I was just on a2b's web site reading the FAQ. Apparently a2b format is is the successor to MP3 format, and thus superior in quality to an MP3. I'm a bit curious to know what the actual a2b format of "Merman" sounds like and would like to compare it to the sound of the MP3 (and my many thanks to WeirdyBoy who posted it on his web page). The a2b player is available for free to download, and I was wondering if it was possible for someone who was able to get the track to possibly post it on their web site in the original a2b format? Both told me that the UK Spark cd single would now contain only one part and that the cd2 had been thrown to the bin like the cd2 for God. They also said that the tentative release date was April 20th but it may get pushed back. They also said that the actual album release date may be pushed back until June-worldwide. They both said they would have definite confirmation of this by next week. Has anyone else heard this? Needless to say, I was quite distraught. I never thought I would live to see the day where Tori played to stadiums. I am thanking the faeries that I will have time to see her in the UK before I move back to NYC in the fall. It seems so unreal to me. It seems like only days ago I was seeing her at the TLA in Phliadelphia. Of course, that was 1992 and things were different. But stadiums? I don't know perhaps I am the only one who is distraught by this fact. Maybe I am simply being selfish. I know the sound will be different with a band and Raspberry Swirl is evidence of this as is Spark but there is no need for a stadium to bring these new sounds to fruition. Let's hope it won't be shot down. In 1996, I started keeping up a comprehensive Website about Kim Wilde. This website includes an Encyclopedia, which has gotten a very good reception from many Kim Wilde fans worldwide. Truth be told, part of the concept was taken from the excellent Kate Bush dictionary that is kept up on GaffaWeb, but the Encyclopedia is slightly more linked and also contains links to soundfiles and lyrics &c. (And it's updated more regularly...;) To get to the point: I'd like to do the same for Tori Amos. I would like to, but there are a few problems. 1. I have no webspace. The most concrete problem, and hopefully it can be solved by any one of you. I have rather bad experiences with the free webspace providers, so I would prefer not to use them, hence this try: can anyone provide webspace??? 2. There is just too much Tori Amos on the Web. This is in itself a good thing, cause it means that things like sound files and lyrics are already there, but I would need the URL's and I would need to be updated if they change. 3. I don't have the time myself to start from scratch. I would need articles on every song Tori recorded, people she collaborated with, projects she contributed to, information about show hosts like Jay Leno and Letterman, those people from KROQ and others she's frequently performed with, &c. &c. In short: I hope this project can be done with a few enthusiastic collaborators. I hope to find two or three people who are active email-readers, who know how to divide information from nonsense and who like to do this for fun. Perhaps this won't lead to a reaction, in which case I will do the project by myself, one day. But perhaps we can make this work! Let's try to make the Tori Amos Encyclopedia, a good starting point for people who want to know the facts fast! Kind regards, Marcel Rijs mfgr@bart.nl http://www.bart.nl/~mfgr GO FOR IT! My VCR will be set to tape next week, April 22 @6PM. I've got it marked on my Tori calender. This video, like the song itself, will take a lot of listens and looks to get the complex, weaved messages. I've always thought Tori was extremely advanced visually, perhaps to advanced for the mainsteam audiences. Her UK "Cornflake Girl" is really quite deep if you watch it enough. Perhaps the audience has advanced to her level at this point to appriciate the visual art and not need to have it spoon fed to them. I was also very interested in Tori's comments in the chat about *seeing* the great classics in geometrical shapes. That the structure of the music is a *visual* thing for such a great musician is a surprise to me. I myself am a very visual person and since it supercides my audio, (Meaning I need to *see* things to understand them, instead of being able to rely on what I *hear*) I had always thought that the two were completely different things. Like you are either one or the other. I must be able to read the lyrics to fully appriciate Tori's songs, I must *see* the songs. I find it interesting Tori has both abilities.
