Just because it's not there doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Their website just lists the dates that they are definitely either already selling tickets for or will be in the very near future. If your city isn't listed there, it's not a big deal. Really Deep Thoughts, the official fanclub, is probably the best official source of tour information. They've been very good about keeping us updated. Their website has all known tour dates as well as any on-sale information they know. Greghewritesletters is the one doing the tour dates, and he was incredible about keeping us updated on the last tour. They release the information as soon as it's available. They're at http://www.toriamos.org Atlantic's official Tori website is the runner-up for best official source. They were the first to tell us about the US tour dates after her European tour, but they don't appear to be keeping a running list. Whether or not they'll keep on updating us remains to be seen. They're at http://www.tori.com Mikewhy's "The Dent" is the best unofficial source on the web. He's got tour dates. He's got setlists from the shows that've already happened. He's got rumors. He's got on sale dates. He's even got a debate on whether or not Tori should appear in arenas. He's got it all. He's at http://tori.by.net Charlie's ToriTour list is also a very good source. He's working hard to keep it updated, including with rumors about shows and the like. It's sent out when there's new information. It's a great resource for folks who want to know all the tour information, and don't want to have to dig through all the websites I listed above. ;) Folks, please just take a deep breath and chill out. Tori's planning on 200 shows. That's a whole lot of shows, at least on the order of what we saw on the DDI tour, maybe more. If your town hasn't been announced yet, or you don't have an on-sale date, or whatever, just sit back and relax. The dates we have are only through September, plus there are some -huge- holes in that schedule. I seriously doubt she's gonna take that kind of time off in the middle of the tour all the time. I know that it's been awhile since a lot of us have gotten to see her {or the first time!} and you're excited, but please be patient. The minute that information is available, it will be shared with everyone. It does no good to go into a hissy fit 'cause the information isn't available. Nobody's withholding information. The minute anyone hears anything, they'll post in the various online Tori forums. I promise. Please, folks. Just be patient. That's all I ask. /nad ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 26 May 1998 11:55:55 +0100 From: "Ruud van Melick" Subject: dutch articles/reviews (a summary) Hi there, A summary of what appeared in the dutch/belgian magazines and newspapers. Look, this was a sneak preview for her real EWF. When I spoke with Johnny Riggs prior to the ticket announcement, he said that Tori et al wanted to make changes to the way the tickets were sold, due to all the problems in CA. I think HFS did us a big favor by waiting until 1 hr before to disclose the information. That way, only those dedicated fans were really listening and paying attention, so the rich, and the scalpers had no advantage over us. *We* had the advantage. BTW, I was really sad to see/hear so much intolerance regarding those at the concert who were "different" I was really hurt by the negative reaction to Johnny Riggs, especially. Don't people realize that one of Tori's messages is for tolerance??? How then can so many EWF be so intolerant? I don't understand it. 10-13 years ago I had the tallest mohawk in DC. I was deeply involved in the DC hardcore scene since the early '80s. One very important message I was trying to get across to others was 'don't judge people by the way they look'. I had to deal with an incredible amount of discrimination. These days, what was then 'alternative' is now mainstream. This really bothers me. Tori is one of the few whose music is still pushing the envelope. I wonder in which direction the 'alternative' music will go. I certainly hope they do something to be an alternative to mainstream, because now, that's all most of it is--mainstream. Just wanted to get that off my chest..... But for the opening night of her latest European tour, she had the works: bass, drums, guitar, as well as her own piano and electronic keyboard. The result was a revelation. Whereas the last time I saw this restlessly inventive and slightly unhinged singer, songwriter and pianist from the American South, she looked small and vulnerable and sounded rather thin, here she seemed charged up by the presence of her band. She hollered and swooned in that inimitable voice and squirmed on her piano stool as though she could barely contain herself. Not only did the band give the show a richer sound - they also provided Amos with something to play off against. In particular, she and the drummer seem to have developed a spooky understanding; there was a thrilling symmetry between the contrapuntal splashes of sound that emanated from her piano and his crackling fills. The show opened with Black Dove, one of the best tracks from Amos's fabulous new album, From the Choirgirl Hotel. The band sparkled, and Amos shrieked and pummelled her piano - it was electrifying. And so it went on, almost without let-up, for an hour and a half. Respite came briefly when the band strolled off and left the singer to her own devices for a couple of songs; otherwise it was Amos and the band, fully plugged-in and switched-on, covering a range of moods: scary, frightened, powerful, voraciously erotic. Raspberry Swirl was a controlled explosion of sound, featuring the drummer banging on an oil drum and Amos reminding us that the piano is, in essence, a percussion instrument; Cornflake Girl, the old favourite, raised the roof; Northern Lad, an elliptically structured threnody from the new album, saw her voice soaring and swooping exquisitely; and on Spark, another new song, she and the band faithfully reproduced the baroque complexity of the recorded version. Amos didn't say much, but her body language suggested that she was having the time of her life. And no wonder: by making herself the focal point of a proper band, as a live performer she has propelled herself into another dimension. Why hasn't she thought of it before? - ------------------------------------------------------------ - ----------------------------------- Luv'n'stuff Linette - ---------------------------------------------------------- " I'm a genius, not an engineer" ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 26 May 1998 19:31:36 EDT From: Mellie6195 Subject: Re: in conversation kimmie, i have "in conversation" and it's a really good interview...about 30 minutes long on a picture disc. melanie ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 26 May 1998 16:52:35 PDT From: "Nick Schutz" Subject: a question I have a question. Has Tori ever been a guest on the Howard Stern show?? I think that would be very interesting because she seems like maybe one of the only celebrities who is as quick as he is in interviews. If she has, does anybody have a copy of it?? I'd love to hear that. That'd be really interesting. He'd like bring up her sex life or something and say something like "you know that millions of horny teenage boys masturbate to your music" and she'd say something about Robert Plant or Trent Reznor and it would just be cool. Some of the lines in her songs bother some people, but I like it because she's just so frank and honest about things. It's actually very refreshing. Sure, at first it's kind of like, "What the heck??!!
