Ok, I am finally ordering my Live in NY vid from CD NOW, and Thanks to Marie (Talula 33) I get a $10 discount from my order of $20+. Well the video is back up to $19.99 which is $20 in my mind, but not CD NOWS, so inorder for me to get the discount I have to boost it over $20 and I really cant buy much more than $25 (limit from my dad). Well, their US CD singles are $5.99. I was thinking of either Caught a Lite Sneeze (but that's on backorder and I dont feel like waiting) Cornflake Girl (In Stock) God (In Stock) Talula (In Stock) Winter (In Stock) I really have no Tori Collection, besides her 3 main albums. I really am excited about this video, and all I can afford is a single. Which I rather not buy cuz it's my dad that is kindly letting my get the video. He wont know about this. But buying a cd single will boost me over the $20 min and it will be cheaper over all. So, hee hee, it will be like me paying reg price for the VIDEO and getting a SINGLE "free". Anyhoo, my dilemma is that I don't know which SINGLE is really good. I know they are all good, but which one will hold me over till I get a job and can buy em all. BTW, I would prefer not to get a single that has only re-mixes at this time. I haven't heard many B-sides and geting a single with songs I haven't heard makes me excited! So my question for you is, WHICH SINGLE HAS THE BEST B-SIDES?! Please respond rather quickly, this $10 off sale ends Tuesday before 5 EST! I need to order ASAP! We had thought that there wouldn't be anyone there, but we were wrong. We got in line, and we ended up being 95, 96, 97, and 98. I have to say that the folks at the Roxy in Atlanta were very cool. A guy came around with sheets of information about how it was going to be handled. He answered any questions that came up {and even went to great lengths to answer the question I asked him about one of the people that will be coming with me, a wheelchair-bound woman}. Around 1am, they opened up the venue and let folks in to use the bathroom and such. There were no problems that I saw with all of us that ended up camping out. I think that anyone who arrived at the Roxy after 7am or so, though, didn't stand a chance of getting tickets. Even though the Roxy holds about 1400 or so, the line just exploded between 5am and 6am. Around 9am, the security guys started handing out little yellow tickets with a number on them. They announced that if anyone was caught selling their ticket or swapping or anything like that, they'd be taken out of line. At one point, two people closer to the front of the line were kicked out. {One 'cause he cut in, the other who had let him in.} There was cheering as the security folks did that. Overnight, though, line-cutting wasn't really an issue. Everyone who'd been there for awhile knew where they were in line, and had probably started talking to the folks in front of and behind them. I made sure that the three guys behind us kept their place in line when they ran out to get coffee and doughnuts at one point, they did the same for us my husband and a friend ran to our apartment to pick up some blankets and such. Overall, I could've lived without the camping out, but I do think that it was handled pretty well. The folks at the venue were good, the security guards weren't assholes, and the people in line were all very good. Assuming that their behavior in line is indictive of their behavior at the show, I don't think we'll have to deal with any screamers {thank god!}. For whoever's keeping score, tickets were $28.50 each. Anyway. If anyone's travelling in to see the show, drop me a line and we can all get together before heading to the Roxy to lineup {again!} for admission. /nad {tired, glad to have tickets to both Ft Lauderdale and Atlanta, and excited to be seeing Tori again soon!} *************************************************************************** * Nadyne Mielke, CS majour, Southern Tech, Marietta, GA * * * * "I regret to say that we of the FBI are powerless to act in cases of * * oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate * * commerce. Same here. There was a full-page ad in "Creative Loafing", a free weekly paper. The show was publicized on 99X, the local "alternative" radio station. I heard about the show on 99X before I saw anything on any of the various online Tori forums. /nad *************************************************************************** * Nadyne Mielke, CS majour, Southern Tech, Marietta, GA * * * * "I regret to say that we of the FBI are powerless to act in cases of * * oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate * * commerce. (was Re: Newbury Comics and) Lilim said: > By reading lyrics to the songs...does anyone have an opinion on what > they want the next single to be... Not from reading the lyrics, but someone played the sampler for me over the phone tonight. Jackie's Strength went far *beyond* blowing me away. Musically, it would be moving as an instrumental. But the unashamed sense of longing had my heart aching in a way that had me completely speechless. My friend can confirm that I could not speak for the longest time after he played it for me. It really scared the hell out of me to find a song on this record that was instantly *at* *least* as moving as anything else she's ever done. Part of me is worried for the way I may be visibly upset in public at the shows, but I don't think I'll be the only one unable to choke back the tears when she performs Jackie's Strength in concert. I'm not ranting about your post, but, luckily for Tori no one can accuse her of copying. Madonna and Tori were recording at nearly the same time on their new albums. Unless Tori took a special trip to LA to hear Madonna in her studio I doubt there was any influence at all. ALthough, has anyone ever noticed how Tori sort of acts a little keen on Madonna? She played the WONDERFUL Live to Tell, she did Like A Virgin in a few improvs, and I've saw interviews where she'll mention Madonna. Corporate Reality: Everyone who wants to hear Merman buys new Tori album from Tower. They download the track into their computer and sit there in front of it listening. They make no copies because the program won't allow it. They are the only ones who can access it. Both Atlantic and Tower make a ton of cash herding Toriphiles like sheep. True Reality: Someone takes advantage of the offer and downloads the track. They hook up the audio output from their computer to a tape deck and copy it. Copy protection on the program itself does nothing to protect the audio signal it generates. They use the tape copy, perhaps a DAT copy, to make an MP3 file. They make audio boots of it. It proliferates across the net and across the boot trading scene just as fast as Spark did. By the end of the weekend, any EWF who is online, or knows someone who is online, can get it free, or nearly so, without going to Tower. The only people who are forced to choose between missing out or dealing with the Tower offer are those who are completely out of the internet/fan club loop. Of course, this is assuming Atlantic and Tower are actually dense enough to think they can keep this genie in the bottle for any length of time. If they have half a brain, it will be released as a b-side on at least one of the skajilion singles planned for the new album, so people who don't deal with Tower will eventually buy the single rather than just sticking to their bootleg copies, and Atlantic and Tori will make their money from the track that way. So if you'd rather shop somewhere other than Tower, feel free. The only thing you'll actually miss out on is the little promotional postcard they give you. - -Dave "Everybody that comes into contact with us, once they realize the Spice Girls are human beings, they get a different view of what we're about" - -Geri Halliwell [Ginger Spice] "I am...grates..full...grape..fruit" "The future is not set - -Bjork at Brit Awards There is no fate except that which we make "Know your Teachers, Learn all you Can, for ourselves" Then go Teach what you have Learned. -John Connor "Terminator" For That is the True Secret to Life." - -Beth Coulter "I make rough seas.
