So they're not even releasing information yet, kiddies. looks like we're gonna have to wait a bit for a ticket to sit in our hands... we're all getting way overexcited about this...i feel like I'm waiting for christmas again... ahh...to be eight years old.... speaking of age, the web site for Park West says that most of their shows are 21+, but I looked at their upcoming shows and about half of them were 18+...I'm thinking tori would probably make it 18+ if she possibly could... just a thought...this affects me because I'm not 21 until November. Grrr. But hey I'll be scot free afta that, babe. good evening kerriloo^ "you might keep me from ever being happy, but you're not gonna stop me from having fun..." -miss ani d.- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 Mar 1998 01:00:37 +0000 From: Jon & Janet Haverman Subject: covered >From: Catherine Adria Hardison >Subject: tori covers... > >are there any bands that have done covers of tori songs??? i know jawbox >covered 'cornflake girl', but are there any others??? my favorite song covered is WINTER by Dream Theatre. Oh, come on, who are they kidding? In Boston last year, 3 shows at the Wang Center sold out. Discounting people like me that saw all 3 shows, that would make roughly 8500 people that saw her. Avalon holds maybe 1000 people, albeit uncomfortably. They'll probably try to squeeze 1200 in. That means that about 80 percent of the people that saw her last time can't see her again. Does that fit the definition of "not too small"? It's "not too small" as defined for a *club* tour, meaning she's not playing in tiny little 100 person venues. Since she's coming around on again on a normal tour there will be another chance to see her in a bigger venue, which if the album sells well will probably end up being some grotesque arena like the Fleet Center. Since Tori has specifically stated these are *Club Shows*, it might be wise to check the FAQ of the particular venue you can get to. Rules are pretty much the same all over I've found. I have also noticed the fever-pitched excitement and some grumpiness because of this format. OK, it isn't the *best* way, and a lot of people are going to miss out on this time round. But Tori is coming back and play huge venues with no age limits when she finishes Europe and (maybe) Aust. I really think this is the best Tori's management and everyone else could do to fulfill Tori's request to please us. We must have patience and laugh at the silly games that are played. Getting upset does no good and doesn't change anything. And for the European fans, we are expecting to receive an update on the European tour and hope to make that information available soon. Here's the story on the US tour: o Tori will perform with a band for the first time in her solo career in venues that will be specifically selected to be "not too big, but not too small." o Tori wants this tour to be for the fans and would like us to get tickets without going through scalpers or ticket agencies. To that end, we have received word that there will be a limit of two tickets per person. Also, tickets will only be sold at the venue box office. ID will be required when purchasing tickets and being admitted to the venue. This is the general plan and, yes, its a bother but this will help avoid scalpers as well as prevent buyers from paying people to stand in line for them. Tori and her management are committed to making this a tour for the fans! o Ticket availability and distribution are set by the specific promoter and may vary from city to city. Details will be announced on the radio. Also, the tour dates have *just* been set so the people at your local venue might not know anything about the concert or on-sale dates. o A number of these dates are marked "unconfirmed" which means that plans for that date haven't been finalized (so don't go camping out at the theater for tickets just yet!) We're working hard to keep this list as accurate and current as possible. o If you cut-and-paste these tour dates into your own postings or web site then we ask that you please provide the date, attribute Really Deep Thoughts, and provide a link to our web site (http://www.toriamos.org) so that people can check for updates. (During Tori's previous tour I maintained a list of dates and it was always frustrating to see all the outdated versions of that floating around on-line; I'd really like to keep fans up-to-date with all the freshest info.) I'm not advocating underage clubbing, and I've only heard of "other people doing this", but "some people" have "fake ID's" which get them into clubs. Now I could never imagine anyone on this list caught in a dilemma over a concert ever having to resort to one of those "fake ID's" but in these apocolyptic times, one is forced to take drastic measures.
