone uses a flash anyway and Steve & Joel & Tori for that matter don't say anything about it. But it is requested. During the day meet & greets flashes don't seem to be that big of a deal (depending on your camera you may not even need to use a flash in the daytime) but I'm pretty sure they're also requested to be off then, too. And during a show if you manage to smuggle a camera in, *please* do not use a flash. Number one, your pictures will turn out better if you DON'T use a flash. There is enough light coming from the stage to illuminate your shot beautifully (believe it or not). If you try to take a picture with the flash, most likely it will illuminate the back of the head of the person in front you, making quite a distracting photo, and not help to illuminate Tori onstage. Number two, if you use a flash an usher is more likely to spot you with your camera and take your film away from you (I have a friend who this happened to). Number three, flashes are just plain distracting not only to the performers but also to the rest of the audience. Hope I was helpful... :) - -Megan Violent & Delicious: Tori Amos http://members.aol.com/AstroKitty/Tori.htm ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 8 Sep 1998 01:40:20 -0400 (EDT) From: Daniel M Perez Subject: Jackie single So, is Jackie's Strength going to come out tomorrow the 8th? I really haven't been trying very hard to keep track of the events which might one day lead to a Jackie's Strength single being released, but I do know a bit about some of this story, yes. As referenced on The Dent, my friend Nithya (who works for a record store and stays in touch pretty well with the Atlantic reps) told me Sunday a week ago that she'd spoken with a couple or three Atlantic people in lieu of speaking with her regular contact person there, who was out of town, and the one guy who seemed most helpful told her there was a problem with the pressing of the discs. This fellow suggested to her that she call WEA for more details, which she did. They said that the video clip edit somehow came out wrong, and that they needed to repress the first run again because of this. Apparently, they seem to be shooting for the 15th now as a release date. I refuse to get overly worked up about any of this. It'll come out eventually with any luck, and then I'll buy it. To invest a lot of emotional energy into the scheduling done by this record company strikes me as borderline masochistic. You gonna be at the State College show, Vicki? :-) Be seeing you, Richard Handal, H.G. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 07 Sep 98 23:45:00 -0700 From: Greg Burrell Subject: Re: T.O.R.I website? Warning: Nadyne's camera rant ahead. Folks, if you sneak a camera into the venue, please do me (and everyone else) a big favor: TURN OFF THE FLASH. (Yes, I know I'm shouting. But this needs to be shouted.) Why? 1) Unless you're sitting in Tori's lap, the flash from where you are isn't going to do you a damned bit of good. And if you -are- sitting in Tori's lap, the flash on your camera won't matter anyway, 'cause Joel will make short work of you. ;) 2) The flash is highly annoying to those around you. 3) The flash is distracting to Tori -- and if you're too close (but not close enough for the flash to do its job) you could cause those nasty spots in your eyes that we're all familiar with. 4) No venue (that I've been to, at least) allows you to have a camera inside. Using the flash just puts a big ole neon sign over your head that says "hey, I broke your rules! come over here and give me a hard time!" The venue does have the right to kick you out. Most likely, though, they'll just take away your film and batteries (which is why you keep an extra set in your pocket...) on the first offense. Second offense, they'll either take away your camera (which they have to give back, but getting it back is a huge hassle that you probably don't want to deal with) or kick you out. And one other thing: I don't recommend sneaking in one of those cheap disposable cameras. For the kind of pictures you're planning on taking, they're not going to work very well for you. Use a good camera. :) Flash == bad.
