The sound of the thing overall seemed kinda weird to me. I must say, I know this is gonna be the next single, but first they did Spark all over TV to promote the album before they were comfortable playing it and that was goofy to me, and now they're playing the main song on the album all over TV which isn't gonna be as good live as it is on the record since it greatly benefits from the wonderful string arrangement on the album, and that's way goofy to me, too. It's a low energy song to begin with. It might be nothing more than that along with nervousness. No, that's never gonna be a problem. She has her monitors mixed such that she can hear. There's no way she has to strain to be heard. It doesn't work that way. > Does anyone know if she has a cold? The performances were, no need to say, amazing especially Cruel which was over 6 minutes, she made lots of hand moves on it, she also, i guess, tortured herself while doing the "aaa a a" part, and she probably got to excited, saliva started to flow from her mouth :). Your best bet is to watch on the various Tori forums (the mailing lists, rec.music.tori-amos) for people selling off their collections. Another good resource is eBay, an online auction house. You -really- need to know what good prices are for things before you go there, though -- I've seen people trying to auction off the US UtP pink vinyl with starting bids of $50 (my local Tower stocks this item regularly for $8.99) or the US Winter for $20 ($4.99 at Tower, $5.99 at Best Buy). eBay is at www.ebay.com. I've purchased many items through them, and only once had a problem. A good resource is the price FAQ put together by the folks at rec.music.tori-amos. It has information on the going prices for many collectible Tori items. I always check that before I buy something, to make sure that the price I'm paying is a good one. Your best bet to save your wallet (if you're just interested in the music and not having all the singles themselves) is to buy a bootleg with these songs on them. I think I have been very good recently. Everyday I come home, and delete the majority of mail from the Tori ML, and hey, I don't mind. I have just been patiently waiting for news of her visit to TEXAS. I haven't ever once said "When is tori coming to my city, state" because I know how to read, and I thank Greg Burrell for his constant updates, even if all he knows is just tenative. Anyhoo. that's besides the point. I am just finally glad that there are some tenative dates set for texas! So: I live in Houston, and I am very anxious about the Tori concert because it will be my first. I am considering making a couple of road trips to San Antonio, Austin, and perhaps Dallas. If there are any traveling Texans, please get in touch with me. Also, same as always, if you find out about ticket sales, make them known. As for Houston tix, Ticketmaster has not posted any info on Tori, (prolly due to dates just coming out) but I will keep a watchful eye. And just a few general questions, How much are tickets going for? Are her shows selling out?, What is the price range for merchandise at her shows? Ok, I think thats about it, I appreciate your answers in advance. I have the UtP and BfP songbook and it is so hard, don't expect to be able to play it real well right now. I have my LE book coming in the mail, and I have to get the ftch, yes have to. Well, that's that, really, you mustn't stress over trying to play them. And you do really only need 2 hands (the first line is the vocal line) if you didn't know, one of my friends thought you needed another hand too. A little tip: practice hands alone, it makes song learning MUCH easier...if only I'd use my advice. Hey all, Well, I've started my quest for Tori stuff and have found a place to buy a few CDs from... but now I'm having a dilemma... I am not sure what I want to get first... so since some of you guys own these CDs... I wanted to ask you for your opinion. I am trying to figure out which of the following items to buy first... and it only has to be one. God UK Single (with remixes) Caught A Lite Sneeze UK #1 (with Hungarian Wedding Song) Caught A Lite Sneeze UK #2 (Limited Edition PICTURE DISC with the coolest Tori cover I've ever seen!) Hmm... I have all the songs on both of the Caught A Lite Sneeze singles, except for Hungarian Wedding Song. I want the God Single because it has some hard-to-find remixes and the cover is very cool too, I want the Caught A Lite Sneeze UK #1 because of Hungarian Wedding Song, which I have never heard, and I want the Caught A Lite Sneeze UK #2 because it is a picture disc (I don't have any of those!) and because it has an exclusive, ultra-cool cover + digipack... even though I have all the songs on it. So... what do you think I should buy? Any opinions would be appreciated... I want to order them tonight! Thanks a lot! Giovanni PS. In any case, those which I choose NOT to buy for now I will be getting them within the next couple of months, so include the factor of "availability" in your opinions... I don't want to miss out on any of them. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Jul 1998 22:32:10 -0400 From: "Bill Klassen" Subject: Re: Tori on Letterman tonight? Like the Hindu Goddesses, Tori manifests in many different forms to express the infinite depth of the Absolute. She does take on many forms doesn't she? I thought she looked a bit tired and didn't quite give the piece the strength we perhaps would have wanted. She has been working very hard recently.
