I don't think Tori ever hinted that Professional Widow was about Courtney Love...I do remember reading an interview (I believe that it was the one featured in Q magazine within the past couple of months) where the reporter mentioned a possible connection between Professional Widow and Courtney Love...but if I recall correctly, Tori only said that it was interesting to interpret the song in that way...but as I understood it while reading the article, I don't think it was what she hoped to convey with the song... there was an article in Musician magazine in 1996 (and there are probably other articles out there as well) where Tori discusses Professional Widow...and she told how the song describes a personal experience...and she also discussed how it refers to her feeding off male energy and convincing a man to kill himself for her...I may not have gotten this right, but it was something along those lines...I'll have to dig up the article for the actual quotes... at any rate, this is one song that has taken me a long time to try to decipher, and I'm still working at it...I think Professional Widow is more complicated than something relating to Courtney Love...but people can have their own interpretations, and I don't think anyone can _truly_ and accurately know what Tori intended to express or communicate with her songs than Tori herself... enough of my babbling... This radio station seldomly plays Tori... I think they've played Crucify and Silent All These Years, and that's about it... so, if we convince them that there are people listening (essentially the hundreds who could e-mail her won't be listening... but yanno... they won't know that because of our e-mail address...) So... please take my request seriously... once you have come back to me, with the good news that you think the Toriphiles will support me, then I will already warn Tove (the DJ) that she is gonna get a horde of wonderful, polite e-mail asking that Jackie's Strength should be played... I dson tknow exactly how the quote goes, but i rememebr her saying somewhere (mtv?) that it was written for her ex boyfriends. now, im not saying that maybe ProWid is an exception, im just going by what i heard. why do you have to overexamine everything? they are only her words, her thoughts, poetry. nobody understands poetry. and you'll never come to a conclusion looking looking looking for her meaning? for your meaning? for her mean? i rest my case... and for the gal who asked about special plans for the seattle concert. i live in tacoma, and im going to see tori in portland. i havent heard anything about plans in seattle, but im guessing that there will be people sleeping out the night before at key arena. i dont know why, tori wouldnt be there for 8 or so hours?? but its your choice. good luck! and if i hear anything, ill post it for you. love in tori - -cruel choirgirl http://www.eccentrica.org/toriphile/index.html courtneys little plastic castle tori, poetry, art, me, garbage and shirley manson, pride, ect. Luciano-I find your interpretation of ProWidow interesting but I think Cindy and Marie have it. I read an article not that long after Kurt's death that had to do with whether Coutney was responsible for Kurt's death. The article claimed that her father wrote a book that was an expose of Kurt and Coutney's relationship. In it he claimed that Coutney did kill Kurt, or at least drove him to it. Her father was completely trying to bank on her success, the way many feel she tried to bank on Kurt's death. So I feel that the "starfucker" in the song represents Coutney's father, "selling his baby" b/c he wanted some success of his own, his 15 min of fame if you will, and therefore is striking "a deal make him feel like a congressman." I am not really a Coutney Love fan but hearing all this made me feel sorry for her even though I do feel like she used Kurt, even in death. However, I do not feel that she killed him. So maybe Tori was attempting to deal with her bad feelings about Coutney. I think Tori can identify with her because she whored herself a little also (Y Kant Tori Read). And obviously Tori came out of it and gave us the wonderful gift of Little Earthquakes. I'd just like to add to that to say that whether The Dent is down or not people should *always* feel free to post set lists and reviews to the list! Sending them to The Dent is a great idea because then they are saved in a well-organized format, but for people who would rather have them delivered to their mailbox instead of having to check The Dent every day (people like me) having them sent to precious-things as well is great. No refunds! Being a Wiccan myself, I don't think Tori is Wiccan per se. You can believe in the God and Goddess and not be Wiccan. I think Tori doesn't discount anyone's beliefs and doesn't claim (at least publicly) any one set of beliefs. She is always talking about Celtic gods, Egyptian, Buddist, Hindu, Sufism etc. It would be nice if Wiccans could claim her as one of them (us) but I don't think that is the case. Needless to say, if she had lived (for indeed she might have) in the 16th Century she would have been deemed a witch nonetheless. I remember in the interview "Attila the Honey" she says that she would like to have her body disposed of "burned, definately burned like the witches". Could she be acknowledging (at least subconsiously) a previous life??? Just wondering. love in tori, and Blessed Be!! trent - --- "I want to torture the people who don't understand the world of faeries. You'll get some reporter from 'Vogue' who doesn't know what she's talking about, who paints me as some insipid Tinker Bell character--well, Tinker Bell ain't up my Strasse, baby. I'm not some shivering waif in the forest. Sometimes I want to grab these bitches by the hair and take them to the world of faerie and say, 'Would you repeat that?' People can be so vicious toward the imaginary world, and it saddens me. You kill a lot of little people's dreams that way. You're no different from Hitler, as far as I'm concerned."
