It's about four months ago that "From the Choirgirl Hotel" was released. And in a few months from now I will start making "Tori Amos Covered 2"..... Hopefully. For the latter, I will need your input. I am hoping for some more contributors to this project, which has been running for some time now. I am especially curious if anyone would like to tackle tracks from Tori's most recent album, and make - let's say - a ballad version of Raspberry swirl, a rock version of Pandora's aquarium or a reggae version of Northern lad. It's all about creativity, and all you need is a little talent, some warm feelings towards Tori's music and some enthusiasm. I am accepting tapes, CD-R's and MiniDiscs, so pretty much anyone can enter. The end result will be a 90 minute tape and one CD, probably together with a CD-ROM part. If you think you can create an interesting ToriCover within a few weeks, please let me know. I will be waiting eagerly for your input! ...Something completely different: any UK readers out there who can help me find a copy of the 21 August Daily Mail? I simply want to show my view of it. If you wish to comment please email me at autowash@hotmail.com SO on with my rant: As I was getting tickets for Tori this year I met a few new people which I think basically sum up the whole species of Tori fans/Toriphiles 1. The Tori fans that LIKE/LOVES her. have more than 5 but fewer than 20 cds don't really freak out and scream their heads off but dance when the beat's right and soon find out they have joined a great group of people. 2. The Tori fan that is seasoned yet still learning. Has more than 20 but fewer than 100 cds and a good size collection of Tori at home. This person usually knows some secrets of the Tori world and the best ally to have on your side! 3. The tori fan that has been with Tori since '92(maybe '88 or sooner) has thousands of cd's videos computer files posters..etc. THis one can also be divided into 2 subcategories a. the one that knows ALL and we must bow down to and is willing to be our friend.Answers any questions and figures out the meaning of life with you:-)(it's in the shoes!) or b. feels that since we all act newish to Tori and say silly things that we are not worth their time or energy and feel that THEY are THE Tori fan.....They may brag about what they know or not say a word to you at all. 4. The newbie.....this may also be put into 3 subcategories a. The one that has only just begun. Has a tiny collection, young, shy but once you talk to them, they show "Tori Promise" b. The one that seems to be following trends, listens to Tori 'cause my friends do and she's cool.' Seems to take any "Tori-speak" seriously. Does not know much about Tori other then ."Didn't she learn how to play piano from Billy Joel?" We must pray for this person. c. The simply quiet, somewhat out of wack, trendy but alternative rock chick/dude. may simply sit and listen and not get involved with anyone out of their group of friends. These people may need a special Tori night to get them in the groove. I know it may be strange to say it this way, but I'm sure you've all had some experiences which may relate to this. It is simply an observation. And an opinion. Feel free to tell me yours. Which one would you be? Just a thought! Lov*er*ly observation. Well, I'll join in. As seen above, I consider myself myself 2a. I've loved Tori since June '92 and will always bless the day that *confession ahead-Caution* I ripped off an LE cassette from K-mart. (give me a break, I was fresh out the mental hospital and the therapist said I "had" to hear this album "little earthquakes". I was dead broke, but followed my shrinks advice anyway. I have since repayed my dept to K-mart inc. and AtRecs through good works). I feel that I have tapped into that special inner circle of "Tori worship" (please note sarcasm) where I feel if I don't know it, I can find it out easily. As far as the meaning of life though, I leave that up to the individual *livee* to figure that out. Not cause I'm not willing to share, but because I feel one's belief is their own personal destiny. I think everyone can be the same type of "ToriFan" (tm) depending on how much time they have to devote to the Fairy and spreading her word. But, secretly, in my deepest hearts of hearts, I wish I was the type of fan who hears and apprieciates the music without hearing the message, and especially I wish I didn't have the feeling that I must pass that message (and my own) on to others. The people in my town know I'm a Tori Amos "fan", but they usually react with "Tori who???". They find it odd that I seem so devoted to a musical artist (look, face it, I'm almost 37 and a fairly high standing member of the community as far as community works go), but find it a pleasent little "quirk" in my personality. Let's face it, there are those on this list who are now saying "inner circle of Tori's, meaning???" and thinking I'm a nut for saying that. I think I'm a nut also. But when you really think about it, Tori Amos is out there saying, "No more victimhood, no more stealing fire, no more lying to yourself", and that *is* an excellent message to pass to others. *am I babbling? of course I'm babbling*. I'm going to stop babbling now and thank you for reading this babble. ;) Fairy Blessings, Bethey I'm OK when everything's not OK cause it's the Fairies Revenge they say and I have always been a Fairy *************************************************************** *~**Fairy Blessings**~* ~~ tori trades and really deep thoughts~ a proud member of the Tori Traders Ring updated weekly http://www.angelfire.com/pa/bethey/ ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V3 #315 *************************************
