Just got back from the concert, and what a show it was! Here's the setlist with a few notes at the bottom. Precious Things iiiee Cornflake Girl Black Dove (January) Crucify Sugar Marianne Landslide Purple People Caught a Lite Sneeze Siren The Waitress ***** She's Your Cocaine Raspberry Swirl ***** Pandora's Aquarium We got there (semi) early for the Meet and Greet, and it was okay. We managed to see her before the show and say hello. The Devlins were cool. Hopefully they'll take off and stop sounding like so many bands out there, cause they got the talent to do it. The show was amazingly charged! Tori ripped into the piano like only she can do and put the theater on its toes. She did a couple of variations, like in iiiee, she added a whole new verse with some more music, and in Cornflake Girl she sang a short intro that was very nice. It was great listening to so many of her older girls with their new makeovers! Caton danced throughout the show, and Mike and Joe simply rocked. Marianne was a very welcomed surprise, as was Landslide; she does that song so well! There were some minor problems with feedback, coming from the bass, but nothing that big. They needed to fix Mike's drums microphones, and in the meantime Tori did a short improv song about having to wait for the drummer to be ready cause they needed him for the next song, but it sucks anyway, no I'm kidding, I love it very much... and she dives into Caugh a Lite Sneeze. Hearing Siren was great as I love the song, and The Waitress... what can I say. The first encore was charged to the max, with a very powerful She's Your Cocaine that had everyone on their feet, and the explosive rendition of Raspberry Swirl, another favorite of mine and the one song I had wished she would play! AWESOME!!! Words won't do it justice, suffice to say it was *the* performance of a lifetime! Second encore was Pandora's Aquarium, which I didn't hear cause I went outside to wait to see her firsthand. We stood outside for about an hour and a half, and we got soaked! It rained hard on us, but we didn't move (too many reasons for that). It stopped raining, we got semi-dry again, got to meet the band, and they all are great! Caton is really nice, as are Jon and Mike. Then it started raining again.... then Tori came out. She was going fst because it was raining, but admist the cries and shouts and shoves, my girlfriend got a picture with her and I got my ticket stub autographed. It's a bit faded, considering the ticket was a bit wet from before and her marker was somewhat wet too, but you can tell it says "Tori." =) A great show, definitely. I'm going back tomorrow for the second show. I'll get a setlist for that one too. Later! - -- Daniel M. TORI AMOS FANS GO DIRT POOR FOLLOWING HER AROUND This is a sick world we live in and in it are a lot of sick people. Tori Amos attracts 90% of them. Five percent are locked up and the other 5 percent are so dirt poor from spending thousands of dollars on "rare collectibles" that they can't afford a place to live, let alone a ticket to a concert. Yes, the Tori Amos world is in a sad state of affairs. There are 5 basic types of Tori fans. There are those who have maybe a few of her albums and who may see her in concert once. This is of course, only if they have nothing better to do. The second type of Tori fan is mildy obsessed and has at least 10 of her cd's, and possibly a poster or two. They will see Tori as many times as she comes within 40 miles of them. The third type of fan owns all of the US released singles, all of the albums, and even a few imports. This type of fan might travel to see Tori perform, but it wouldn't be a priority. The fourth type of Tori Amos fan is on the verge of insanity. They own every album, every single, at least 5 posters, and possibly some bootlegs. They will travel far to see a concert. The last type of Tori fan, the fifth is just plain SICK. They own every ligitimate and illigitimate release, and are willing to see Tori at any/all costs. These are the fans (no names will be released for the sake of the guilty - -WE ALL KNOW WHO YOU ARE) are the people that will push their way to the front of the meet and greets, claiming to be Tori's best friend. These are also the fans that sleep with the other band members and other misc crew members. They are insanely ill individuals (if one would dare call them an individual) who base their lives around Tori. Money isn't an issue to them because they just spend their college funds and/or their parents pay for it. What will happen to some of these "fans," if one day Tori Amos decides to quit the music industry? Who knows, but you can bet on a lot of homicidal/suicidal maniacs to arrise out of the situation. These people need to get a grip on reality, TORI AMOS ISN'T THE ONLY THING THERE IS TO LIFE Moral of the story: never get involved, unless A) you have a rich mommy and daddy to bail you out and have a low enough self worth to sleep with everyone backstage or B) are stupid. She is a great performer and probably a nice gal but people make her out to be something larger than life and her record company milks these fans ( read obsessive suckers) for everything. How many other established artists put out 300 formats of 1 song in 3000 limited editions in 32 3rd world countries ( to extraterrestrial). If she really really cared about the fans she would do something about that ( Suede released a compilation of ALL their bsides after releasing three albums so that fans wouldn't get fucked over trying to find songs which like Tori's are great!). She is enjoying the ability to play to a wide audience-- something she got to do at the age of 27 after too many bouts with Atlantic. She can put out her are finally and good for her. I saw this article in a city paper in New York. I hope you enjoyed it! in tori, mandy magoo ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V3 #299 *************************************
