Do you know of any good mailorder Tori vendors -- either online or off? Is there one place you really love? One you really hate? Write to me privately and let me know what your experiences have been. APRIL 18 IS A SATURDAY!!! so that leads me to think that some of these may been wrong, but hey, its something right?? the web page this is from by the way is http://www.miaminewtimes.com/1997/032797/mthis.html The Mighty Mighty Bosstones: Tuesday, April 8, Sunrise Musical Theatre, 5555 95th Ave, 954-741-7300, with the Pietasters, H20. I mentioned before that 'Cooling' does not seem to be on the new album, and I realized when I was going through my tapes today that none of the songs she played on Acoustic Cafe seem to be on the album either. Neverwhere - going well, he handed in the last revision of the script. No director or casting, but will be underway by the end of this year... 2. Death:The High Cost of Living - definitely moving forward with producer Denise DeNovi (?). Neil's writing and directing, thank god. The plot is of the mini-series of the same name but with a lot more material. I just hope that it isn't totally detached from Sandman and the Endless altoghether... 3. Sandman - Director Robert Avary's been fired, but the project's not in Neil's hands. But just wait... you'll see how WB will screw it up. It will probably end up looking like the "Sandman" that Brute and Glob made during "The Doll's House" storyline. ughh... Also, does anyone know where I can buy a video (real or taped) of the Neverwhere tv seres? And a question - what's Neil's relationship with Tori? Were they ever romanticly invovled? I know Neil's married but can someone tell me how long's he been maried for and who's he married to? Also, "Sandman Presents" the DC/Vertigo imprint will start this summer with "Lucifer Falling". There'll be four projects a year. Neil oversees it all.Neverwhere will be a 12 issue maxi-series at Vertigo in late '98 perhaps. Lastly, for anyone that likes Sandman, I recomend you pick up "Kabuki" by David Mack. It is absoloutely amazing. It is very deep and the art and text blend together totally on many different levels. It was originally published by Caliber, but is now a fully-painted bi-monthly ongoing series at Image, and Image has re-released all the original stuff in Trade Paperback. The TP's are(in order): Circle of Blood(B/W) $17.95 (300+ pages) Dreams Masks Of The Noh Skin Deep and then it continues in the ongoing series which is at number 3 now I think. Try it. It's really the best thing I've read since Sandman! I came across the Prince item in "Upside Down" Issue 1, article by Arthur Spivak named "Arthur the Babtist". In the intro to the article, Tom Richards wrote a little background on who Arthur Spivak was b/t (before Tori). In part it reads: "...In the early 70's in Chicago, to present day in Beverly Hills, Arthur has worked with such luminaries as Prince, Billy Squier, Smithereens, Missing Persons, Peter Cetera, and was influential in breaking Midnight Oil in the United States. In addition to managing recording artists, he also manages several film stars careers. To this success story, Arthur has now added the name Tori Amos..." End Quote. The article by Arthur is really great and talks about first hearing and meeting Tori, and how he has grown with her and through her. He also expresses his thoughts on Tori's popularity (remembering this was written in 92-93) and where her career might go. Sorry, Your Majesty, for not quoting my source before. I mean listen to the lyrics! Its about how we create our own hell as far as I'm concerned. OK, maybe the lyrics "You said I think your a queer, Well I think your a queer, Said I think your a queer, Said I think your a queer-And I shaved every place were you've been boy, Said I shaved every place were you've been" might sound a little bit ambiguis but if you look at it closely it sounds more like an argument one would have with your boyfriend. And any way, if it really was a coming-out song I think she would have mentioned it in an interview or something, like Niel Tennant (lead singer of the Pet Shop Boys) did in 93. (I must add, thier album Very was considered thier official "coming-out" album.) There are many ways to interprit her songs, I really don't know what else to add here so I'll just leave so some one can flame me or what ever, ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 Mar 1998 23:11:24 EST From: Auburn2244 Subject: Re: Tori question I think everyone misunderstood my question. Anyway, I had thought Blood Roses had been partially inspired by "The Secret of Joy" by Alice Walker. It's a story of a woman brought up in a culture where female circumcision was common for 12 year olds. The line "Chickens get a taste of your meat" I heard refers to the practice of feeding the genital parts to the chickens. Sorry if I grossed anyone out, but man, it really is a heavy song. That's why I found it funny to hear it suggested for the Gay Theme. Sometimes we hear the words, but we don't really *hear* the words, if you know what I mean. Funny thing is tho, my mom was in my car and that song came on the cd, and she was like "is tori saying queer?" and i said yeah mom, but not like you mean...cause i know you're thinking something sexual!!! Of course then the whole shaved bit, she thought was some masochistic ritual tori did and so forth and i told her that i interpreted it as she'd gotten rid of all reminders of a boy, and not that she has really gone and shaved herself. My mom can be so odd at times, but she like the 'sweet' (so she calls them) songs like Winter, and Little Earthquakes. She likes the sound, but doesn't get the meaning behind them. *shrug* Danica - -- http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Towers/5612/torimp3.html - - Tori Amos: A Realm of Mp3's Website ....In my heart stirs a quiet passion http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Towers/5612/glittermain.html All That Glitters....Is Sour (yes that be a homepage) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 05 Mar 1998 22:56:11 -0600 From: A Faerie Subject: cover tune While its on my mind, i thought i'd ask.....Tori did a cover of a Phil Collins song, and the name escaped me at the moment, though i know which one it is (dern those lil faeries for taking it off the tip of my tongue!)
