If tori said that she had a relationship with nothern guy, and he is not the Eric Rosse , it' must be that gut about whom she told in interview to russian radio station "Radio-Maximum" in 1997. She told about russian guy , with whom she was in love and 7 years of relationship, and about his grandmother, which was russian woman. This grandmother teached Tori to prepare russian soup , which we call "borshch" and a chicken with a whole pieces of garlic. Tori was amazed that all russians prepare chicken this way :))) She said that this guy helped her to live through the part with the tearing of relationship with Eric. That all that I know and I heard how she said that. Tell me what do you think? If you need a particular boot in CD format, please contact me at this address, or at my home address which is Hole_fan@yahoo.com. I would be more than happy to mail you the CD for the purchase price plus postage. Usually, well, almost always, single CDs run $26.50, then add $3.00 for postage, for a total of around $30 (US). Double CDs vary, but usually cost around $46. I've seen several different CDs, be sure to look through the Collectibles book and see what you want, as I have seen most of the CDs listed in that book. I haven't seen any '98 shows yet, but I will definitely keep an eye open. Earlier someone mentioned Forgotten Earthquakes. I know where I can get a copy, so contact me and we'll see what we can work out. Thanks for posting about this, Shawn! > Hope this helps for you completists! :) It does. But it would help far more if everyone would include the dates of all articles when you tell us about them. I hate spending fifteen minutes in the store going back and forth and back and forth through a magazine to confirm that it is, in fact, *not* the issue in question with the Tori article I'm looking for, at *least* as much as I dislike *buying* the wrong issue of a magazine, only to discover upon getting back home that it was, in fact, the wrong issue of the magazine in question. (Again, after going back and forth and back and forth at home, rather than in the store. "But they said it was the 'most recent' issue.") Newsstands all over the world do not all simultaneously put the "current" issues on the stands, especially from one country to the next. Please, please, please--ALWAYS tell us the date of a publication in which an article appears. Especially the ones with the tiny items. You'll save some of us one hell of a lot of time and money! And we'll love you even more than we do for your having told us about it at all in the first place. :-) Thanks in advance to all, Richard Handal, H.G. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 7 Jul 1998 13:30:30 -0400 (EDT) From: Dan Ryan Subject: Toronto tickets I have 2 extra tickets to Tori's Toronto show at the Molson Amphitheatre, they are in section 202 and I am selling them at cost($50 cdn). It's a love song, Mark is indeed a Northern Lad (from the North of England, 'lad' being a northern vernacular term, much in the vein of 'bloke'), it contains the lines 'first he loved my accent', and of course Tori's accent is very cute to us anglo-saxons, and it mentions rain a lot, and the weather we get up north tends to involve lots of rain. And, let's face it, Tori got a lot of Eric out of her system on Boys For Pele. Why not give Mark a bit of an airing on this album? I'm putting words in her mouth, but it's my interpretation. It's blindingly obvious to me, but then, I'm biased, being a Northern Lad myself..... "HAD a northern lad..." "girls you've got to know / when it's time to turn the page / when you're only wet / because of the rain / he don't show much these days / it gets so fucking cold / I loveD his secret places / but I can't go anymore..." When I first heard the title of that song, I figured it would be about Mark, since she had just gotten married, but having heard the song (which sounds sad to me, and makes me cry) and read the lyrics, I really think it's about someone from her past.. Also, during the Dew Drop Inn tour I received the following report from Tori's concert in Manchester, U.K. on February 25, 1996: In Manchester England on February 25, Tori thanked the audience for responding so warmly and enthusiastically and compared their reaction with the 'more refined clapping' that she received from the audiences 'down south,'. She said they just sit there and go 'clap clap clap'; even when they come, they probably just go 'clap clap clap'. She used a cockney accent for some of this. She commented that since she has a boyfriend from northern England she was becoming more aware of the differences between the south and the north. Tori Amos - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 7 Jul 1998 23:01:24 -0400 From: becky Subject: Northern Lad business . . . Here's my own little interpretation: Let me just begin by reminding everyone of "Song for Eric". It has a very northern, almost celtic sound to it. "Had a northern lad/Well not exactly had . . . " She refers to Eric as a boy in Song for Eric - could be a lad/boy reference. She was never able to put definite claims on him. I believe she mentioned how she wanted to haul off and get married with this boy but it never happened - he didn't feel the same - so she could never fully "have" him. . . . "First he loved my accent" - this leads me to think of merman. She mentions how her current love doesn't love her or need her for her voice alluding to the fact that maybe Eric did. "me and my molasses" - someone mentioned before that this was a little reference to Eric anyway from "Liquid Diamonds". Did anything ever come of that statement? Why was it said? Anyway - I'm just throwing it into my pile. "But I feel this cake isn't done" - Like it's already been stated - here's the Baker, Baker reference. "And if you could see me now . . . " Eric doesn't get to see her so much these days but he's probably be very proud of her. I know that he came to one of her concerts on the sneak preview tour and I can just imagine what singing that line would do to her and him . . . sigh. "Girls you've got to know when it's time to turn the page/ When you're only wet because of the rain" - This boy wasn't doing it for her anymore. The lines pretty much self explanatory - I hope!!!! Sheez! "He don't show much these days/ gets so fucking cold/ I loved his secret places/ but I can't go there anymore" - He doesn't show his face around much anymore. She's in charge of her records now and it must be a little lonely without his constant presence. She can't visit him like she used to because it's over and done with. "I guess you go to far when pianos try to be guitars" - Didn't she mention that she always wanted to play the guitar and that Eric could and she just couldn't. She wanted to push the relationship to the limit with what she was used to but it just didn't quite work. Anyway - I have kooky ideas. Take them as you will. This is how I see it. Her love songs to Mark are just so sweet and like it was mentioned before this is very reminiscent of "Hey, Jupiter". Her songs about Eric and Mark just have a different feel to them. I immediately thought that it was about Eric as soon as I heard it. Now, i could tell you what songs I think refer to Mark if anyone would like to know but, since this e-mail is so long - I'll end my thoughts.
